Bobby Collins, one of today's best and funniest comedians, uses the catch phrase “On the Inside” to differentiate between what he really wanted to say and what he actually said. But here’s the real beauty: For more than 30 years, Bobby has entertained thousands by saying exactly what he wants to say… and what he has to say is damn funny!
Fortunately, On the Inside offers so much more. Bobby reveals more than his laser wit – for the first time, he lays out the wisdom he’s been sharing with friends and family for years. Wisdom gained while facing life’s difficulties, including growing up poor, raising a special needs daughter, juggling personal and professional gains and losses… and finally admitting that an NBA career just “ain’t” gonna happen!
Bobby shares how he’s kept his faith strong and maintained his belief that things will all work out for best, told with his trademark humor and honesty. In these pages, you’ll get a glimpse into the world of one of the nation’s top comedians as he takes you along his journey from a tenement in Queens to headline performances at Caesar’s Palace!
So join Bobby On the Inside – inside his mind, beliefs, family and career – as he leads you on a wild ride that will entertain you and hopefully help you develop a positive outlook on your journey.
“Everyone can benefit from ON THE INSIDE. It not only confirms why Bobby’s a Star Performer, it offers up just how he’s managed to balance his professional and family life.” —CHRIS ROCK
“I invite everyone to read ON THE INSIDE so you, too, can get to know the Bobby that I know!” —ROSIE O'DONNELL
First, I must admit that Bobby Collins is one of my favorite stand up comedians. But this book was areal surprise. I expected simply a retelling of his comedy material. The volume is funny but it is so much more than humorous. It is an autobiography and a deeply thought out philosophy and theology of life. The man is amazingly perceptive and has thought a great deal about some very crucial life choices. I have a whole new level of admiration for him as a performer and more importantly, as a man.
I love the way Bobby looks at his journey and how he encourages others to view theirs. His book was a pleasure to read and I took a lot of his wittisisms to heart. He is funny both in person and on the page. If you get a chance to see him live, do! But also read his book.
