This is the story of a man who hated running as a child but ended up completing the Marathon des Sables. It follows my training from the first tentative steps, through my first marathon attempt, to a blow by blow account of the crushing lows and soaring highs of my time in the desert. This memoir is an expression and an explanation of my unlikely love affair with running.

I wanted to read this memoir of the author"s journey from new runner to competing in the marathon des sables as I am just getting into running and wanted something to keep me motivated. This did the trick, very interesting. Informative and motivational, really enjoyed reading it.

Kindle versija. Viena no tām grāmatām, ko šajā versijā Amazonē iespējams dabūt bez maksas.

Man gan bija interesanti.

Enjoyable, easy read about one man's running route. Loved at end of book finding out he did MdS with Bing (who I know) and went on to do RoF :-)

Great read

Excellent and entertaining read. A gutsy and brave story. Proving anything is possible if you try. Well recommended to any runner.

3 1/2 stars. Pretty good read. This runner is mainly a marathon runner, but the ultra he decides to do is an intensely challenging one. I just wish the author would have posted a few pictures! Even if he was self-conscious about posting a picture of himself, he could have posted pics of the desert sunsets.

Utterly brilliant account of one guy and his personal journey from nothing to running one of the biggest endurance races on the planet.

Even if you aren't a running buff, the storytelling is magnificent.
