*I received a copy from the author in exchange for my honest review*

I just finished reading this book and i wanted to write a review right away since i didn't want to over-think what i wanted to write; i just wanted to put on "paper" how it made me feel; I have to admit that this book confused me... I can understand why some people would say that they did not understand, or see the point of this book because it's one way to interpret it. I just choose to interpret it differently, so here it goes:

This book is about Maggie, a girl in her mid twenties, and her efforts to finding true love. Maggie may be young and fresh out of college, but she managed to set her self at a successful and promising path in the advertising world where she's well-respected by her peers. So, as everything seems to be going well in that aspect of her life, she's still single but not because of the luck of trying to find a suitable mate! Boy, that girl can surely date!!! So at some point she finds herself dating three different people: Andrew, her boss/fuck buddy of two years, Danny, another co-worker and Gabe, a guy she met online. Who will she choose and why? I have to say that I had no idea who she would end up with until she made her decision. The cool thing about this novel, is that we get to be a part of someone's every day life and experience their thoughts and choices. I also loved the lack of drama and angst (i needed a break from these kind of books). So, i choose to interpret this book as a fun, light, easy read that manages to keep the reader interested in the story.

I definitely recommend "Fish in the sea" to those who want to take a break from your usual NA books that are full of drama, insta-love and "broken" people, and experience a beautiful and weird journey in search of true love.

I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

First of all I want to thank the author for giving me a chance to read this. Also I want to promote that my rating was closer to 3,5 stars.

Plot
Maggie, who is the main character, thinks that she can’t find love. She has gone on many dates but hasn’t found the right one yet. The only man that has been a long time in her life is Andrew, who happens to be her boss. But Andrew doesn’t want a relationship so they only have sex. This book follows Maggie from dating to finding the one. That happens with a lot of help from her best friend, Daisy.

Characters
The characters mostly made this a great book. Well that and the fact that Maggie was a good narrator.
Let’s start with Maggie.

Maggie was a great narrator and I loved how she sometimes reminded me of a person from my favorite TV series. She was funny, human and creative. She was also confident, which I found great. People should be happy with the way they are.

Daisy is Maggie’s best friend and neighbor. She is extremely beautiful but of course that gives her trouble. That irritated me a little. She is a little shy but with Maggie’s help she finds a great guy.

Andrew is one of the most interesting characters in this book. He is Maggie’s boss and I don’t know occasional lover? Anyway he’s creative and fun and once his story is out you instantly want to know more. At least I did.

Mrs Talmage is a woman that looks after Maggie’s building. She is curious and loves gossip. She also gives a lot of great advice. She was interesting and weird. I think she was my favorite character in this book.

Danny is a guy that works with Maggie. He is younger than her and very good looking.

My opinion
The whole book was really enjoyable. NA isn’t really my genre so I haven’t read a lot of NA books. I can’t therefor tell if this is a good NA book. I just know that this is a fun and easy read but doesn’t necessarily stick for a long time. Also I’m not sure if it brought some kind of message. What was it that the author wanted to tell us? Fish in the sea wasn’t a bad book. Not even close. It had a lot of pros. Like Maggie’s and Daisy’s friendship. It was real and not at all superficial. Also Mrs Talmage. She was my favourite character in this book because Maggie hated her and because she was weird. But the biggest con (in my opinion) was that sometimes the conversations were so long but the author didn’t tell us who was talking. Therefor I got a little confused and lost my focus. I mean what do you expect from me? English is my second language you know? The thing I enjoyed most was the happy ending. You just feel so satisfied when you see a character better off in the end than in the beginning.
That’s all.

Brief summary
I enjoyed this book, it was an easy read and enjoyable. Yet I didn’t see any message or something that the author wanted to tell us. I sometimes got a little confused by the conversations. The characters mostly make this book what it is.

At last I want to think the author again for giving me a chance to read this. You asked for an honest review and I hope that is what I’ve given.

You had me at hello!! No seriously.... You had me at line three - funny and intelligent! The level of thought that had gone into this book was evident straight away (very clear in each line), however.... it did take me a while to completely get 'in to' this book. I fact I almost gave up at around 20% as it did not appear to be headed in any direction and I thought that maybe the author had ran out of wit and clever ideas. So so glad I continued.

I would have to class this in my 'top ten books' of the year for sure. This book is very well laid out, very well written and full of clever moments. Once I got into it, I had no I idea where the book was headed or would end up. To me that is one of the greatest things to achieve and is certainly a compliment. Unpredictability.... often a hard thing to achieve especially in this genre. This book does not follow the typical equation and that in itself is a move in the right direction. Once I was in the zone, I did not want to put the book down. The reading where real life gets in the way!

I would most certainly recommend this to any of my friends, and, am certain most women would find it a very enjoyable read regardless of what they normally read or their age. The age of the characters was not really obvious from the beginning ( subtly getting the reader to create their own thoughts ), but really it did not matter. They most certainly were not juvenile which adds to the strength of the book. For the record the main female character is mid 20's.

A highly recommended book that only got better as it went on. There were no real huge events and no drama added for the sake of drama just a fairly consistent read from a quarter of the way through right to the end.

While I am not hard to impress I certainly do not hand out 5 stars very easily, if you have read my other reviews you would notice that for sure! I also do not hesitate to stop reading a book as my time is precious! So well done on the Authors efforts!! Great title, cute cover.

My first from this Author and would definitely read more as they become available.

*I received this book in exchange for an honest review.

I skim the other reviews and see that this book received 3 or 4 stars and I'm sitting here thinking what did I miss. What makes this book so great that many reviewers gave it 3 to 4 stars. It wasn't terrible or anything but I didn't see a point.

