Very disappointed with this book, there were lots of anomalies, it needed to be edited, the author did not have the period right at all. For her information Credit cards only came into use in 1966, and then only Barclaycard , it was another 6 years before there was another card, Access! Debit cards came out much later. I don't think the hotel would have been able to keep details if any of their customer used them. I don't think Chloe would have gone to live 'in sin' with her boyfriend, it just did not happen. The term 'Partner' is much more recent, back in the 60s the term used was 'Common Law wife', Toy boy is also a much more recent phrase. Chloe's wedding outfit at the end of the book would have been either a mini, or Maxi or possibly Midi not ballerina. The dubious plot, I found it more than a bit creepy that Rex who was Helen's lover was also in love with her daughter, eventually marrying Chloe after Helen died of cancer (and I am pretty sure there was no breast reconstruction in the 1960s!). Dire and dreadful. A bit more research please!!
