There is something about the way that Christine Feehan writes. I think she really pours her heart into her stories. There is so much intensity there. This was a really interesting, enjoyable read.

Oh Christine Feehan....what am I to do with your books? I've needed some escape fiction this year, and Feehan delivered with her extensive series back list - each book acting like a shot of cheap whiskey in a dive bar to help distract me from my troubles. This collection, though, is like one of those huge fruity drinks with loads of tequila and little frilly umbrellas. It's all ooohs and ahhs at first, but there is nothing but regret at the end.

I come to this series having already read the two spin-off series, the complete Sisters of the Heart series and the still going Torpedo Ink series. I had no trouble keeping up with the plots reading in reverse order. I also have no reason to complain when the plots went straight to crazy town as I knew what I was getting into. For a small coastal California town with only 1 small grocery store and strong tourism base in an art community, they encounter way more Russian mob, Russian secret agents, US Intelligence, and terrorists of all varieties than seems typical, and then add the Drake family who can all wield magic in a variety of forms....floating tea cups abound. I don't read these because they make sense. I read these because they're fun. Well, fun until they're not fun anymore. Feehan has a tendency to take a fun romance plot and suddenly have it dive into some very dark subject matter then back for a fun ending. Whiplash. For instance, these books contain several murder/death scenes, torture, violence against children, rape including extended graphic rape scenes, explosions, stalking, and so much more. It's like that tropical, fruity drink I mentioned earlier where it goes down smooth like tasty Kool-aid until the punch of tequila has you puking it all back up later. The fun with the graphic is a weird combo. While this is a theme common in all her books, it doesn't seem as well integrated in this series as later series.

While this is listed as a compilation of the Drake sisters novels, there are 7 Drake sisters. This has only 1 novella and 5 books. I'm no math expert, but 6 books means 1 is missing. Sister Kate's book is absent from this collection. No idea why it was left out, but I did miss having it as Kate is a recurring character in the other books. Therefore, this collection is incomplete.

Generally, the books ranged from 2 to 4 stars, averaging a 3 as a whole collection. As I'm rating this both for content and as a collection, I have to take off an additional star because it is incomplete.

There's a painful pattern in all the books... sex and action. Take that away and you're left with a story that can be told in 2 pages. That saddened me really. I was disappointed. It was a lot of fluff promising a real gourmet meal but just ended up serving plain tofu.
The unrealisticness of it all just made me want to burn the series out of existence (dramatic but an accurate description of how let down the whole series made me feel)

Alas I must finish it and trudge on to the 7th and final chapter of this childish dream of a story.

I enjoyed all of these books, but it is not really 1-6. This set contains 1 and 3-7, which is a bit disappointing as Kate's story is missing.

Magic in the Wind is Sarah's story. Sarah returns to the magical Drake house in Sea Harbor where she is surprised to meet Damon Wilder on her property. Surprised because the gate which was normally locked had unlocked and allowed him in. This could only mean one thing, he was her soul mate.

Oceans of Fire is Abigail's story. Abby is a child of the sea. She lives swimming with her dolphins and they can communicate with her. When she stays out too late with them one evening she comes back to the harbor at the wrong time. She witnesses a murder, an attempted murder and is almost killed herself. She also reunites with a man she had hired to never see again, Interpol agent Aleksandr Volstov. Using her magic, along with that of her sisters, she manages to keep the wounded man alive looking enough for help to come. Wounded and weak, Abbey had no choice when Aleksandr declares he will take her home. She also has no recourse when he declares that he is her fiance, because, in a way it is true.

Dangerous Tides is Libby's story. Libby is the healer in the family. When Tyson Derrick is brought into the emergency room at the local hospital, there is little hope for him. He was badly hurt during a helicopter rescue on a rocky cliff when his harness breaks and he is dropped onto the rocks. Though he is not Libby's patient she is compelled to try to save him with her magic. It works, but she is severely weakened and when a distraught woman attacks her in the waiting room it puts her down. Ty comes to visit her while she is recuperating and they are almost killed when part of a cliff collapses. What is going on with the strange accidents? Libby and Ty have yearned for each other for years, can they stay alive long enough to explore their connection?

In Safe Harbor we finally get Hannah and Jonas. Hannah is a supermodel, but she is also shy and prone to stuttering in public. It is only with the help of her sisters that she has managed to take her career to such heights. Jonas is the local sheriff, but he has been part of the Drake family all his life. His love for Hannah is obvious to everyone but her and when they finally get together it is everything he had dreamed of. When she insists on keeping a commitment to do a show in New York, she asks Jonas to go with her. He refuses and this decision will haunt him for all his days when Hannah is brutally attacked by a knife-wielding maniac who almost succeeds in killing her.