First off, while the idea of online dating is funny and the author did a good job bringing the humor and reality of it all to light really well, I felt that there were too many instances where there was an overabundance of unnecessary information. Its like she went off on little tangents annd had to bring herself back.

Maggie, oh man, from the moment she "opened" her mouth, I disliked her. Yes, we all criticize and judge our "dates" in our heads, and yes owning your sexuality by doing whatever the F*ck you want is great. Power to ya girl! But, her mentality rubbed me the wrong way. I don't even know if I can fully explain it, it was like a mixture of cockiness with a blend of I'm a genius and beautiful confidence that was not appealing. It felt like Maggie was this awesome woman who could cure cancer and shit. I couldn't tell what her "staple" personality was supposed to be, she was too diverse, too good at potentially everything.
Daisy, being too beautiful to get a date must be tough. -__- and she's shy?! wtf! While all this is certainly possible, the character portrayal wasn't good at pulling sympathy out of me.

Ha. I can't say I was surprised when Maggie ended up with that one guy. The minute he came into the picture I called it, which is kinda sad. And I'm not even sure, actually I'm pretty sure I don't like their relationship. I don't like Daisy's either.

This book was unbearably long, I kept looking to see how far along I was and every time it seemed I was getting further away from the ending than closer. It's the tangents I'm telling you!

Overall, I didn't enjoy it. I didn't like the characters, the plot, the point, the anything really. If Maggie was more relateable I guess I could have been persuaded to give it 3 stars but I didn't like her.

I understand the concept of fishes in the sea, and all though I have personal opinion regarding this saying, this is not the time or place. I began reading this book in order to see how the single female character would navigate through this saying.therefore, I was full of hope and expectations seeing as I am also a single female going through the same issues. However, initially the book is slow and on occasions downright boring. It starts picking up its pace and become more interesting towards the middle. I did like and enjoy the way the author lets us into the character's rationalization of the decisions she makes, some of which I don't agree with but it gives depth to the story line.

My reaction towards her final love decision might be tainted due to my particular views on the saying" there are many fishes in the sea and one must be for me". However, I respect every ones decision over their life choices even if they are fictional characters in a book.

All-all, this is a good read, with a topic we, single or in a relationship, can relate to.

Thank you for allowing me to read& review your book.

I received a copy of this book from the author for an honest review.

It took me longer than average to read this book, mainly because it was an ebook and I prefer the traditional book format. Sometimes there is only so much screen time I can take. Anyway, as a former editor, the one thing that drove me crazy were the double spaces after the periods! I know it's minor, but it drove me up the wall while reading the book.

As for the book itself, I did appreciate that there wasn't the traditional bad boy that I find too often in NA books. But I thought Maggie struggled with not wanting to "whore" herself out, yet she dated and messed around with almost every guy she came in contact with. I think at one point it was 3 guys in less than one week. There were too many different aspects of the story for my liking--I had a hard time keeping the guys straight.

Overall I thought it was a good first story, although it was a little wordy. As a Chicago girl myself, I liked that the book took place in that setting.

since the author asked me to review it. here it goes.

i love how maggie plays around and enjoys being single. i just find this refreshing after all the drams that i had read before this book came. how i wish i can be maggie tat can do whatever i want. she let us feel of being independent that their is no need to rush on choosing a person that you want to be with. however, it's kinda weird for me that they had sex after 1st or 2nd dates. isn't it kinda whory (being a whore) thing? i mean, not to offend the author, i love the scenes of her life but it's too fast for a girl to give her body to anyone. though it is made out of fiction, i just want to say that it should be kinda realistic also. but all in all. i love maggie.
i didn't expect that it is DANNY who she'll be with. i really thought it is doug.

still i commend your effort LUCY KIX for bringing this new adult book. all in all, I LOVE IT.

Okay, I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. It was a good book, but I'm not quite sure what the point was. Basically it's just a story about a girl looking for love. She dates quite a few men, has been in a sexual relationship with her boss for more than two years, and is really picky about who she wants to be with. It's obvious she wants to be married and have a family....I mean who graduates from college and immediately starts online dating? It was good. I will say that it was a toss up for me between Danny and Gabe, but I think I was pulling more for Gabe. I dunno...the whole story was just about her dating and didn't seem to have any real point. Something was just missing for me. There were a few editing mistakes, but nothing major. Like I said it was just okay for me...not great but not terrible either.

I loved this book! It could have been called How Maggie Falls in Love. It just follows her trials and tribulations as she searches for her Fish in the Sea. It's funny in parts, serious in parts, and sexy in parts. The men all sound like they could be based on real guys the author knows, and I wonder if there's a little bit of autobiography in this. Like other reviews have mentioned, it's definitely not as melodramatic as some of the other books in the NA genre, but that's fine. Not every book needs to be the same. This one is definitely different!

Sexy, Sassy Read

I gave this book a five star rating because it rocked! It started off a little slow but soon picked up speed. I love Maggie! She's smart, sexy, adventurous, and not afraid to throw her inhibitions to the side. I wish I could be as lucky in dating and love as she is. I loved all the "fish in the sea" she got to choose from and really feel she ended up with the best one for her. A wonderful, modern day love story. I would definitely recommend this one to my girlfriends!

*ARC given in exchange for my honest review*

Maggie works in advertising and loves her life, but she is looking for someone to share it with. She ends up dating three guys; Gabe who she met online, Danny a coworker and Andrew her boss who she has been with on and off for the past two years. This book was ok. I liked going on the journey with Maggie as she tried to figure out who is the right person for her. I was also glad there was a very happy ending.

I received this book in exchange for a review.

There wasn't much about this book that made me want to keep reading this book. The plot was lacking, there wasn't really anything that made this stand out among some of the other romance books I have read. The author really lost me at the first date, only a few pages in.

The story did not keep me interested through much of the storyline but I kept reading hoping that would change.
