Ask Adam

Rate this book
Can one wild night of passion turn into the romance of a lifetime? Lexi Tanner’s got a major AJ Riley, the man she’s about to approach for a hefty donation, turns out to be the stranger she shared a night of steamy sex with less than a week past. She’ll do anything to raise money for a children’s charity—anything except sell herself. Now how can she ask AJ for money without it seeming like he’s paying for sexual favors? If there’s one thing the past has taught Adam “AJ” Riley, it’s that loving someone can only lead to pain. He knows he shouldn’t feel so attracted to Lexi, and he definitely shouldn’t trust a woman who’d sleep with a man one week and approach him for money the next. Yet somehow Lexi breaks through all his barriers. His instincts tell him to run but his heart wants to give Lexi—and love—a second chance. How can he let go of his tragic past and still protect his battered heart?

It might have taken a while, but in December of 2005, she finally got “the call.” Her first book, Photo Opportunity had been contracted. Now you can’t hold her down. Not a bad read--sort of your typical, erotic romance with a hero who has had a tragedy in his past affect his future happiness. It's a little bit unusual because it takes place in Australia.

Lexi is a hospital social worker who is looking to score a big donation from a prominent businessman to help fund her special charitable children's project. When she finally meets with businessman "AJ" Riley she is stunned to see that he is the sexy stranger who she recently spent one incredible night filled with set-the-sheets-on-fire sex, and who she only knows as "Adam". And now Adam thinks Lexi set him up to trade sex for a huge donation!

Adam's had a huge tragedy in his life 10 years ago. But he's never been able to move on, and is sort of just marking time, and not really living. Until Lexi steps into his life. Something about her makes him feel alive, yet he struggles with the idea of letting himself be happy again. Will Lexi be able to break through the protective walls around his heart and get him to take a chance on living again?

This was a fairly easy one to read, with a pretty straight forward plot. Lexi and Adam have an intense physical connection, but Adam can't deal with his feelings for Lexi. So he sets up all kinds of road blocks to ruin the relationship, including acting like an a**, blowing hot and cold, and treating Lexi like dirt, and then being sorry about it. But somehow she doesn't give up on him, sees glimpses of the man he could be, and she knows he's hurting...over something (and because he's verry talented in the bedroom). He finally opens up to her about why he can't seem to appreciate what they can have...and it is a sad story.

I wasn't all that thrilled with Adam, even though he was one sexy hot guy. I wasn't too thrilled with the way he treated Lexi, and I was thrilled when she finally put her foot down over his treatment of her and kicked him to the curb. She was just a bit pathetic when she kept accepting his hot/cold treatment so I was glad when she finally got a spine. Of course this being Romancelandia he finally wised up and got his act together before I (and Lexi) started to hate him.:)

If you're looking for a book with lots of descriptive, hot sex, this book has it--including your basic against the trunk of the car sex, some inventive use of creme brulee, and plenty of "what-I'd-like-to-do-with-you" sex talk. Plenty of steam in this one.

So even though I wasn't wowed by the H/h, it was a decent enough read, moved pretty fast, and entertained me. 4 stars

So, I was expecting the usual from Jess Dee … hot, sexy, steamy, possibly ménage, definitely off-the-charts sex. I got so much more from Chance Seduction. I ran the emotional gamut in this wonderfully written story by Jess Dee.

AJ Riley is a man that you are going to love to hate but hate to love … and you will fall in love with him. He’s arrogant, ignorant, head-strong, determined, sweet, sexy and vulnerable. He’s dealing with his past with no looking towards the future. Until he meets Lexi and he knows that his world is going to be turned upside down. He recognizes the woman who could make him feel again and let down all his defenses. He can’t and won’t allow that to happen.

Lexi needs AJ Riley. She had no idea what he looked like and was totally taken aback when she showed up for the meeting and found HIM ... now what? She needs his support and his money. She doesn’t need his attitude, his abrasiveness or his arrogance. She also doesn’t need the reminder of her one indiscretion or to have it thrown in her face at every turn. Just when she is convinced that he is the biggest bastard she has ever known, he lets her in. And, again, now what? Does she forgive him or just walk away from the pain that he constantly causes her?