Turbulent Sea brings us Joley's love story. Joley is a rock star with a voice that can seduce anyone, and Ilya Prakenskii is no exception. Ilya works as a bodyguard for Sergei Nikitin. Nikitin is a very dangerous man in the Russian mob and Ilya is working undercover to bring him down. Ilya's family has gifts, just like Joley's family does. She does not realize that he has marked her as his own, and there will be no escape.

Hidden Currents brings us Elle's story. Elle is the seventh daughter of the seventh daughter and is destined to be the mother of the next generation of seven Drake daughters. But first she will have to find a way to live through the torture inflicted upon her by Stavros Gratso, a Russian billionaire who has psychic powers of his own. It will be up to Jackson Deveau, who has been fighting his love for Elle for years, to mount a rescue and then to help Elle recover her moxie.

A good mix of fun & danger

I don’t yet know if I missed either a novella or a book about Kate but otherwise this series is set up for all seven Drake sisters to be in each story, just as they are all deeply involved in the lives of their sisters. Then each story has one of the sisters as the primary focus of the story, which then has the others in support.
The sisters also have the most amazing sex lives, with their chosen partner winding up utterly captivated by the (very) detailed & frequent mind blowing sex that was previously only found in letters to Penthouse magazine!

While not crude, the author doesn’t shy away from being extremely graphic while using quasi-Victorian verbiage to describe some of the action. Each story has an enemy who represents a specific danger to the sister who is the protagonist of the story, although some are equal opportunity villains who are willing to accept extra victims in their evil schemes towards the Drake in question.
It seems to me that each villain grows in villainy as the books go on, with the last one a truly sociopathic psychopath who enjoys killing so much that they make certain to kill for any whim, not necessarily what would be an “expected” or comprehensible motive.

I haven’t yet looked to see if there are other books that feature the Drake sisters but if there are some I will read them!

Drake Sisters Series

Magic in the wind
Sarah finally came home but why? What is the real reason? Damon is hiding from kidnappers, a past of deep pain and guilt. Damon needs a bit of magic to help him release the guilt and to find the kidnappers but can Sarah be the one welding the wand or the gun? Why not both? Can Sarah keep Damon alive long enough to find a connection?

Oceans of Fire
Abbey loves swimming and working with dolphins as much as she needs to be involved with them. They are her saving grace because four years ago she felt her world fall apart. Aleksandr loves being a Interpol Officer and has come to realize that work is not saving him from loving the right woman. It takes a bit of murder, magic and mayhem to get these two people back together again but will it be enough to save them?

Dangerous Tides
Libby was a doctor who traveled the world helping many sick people become well. Tyson did research to get the right drugs into the market to help people to live. What could go wrong with these two people getting together and learning to love each other? Maybe the stories of faith healing or Sam, the cousin, getting in the way? Could it be that or more? Read the recommended book to find out.

Save Harbor
Hannah was a famous model and Jonas was the local sheriff who has loved her since she was very young. Jonas was always protecting Hannah from the crazy people. No one was prepared for the attack that took place and changed her whole world. Who could be continually attacking Hannah and why? Why can’t Jonas find out and take care of the problem? She will never be safe until the person is dealt with but who is it? Read the recommended book to find out.

Turbulent Sea
Joley was a famous singer who needs a bodyguard desperately to safe her from all the misfortunes that are happening around her. Ilya is a bodyguard of a Russian mobster who is being loaned to her for a while. Can Ilya find out who is trying to kill Joley before it’s too late or will someone die? What happens when one person is found out but another incident occurs? Why are people trying to kill Joley when she only wants to help others? Will Joley forgive Ilya for being a bodyguard to a Russian mobster? To have these questions answered read the recommended book.

Hidden Currents
The hardest thing to do is survive. It doesn’t matter what is done to you as long as you survive and Ellie had to learn how to survive again. Jackson had survived because of what Ellie had done for him at the beginning and now he was helping her to find the strength to live.
All the bad things can be turned into something better and used for good but it takes time. Time to read this recommended book.

This series came before the "Bound - Sisters of the Heart" series, so I felt compelled to read them all - very quick, easy to read, fluffy, silly, but entertaining. I was expanding my reading diet by choosing these romances that were recommended to me by a friend at work. They are romance, but they also have elements of mystery and suspense, as well as fantasy, with their "witch" powers. These are all elements of my favorite kind of escape reading. So they were fun, but I am ready to move on to other genres next.

