ilmselgelt pole seda raamatut vaja lugeda kellelgi, kes ise ei ela (või ei kahtlusta, et elab) Victoria-aegses majas ja ei ole lisainfo otsingul. minul oli hädasti vaja.

I love these little books. Bought the whole series, one at a time, from the local garden centre. I have an interest in local history and a bit of  architecture - and I like to look things up after a walk maybe;  these are ideal. A lot of books on architecture are a tad deep,  steeped in arcane, convoluted and impenetrable jargon but these are just right. I read this one through from end to end recently. Most impressive and Mr Yorke's drawings are spot on. It comes with a useful timeline and glossary. Can't wait to get out into the avenues and byways again.

I read this right after Yorke's Georgian and Regency Houses Explained, and I liked the flow of information. Yorke does a good job of briefly describing the surrounding eras, so you get an idea of how house styles changed over time. I like how concise the books are. They are packed with useful information, and I like the pictures.

Lovely illustrations compliment the text. This compact book takes a thorough look at features assosiated with this era. Maintains the readers concentration well and can be happy read from start to finish or dipped into for the specific areas you are interested in. I quite happily read straight through and liked it so much I went on to buy more from the series.