This was an incredible story that pulled at my heart-strings. I give Jess Dee a lot of credit for writing this story and tackling this subject. I could only hope that it was written from her imagination and not her heart. I really have no idea how to put into words everything that amazed me about this story - how she was able to write a love story that centered around a tragedy … how she combined that love story with the tragedy and brought everyone out on the other side … how she expressed both Lexi and AJ’s feelings. Yes, I was blown away by this story. I was touched by this story, wanted to cry in so many places, wanted to slap AJ and shake Lexi. I totally expected Chance Seduction to be something totally different and was so pleasantly surprised that it wasn’t what I expected. I cannot praise Jess Dee enough for the telling of this story. It was beautifully written and will definitely satisfy your craving for drama, hot sex and love.

MY RATING: 2.5/5 STARS

I received an advanced reader copy in exchange for an honest review.

This is my first Jess Dee novel so I didn't know what to expect but since it was published by Entangled Publishing, I had certain expectations. Hot Sex. Check. A couple with amazing chemistry. Sort of check. And a plot that made me go oh yes! Not really there.

I wanted to give Chance Seduction at least 3 out of 5 stars but it missed it's mark in my opinion because of several reasons. Let's start with discussing the plot of this novel. Lexi needs funds to support her charity and the only one that can help? It's Adam also known as the guy she had red hot sex with literally the day before they meet up. Lexi, of course, didn't know it was the man she was going to beg for a donation, so it obviously leads to some very awkward conversations when they first meet, properly.

Anyways, Adam becomes defensive towards Lexi, misunderstanding her for someone who slept with him for the donation and Lexi, obviously is pissed at Adam for thinking so low of her. I'll let you read the rest of the novel to find out what happens between them.

Let's move onto Adam. The reason why I didn't give 3 out of 5 stars to this book was simply because of him. While I loved all the book boyfriends in my previous stories I've read, Adam was a difficult one. He had a complex background including a divorce that left him scorned and a secret that readers won't find out until towards the end. I enjoyed his complexity but I seriously hated him when he was so fickle with his mood. He would be exactly what Lexi described him (twice). Hot and cold and then back to soft and then moody. It grated my nerves and made me wonder if he could suffer a mental health issue instead of just bring the broody dominant character's we're so used to.

Anyways, there's nothing much to say about Lexi. She's a safe character who supports Adam and gets hurt in the process.

MY RECOMMENDATION

Together with Adam and the average plot, Chance Seduction was enjoyable but definitely not the best. I recommend to try other Jess Dee books.

Lexi Tanner is a social worker working a hospital as a patient advocate. Ever since childhood, when her sister Sarah was diagnosed with and survived leukemia, Lexi has been passionate about advocating for patients, but also the family members who must deal with the devastating blow that cancer brings. As the sibling of a cancer survivor, Lexi knows how difficult it is being the "well" sibling. She's decided to found an advocacy group that supports siblings of cancer patients. Now, she just needs to capital to start up the organization.

Enter AJ Riley is a very successful businessman who runs a conglomerate that has made him a fortune. He's also considered a very eligible bachelor. Lexi sets up a meeting about six weeks down the road with Mr. Riley, hoping to convince him to support her group. She's prepared a compelling overview of the organization and the outlay of funds that she'd need to make it successful. But she's recently heard that AJ Riley is staying at the same hotel she is while attending a conference. She thinks if she can meet him, and perhaps soften the way a bit, she might be able to convince him to give her the money she needs.

After checking with concierge at the hotel, she finds that Mr. Riley has just left, and she hurries across the lobby, she trips spectacularly, and would have fallen, if not for the handsome stranger (AJ) who catches her. Sparks immediately fly for both of them, and shaken she thanks him and walks away. But she can't stop thinking about the handsome stranger who caught her. And when she sees him again in a elevator, she makes a completely uncharacteristic move and seduces him.

In the morning, AJ wakes up and hustles out the door. You see, he knows *exactly* who Lexi is. She is the sister of a photographer that he met a couple of months earlier. He saw her at the showing and was intrigued enough to run scared. He knows instinctively that any interaction with Lexi is going to result in his heart engaging. But when she throws herself at him in the elevator, he can't help but respond. One mind blowing night of sex later, he's SO out of there.