So good, that I'm reading them again and again! More paranormal than fantasy, more suspense and intrigue than some mysteries, and of course, lots of steamy romance -- all make this series one of my favorites! Sea Haven is a bit of a continuation, but is just as great a read (which I'm also re-reading).

Fantastic series! All 6 books are wonderful. I loved them all. All are stories off woman with passion/powers/strength finding love and with men with powers/problems/passion and strength both trying to help children. All good people who have had challenges in their lives.

Sarah Drake story
Sarah's home was whispered in the wind, Damon felt compelled to go to cliff top house where he meets the mysterious Sarah Drake.
Damon is a damaged physically and emotionally from an attack where his close friend and colleague died because he wouldn't give up national security secrets.
When he cuts ties with work and retires to the sleepy town of sea haven. he finds he's not as hidden as he thinks.
Sarah's returned home but not just for good but to protect Damon from bad guys.
What she didn't expect was for Damon to walk through a magically locked gate starting the Drake sister prophecy off.
Great story but amazing start to Drake Sister series.
HEA
Kate Drake story.
Katie is a world renowned writer that feels the pull of home and decides to open a shop in Sea Haven. While riding she bumps into her childhood crush Matthew.
Matt realises noes the time to make a movie and show his true feelings for Kate.
But while checking out her new building an earthquake happens and opens a seal that has kept a angry spirt trapped waiting for the right Drake to bring him peace.
Kate thinks she the invisible boring sister that doesn't have much to give a strong sexy contractor but Matthew so her is so many ways that she's always been perfect for him and he's just been waiting for her to come back home.
Great HEA.
Abigail Drake Story
This is Abigail book who studies sea life mostly dolphins in this story. Abbie has a dark secret that none of sister know but can feel something's wrong. It isn't till Aleksandr Volstov shows up saying he is Abigail fiancé. This book is a lot darker then the others in series. I like that CF has made it darker and more dangerous but also shown there's more to Jonas and Jackson then first shown.
Looking forward to Joley and Hannah's story.
Libby Drake story
This is 4th book in the Drake sister series. Libby is the famous doctor in the family. Libby has alway had feeling for Tyson some not living a lot of confusion, stressed, anger but Libby has alway understood Tyson and how his almost special mind works.
At first I struggled to like Ty because he came across as very insensitive and self-centred but with Libby's help I think he became the man he always wanted to be.
A lot of action happens in this book and a lot of people attacking Libby and Ty.
Didn't enjoy as the others on series but I did liked that all sisters are together and Joley, Elle and Jackson take a bigger role in this book.
Hannah Drake and Jonas Harrington
I absolutely love this book. From the very beginning I've wanted Jonas and Hannah together.
This book is very shocking and graphic. Some may feel too dark but I think it is a much needed tone to the series. It sets Joley and Ilya book up well.
Jonas has loved Hannah Drake his whole life and struggled with her profession and attitude towards him.
Hannah has alway loved Jonas but felt like she's not enough for him.
A lot happens in this book a lot of crying and shocking developments but it moves the lives and story on so well. The ending is beautiful and perfect for both characters. Great HEA
Joley Drake story
Ive got to say I wasn't sure about this book. I'd had so many hopes I was worried CF wouldn't be able to deliver them. I'm really glad to say she did better and beyond what I was expecting.
Joley has alway know Ilya would win in the end. Joley is very stubborn and doesn't like been told what to do even if for her safety. Ilya unfortunately sounds like he's always giving orders. They seem the complete opposite but work beautifully together.
You learn a lot about Ilya past and how his magic works but you also get to see more how both Joley's and Ilya's Magic blend and working together.
A lot happens in this book not just with the two main characters Hh but also the bands lives and relationships play a big part.
This book has a much darker feel to it but I really like that. With Ilya I don't think it would have worked out as good as it did if was lighter like the earlier books in series.
This book does start the story for Elle's book which as your reading you can sense something's not right and something bad is gonna happen to her.
Great ending perfect HEA for the Hh

The drake sisters series is awesome. I read them one after the other and felt bereft at the end of the last one. The books centre round a family of magical sisters. They each have special magical talents and are based in a quaint little seaside town. The characters are well written, the stories weave a delightful and unpredictable plot. I just wish there were more of them.

I like this author but a warning to those that haven't read her, she does a lot of explicit sexual scenes. I'm not into vampires but like her Game, shadow and Sea Haven series.
