I really loved reading this as my morning devotional this year. Although I've read the book of Psalms may times before, taking a whole year to read, study and digest the beauty of these words was amazing. Mr. Wiersbe instructed, inspired, and delighted me each morning with his insight and I love the psalms even more now. I plan on using this daily devotional again.

If you are used to more heavy-hitting devotionals like Oswald Chambers' My Utmost for His Highest, Wiersbe can seem "light" at times. (Frankly, there are some years that I need my devotional reading to be more comforting than convicting.) But light does not mean "fluffy" since the daily readings shed many insights into the book of Psalms.

I appreciated Wiersbe's explanations of certain Hebrew phrases and Jewish customs, but my favorite aspect of the book was his pithy comments such as:

How well we sleep sometimes indicates how much we really trust the Lord. (from Jan 7)

God does not reveal His will to those who are curious. He reveals His will to those who are obedient. (Feb 24)

Faith is living without scheming. (April 25)

People who don't want to do the will of God live their lives in a little bucket of water. But when we accept His will for our lives, we launch out on an ocean of possibility. (Dec 14)

Not only is Prayer, Praise and Promises a daily dose of encouragement, it's also a pleasant and painless way to work through the Psalms in one year.

Yearlong devotional book on the Psalms. There is a certain feeling of accomplishment in having spent a year studying and meditating on the Psalms. Wiersbe has excellent insights into these verses

Wiersbe writes short devotionals on the Psalms, taking them in sequential order. Each devotion is only one page long. In some cases the author tackles 1 whole Psalm on one page, at other times it takes four or five pages of separate devotions for the writer to cover a Psalm. It's simple and straightforward, hopeful and heuristic. If you're interested in a basic, homely, and reflective walk through the Psalter, this is a decent resource.

One of the most meaningful devotional books I've read...and reread. The Psalms mean so much more to me on a personal level after reading and thinking about the concepts in this book.

This book actually has 365 pages rather than 1 as listed in Goodreads.

I have loved this devotional so much, it is a daily walk through the Psalms and it is relevant year after year. This was given to me be a past friend and I imagine us studying the same devotional at the same tim, bitter sweet.

Great Daily Reflection and Worship

Again Dr. Wiersbe has used his God given gift to teach, and help lead others in an intimate walk with the Lord Jesus Christ. I highly recommend using this book in both personal prayer and worship and/or lead a small group daily in prayer, praise and promises.

Delightful volume that takes readers easily through the Psalms. It's a devotional, but also helpful for Bible teachers and pastors as you do lesson prep in the Psalms.