Lexi doesn't realize who AJ is until she goes to his office to keep her appointment set up weeks before. She hasn't stopped thinking about the stranger with whom she had such decadent sex, and how he practically ran out the door. So imagine her surprise when she discovers that the mystery man is AJ. She's even more shocked when he accuses her of sleeping with him to get the grant. She's offended, and leaves in a huff, only to be chased down by AJ, who apologizes and asks to hear her pitch - which she gives, until he again accuses her of sleeping with him to get the grant.

SIGH.

This book reminds me so much of a Harlequin Presents. And not even a particularly good one. It's got a hero who runs so despicably hot and cold as to push all credence. He's loving and sweet one moment, and then, as if he got a lobotomy, he's vicious and nasty to Lexi. He convinces her to go away with him (why she would leave town with him when he's such a horse's ass is beyond me), and when they get there, and are overwhelmed by attraction, they end up having sexy times without benefit of a wrapper. Which OF COURSE results in her trying to "trap" him again. Especially because she should know that he has past baggage that should preclude him EVER having children. He makes some truly vile and IMO unforgivable accusations and off he goes again. This time across the world. Until his best friend (why does this man have ANY friends?) convinces him that he's in love with Lexi and that he should do anything it takes to get her back. Turns out, all it takes is a weak apology.

So, was there anything good about the book? Well, it's set in Australia, which is cool. And the sex for the most part was pretty engaging to read. Except for one scene, which completely squicked me out. No man should lick his leavings from anyone else's legs, even if they're in an elevator where someone might walk in and see "evidence" running down her legs. This is what Kleenex are for, people. But overall, this book read very much as an HP, heavy on the dickhead hero and a way too forgiving heroine. Honestly? I can't imagine how they'd be happy together, but I suppose to each his own.

Ask Adam is an erotic romance that would have benefited from the hero having less of a nasty/distrusting streak and the heroine having more of a spine. While it's got an interesting setting, I'd suggest passing on this book and looking elsewhere for your erotic romance fix.

Final grade: D

PS- Also, the cover? Porntastic. Thank god I read this in eBook format.

Lexi decided to indulge in a one-night stand with the sexy Adam. Unbeknownst to her, not only did Adam know who she was from the beginning, but he's also AJ, the man she's been hoping to meet with in regards to funding her children's charity.

AJ, due to something from his past, isn't exactly the most trusting person. Though he thoroughly enjoyed his explosive night with Lexi, he believes it was orchestrated by her as she's hoping he'll support the charity she wants to start.

Both AJ and Lexi felt more during their time together than the usual one-night stand entails, but AJ isn't thinking of a future because he hasn't quite let go of the past, and as such his actions, and feelings, in regards to Lexi are conflicted.

As AJ and Lexi begin spending time together, their attraction begins growing, but AJ remains guarded, unable to take a chance on being hurt again.

Will AJ ever fully let go of his past? What happened that made AJ into the man he's become? Will he risk his heart and explore what he and Lexi could have together? Will Lexi accomplish her dream of opening the charity? Why does she want to? Will AJ and Lexi get their HEA?

One-click now and follow along as one man meets the only woman that can break him out of his self-imposed exile.

If you've ever read a Jess Dee story, then you know already that you're getting plenty of sexy times ... usually in all kinds of ways (if you feel me lol). I haven't read a lot by her (yet) and I plan to change that very soon. She packs a punch kids. This story ... it was more than just a romance journey with exceptional sexy times. It had emotion and depth!

Adam especially will make you run the whole gamut of emotions. You will hate him while you love him and you will feel for him while you want to slap the stupid from him. You will definitely be conflicted by him but he's got a really big heart with a heck of a lot of baggage .. so be patient :) you'll love him in the end #TRUST And as for Lexi ... there's nothing not to like really.

If you're looking for a solid read with likeable characters and a well developed story-line then just one click away!

Received an ARC for my fair review for netgalley. This book was ok. Lexi and Adam had an explosive one night stand, come to find out that Adam is the guy that Lexi has to ask for a donation. He thinks she was using him, and she is upset that he knew who she was. Thus begins the issues, and Adam annoys you with the his ping pong actions.

There was a lot of lather, rinse, repeat in this one. And I'm not talking about them showering. They meet, sparks fly (or they have sex), they fight. They meet, sparks fly, they fight. That is exactly how it was for the first 100 pages, I know this because I had the realization when I was on page 100.

Lexi... hmmm less cool than she was in the first book. I don't have any particular reason to dislike her, but she was.. I don't know. Well... I might have some ideas that you'll see after the spoiler mark.

Adam. I think he's the first male in a while that I just really didn't love.

And I still don't dislike him.. I just don't think I personally would have put up with his shit. Unless the sex was REALLY that good and I made him grovel for a good while.

The story starts with a scorching hot one-night stand that, unbeknowingly, ends up being with the same man she needs to approach for a large charity donation. Lexi is desperate to raise the money needed for the children's charity she's starting—but how can now that she knows the real identity of her one night love? Adam certainly comes with some baggage. He swears to never get close to anyone again. He's been there before and does not wish to suffer the hurt again. But Lexi rocked his world and he can’t get her out of his mind. That night should have been enough but he ends up wanting so much more, but he ends up wrestling with himself because even though the attraction is strong, he’s determined to protect his heart. Lexi, I found to be quite a strong character with a good heart, she desperately wants the charity to be a success and help people. We find out what Adam has been through in the past and how heartbreaking it is and it’s the reason he won’t put himself in a vulnerable position again. He blew quite hot and cold with Lexi but the reasoning behind this made sense. This was a lovely, heartfelt story with two stubborn but very likeable characters and the sex scenes were hot. It told of tragedy and the dreaded cancer and how this can devastate lives, the sufferers and the ones left behind. I’d recommend this book as although it has some sad moments, it ended with a positive and happy HEA.

From the Publisher:

Can one wild night of passion turn into the romance of a lifetime?

Lexi Tanner’s got a major problem: AJ Riley, the man she’s about to approach for a hefty donation, turns out to be the stranger she shared a night of steamy sex with less than a week past.

My reveiew:

This is the first book I've read by Jess Dee and I was not disappointed. The characters are well developed. Adam comes off as being an ass at first because of the emotional issues that he isn't ready to deal with. Jess Dee does such a wonderful job of expressing his emotions I choked up many times. Lexi is a great character, she's funny and passionate.

It took me on a very emotional journey. One of humour, sadness and great happiness. Very hot! Can't wait to read more of her books.

So what happens when a guy whose name you don’t even know gives you nine orgasms during what you think is a one night stand?

~That’s right Mrs Bueller – NINE TIMES

That’s the start of Ask Adam – Book 2 of the Tanner Siblings. I have not read the first one and had no problem following along.

Lexi is a social worker looking for funding for a program at her hospital, little does she know that her one night stand is the man she has asked for the funds. Adam is a business kingpin with some major angst issues. He eventually works through his issues, although we are told about it, not shown it – which I think would have been more effective.

The way he treats Lexi when he sees her again after their one hot night will make you want to run him over – repeatedly – with a Hummer, or a Bradley Armored Assault Vehicle. And he doesn’t do it just once, so if you are looking for a hero that never treats the heroine as anything other than the goddess she is, then this is not the book for you.

However if you are looking for a man with enough angst for several main characters, and sex so scorching it nearly melted my kindle, then you should probably read Ask Adam.

Four and half stars!

While Adam could be such an ass, the resolution of it all was so great. I don't have any experience with the trauma he experienced, but I can understand his reaction to it. Especially after so much time. It explains why he was so hesitant to give it a real try with Lexi. Lexi... I really can't imagine taking a guy I just met to my hotel room, but I'm not Lexi either. :-) I think she had tons of patience for Adam, especially with how he treated her sometimes. But it was a really neat story with a great HEA.

Chance Seduction is heartbreaking, seductive and irresistible all at once. Ms. Dee continues to surprise me with a versatility that I initially found to be lacking. She proves herself to be a powerhouse in matters of the heart while never losing that sensuality that I've come to expect from her. The seriousness of the story is balanced out by some much needed humor that lightens the heart and ceases to detract from the subject at hand. Impressive.

Adam was an asshat throughout most of the book. Part of me understands some of it due to the pain and loss he suffered in his life. But he runs so hot and cold on Lexi, that I think I would have punched him long before she did. Not a bad story over all.

THOUGHTS ON ASK ADAM:

"Same old story, huh? You get involved, you get hurt."

1. First few pages and it was burning hot already, I cannot. I was not prepared for that kind of attack. I was used with the slow burn of things, not that instant sizzle.

2. I wished, while reading, I wished so hard for Lexi to hold herself back a little. To save something for herself because I was afraid for her but she's not that kind of girl, she's fearless to bare her all. She literally couldn't control herself in front of Adam. I couldn't imagine that in real life.

3. AJ Riley. SO. CRAZY. He's literally hot and cold. He changes his demeanor in an instant. So weird and annoying. But so interesting reading.

4. I would have liked for a longer ending. It felt abrupt. Like it just ended and I didn't feel the closure I needed for their story. I wanted more details. I would have preferred to atleast read some thing about the wedding or the white picket fence house in the epilogue or Lexi meeting Adam's mom or Tracey or Matt's reaction about the happy couple. *sigh*

"It was time to acknowledge that when it came to relationships, Lexi wanted the world. Nothing less than a whole lot of honest-to-goodness, real-life time spent in each other's company would do."

Dee's writing in certainly steamy when it's not tackling tough issues, but I had a hard time with Adam. He could be painfully cruel, nasty...actually bordering on evil, and yet Lexi still accepted each casual apology without batting an eyelid. I'm sorry, but Hugh Jackman could be on his knees begging for my forgiveness and if he treated me the way Adam treated Lexi I'd tell Hugh to take a flying leap off the CN Tower. Her quick forgiveness left me with a bad feeling.

I am still looking forward to reading more of Dee in the near future, though. Hopefully there won't be many more Bad Boys to have to deal with.

It's book was so effing stupid. It had such potential and somewhat likable characters but it fell flat on so many levels... if a man ever treated me the way Adam treated her, I would kick him in the balls and never look back. True love my ass.

The basic storyline was interesting enough and the side characters were fine... hence the two stars and not the three.

Chance Seduction is an emotional, sexy tale. Lexi is trying to get funding for her program that provides support for siblings of cancer patients. There's one man she's been trying to pin down for a meeting to ask for funding, AJ Riley. But he's managed to elude her so far. When she meets a hot man who stirs her in ways someone hasn't in a long time. They have a hot one night stand and she figures she'll never see him again, unfortunately. Then she walks into a meeting with AJ Riley and boom, there he is.

I figured this would be a stock, sexy one night stand turns up again story, but it's more. Adam (AJ) is an emotionally stunted man in so much pain that he cannot allow himself to move on. His son was diagnosed with cancer and died and Adam hasn't been whole since, even though it's been years since he passed. Lexi is the first person since to make him feel, to make him loosen the tight control he has had over his emotions and his life. But, because she makes him feel, he constantly pushes her away so much so that she had to have been suffering from whiplash. He was at turns warm and sweet, then a cold bastard who accused her of ridiculous things. While I absolutely felt for him because it was obvious he wasn't really a bad person (just in a lot of pain), he was so cruel to Lexi so many times that I had a hard time understanding how she could possibly have taken him back. But, when you're in love, you can forgive just about anything.

Chance Seduction turned out to be much deeper and complex than I had been expecting. Adam and Lexi, especially Adam, are fully drawn, deeply layered characters who share a deeply emotional and physical connection. Kudos to Jess Dee for such an emotional, sexy story.

I received an ARC through NetGalley for an honest review.

Chance Seduction is a fun sexy romp with a serious plot through line. As a warning the serious aspects of the plot deals with kids who have cancer.

Lexi is determined to meet AJ Riley when she discovers he is staying at the same hotel as her. Sure, they have an appointment in a couple of weeks but she is determined to win him over to her cause ahead of time. Unfortunately, her efforts to find him amount to nothing. But she does meet a sexy stranger for a passionate one night stand. Unbeknownst to her, that guy is AJ Riley - and while he knows who she is, he also doesn't know that she wants to meet him to convince him to fun her project. When they do meet officially, he's determined to keep away from her, but the attraction between them is making him forget all his arguments for why he doesn't want to get involved. As Lexi starts to break down his emotional barriers, he needs to decide whether keeping his distance is worth it.

Both Lexi and Adam are drawn to each other from the start. What starts out as anonymous one-night stand (at least on Lexi's part) becomes something deeper. Sure, I got annoyed at the hot and cold behavior by Adam, and I wish we had seen more of his epiphany at the end, rather than he relating it to Lexi, but it was clear from the first time they touched that Lexi and Adam were special and meant to be together. The addition of the serious topic of childhood cancer kept this from wholly being a romp, but this was well-balanced with humor and the continued development of the relationship between Lexi and Adam. While this was a fairly predictable read, I did appreciate that Lexi and Adam actually discussed their relationship and nothing was simply swept under the rug in order to have a happy ending.

Chance Seduction is an angst filled story that I couldn't turn the pages quickly enough while devouring it. However, I'm going to get this out early, what kept it from being perfect was the ending was a bit too rushed after all of my feelings were let loose like that! Please please understand, this is just MY OPINION, doesn't mean that others won't feel differently. Lexi Tanner is trying to run down a man who could help her get her children's charity project up off the ground, but in the middle of it, she finds a super hot man that she spends a HOT HOT HOT night with. Imagine her surprise when this hottie turns out to be the man who she needs the donation from. And even worse, he makes it sound like she lied to him, and prostituted herself out. AJ Riley, aka Adam, has spent the past 10 years with severe demons, which has him refusing to move on and love again. But there's something about Lexi that is created cracks in his steel walls, so in order to put on the breaks, he says terrible things to her. That one night should have been enough, but no matter how hard he tries to push her away, it's quickly becoming apparent that it will never be enough. This is the first time that I've read anything by Jess Dee, and I really enjoyed this story. I got mad as hell, and was yelling at Adam through the book like he could hear me, and I loved Lexi so much! Not to mention my eyes may or may not of leaked a time or two from the overpowering angst that seeped through my kindle. See that's how I gauge an author's talent, and Jess Dee has a talented writing style in spades. I can see myself really becoming addicted to her quickly, so I'm excited to read more of her work asap! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Lexi and Adam meet in a hotel lobby where Lexi stumbles into Adam and does not know who he really is. One night of passion ensues and Lexi is none the wiser of who she slept with. Adam knows all along who Lexi is. He determines that she could be detrimental to his heart so he has a Jeckyll/Hyde personality with her. One minute he is cold and the next instant he is professing to want something with her. I found it hard to connect with them at points because of this. Adam does have a real reason for guarding his heart but Lexi put up with too much crap from him at points. There was an interesting dynamic between these two and it was interesting to see how it played out. Cancer does play a big role in this book and how it impacts those around it. I liked how Jess Dee made you feel the full impact of what Adam went through. Would have liked a little more insight into Lexi since she was creating a charity for the siblings of those affected with cancer. I didn't feel all that connected with her because, although given the back story somewhat, I was left wondering why her sister wasn't more involved in the charity. If you have liked the other Entangled Brazen series of books, you will like this one. It was interesting, Adam was a complex character and Lexi seemed to just want to do more good in the world. Overall an easy, quick read. I received an advance reader copy in exchange for a fair review from NetGalley.

Chance Seduction by Jess Dee is the first book in The Seduction series and for me is a five star read.

What an awesome series. This book can be enjoyed time and time again. It is amazingly intense and the author prepares you for the journey for you to take alongside the characters really well. The characters and story development were perfectly done. This book was extremely well written and has fast become of my favourite books. I will definitely want to one click future releases from this author. This book was full of different emotions with many twists and turns in the book that will keep you guessing what is going to happen till the very end.I have the feeling that I am going to be seeing some special works coming from this author.

I could not wait to get to the end so I devoured it in one sitting. Incredible work!!

The storyline was done really well and was believable. It kept me gripped from the very start until the end, so much so I took the book everywhere with me in order to finish it. I adore this book and cannot wait to read the next in the series as well as other work from this amazing author. I will definitely be recommending this author to everyone I know.

I'll definitely look forward to the next in the series.

Lexi had an AMAZING one night stand with a man who she never thought she would see again. When she arrives at a meeting with a potential donor for a new program at the hospital, she is stunned to realize that the man she has not been able to forget is also the one she has to ask for money.

AJ knew Lexi had no idea who he was during their wonderful night together, but he can't help but accuse her of knowing exactly who he was. He can't risk his heart and he feels that if he gives into the pull he feels, he will lose everything.

Lexi and AJ's story is amazing, hot, complicated and heartbreaking. I couldn't get enough, although at times I really wanted to strangle AJ. You knew he loved Lexi, but he was just too scared to risk his heart on her. Lexi was such an amazing character and I instantly loved her. She was so strong and knew AJ was worth any heartache she may receive.

I though the story was wonderful and flowed well. The author did a great job of wrapping up the story in way that made you cry your eyes out. I enjoyed every word and I can't wait to see what she has in store for us next!

I read this book without reading the first in the series and feel that it could be read as a standalone. AJ is a rich entrepreneur with a broken heart and icy anger. Lexi is determined to see her charity thrive and survive. She just needs AJ to help to see her goal achieved. When in Melbourne she literally falls for a dark stranger that leads to 9 orgasm night of hot monkey sex. When she wakes she finds her dark stranger gone. Well needless to say when she returns to Sidney to meet with the AJ about investing in her project lo and behold it’s her dark stranger. AJ (Adam) is determined to not give his heart away again so he’s an utter ASSHAT, which is frustrating because one minute he’s warm and loving with Lexi and the next he treats her like a common whore. I felt bad for Lexi because she keeps falling for it. I was happy to see that they finally got their HEA at the end but the process of getting there was bit maddening.

When Lexi Tanner’s unbelievably hot one-night stand turns out to be the same man she needs to approach for a hefty donation, things certainly get complicated. She’ll do anything to raise the money needed for the children’s charity she’s starting—but how can she ask AJ Riley for money now? Adam knows he’ll never love again. He’s been there and done that. But the sexy woman he had an unbelievable night with causes cracks in his emotional defenses as well as cranks up his libido. One night should have burned her out of his system, but this kind of heat comes with strings.
This was an ok story for me. It was a pretty standard plot with a set of layered characters. The scenes were pretty steamy and the book was a fairly quick read. I just really didn’t like AJ and had a hard time with forgiving him for how he was with Lexi.

2 STARS .

ALTHOUGH, I feel like 2 stars doesn't give the book justice, so I'll confess: If I wasn't sick and sneezing and drowning in my own snot, I'd probably enjoy the story x2 more, therefore, I'll leave the story at 3stars.

The sex was hot -but that's all there was to it. I hated how Adam constantly accused Lexi of scamming him, etc and how easily she forgave him. The whole pregnancy scam was the last straw. That was stupid. First of all, the foundation of a relationship is trust, and if Adam had the audacity of accusing Lexi for trying to get pregnant to scam him- then it's obvious he doesn't trust him. Also, not only did Lexi not acknowledge his lack of trust, she blamed herself for his anger and apologized first. A heroine with no spine whats-so-ever? Count me out.

This was a moderately decent book. It was written strangely though with lots of unexplained flashbacks which is why I won't give it a full 3.5 or 4 star rating. Lexi is a social worker in Australia trying to get a donation for her hospital when she falls prey to some animal magnetism with a sexy stranger at a hotel and they get it on for a night of hot stranger sex. Well, he secretly knows her through his unexplained flashbacks but she doesn't know him. Low and behold this stranger is the donor she is trying to impress and after trial and error they manage to get together again. The author had a decent story line going but it was fairly jumbled and fast paced. I liked both MC's I just wish their stories were flushed out a bit better.
