I get where this book was trying to go and it was such a sweet idea to try and make people with bladder issues feel more comfortable with their situations, but this was honestly some of the worst rhyming ever. Just terrible. And perhaps there was just a bit too much poo and pee in there. How much can a pug drink in order to urinate that much?!
This story is NOT suitable for children under like 10 or so. A LOT of crude language is used throughout (even mention of the the dog “choking” on its own leash because he’s embarrassed of his incontinence). Also, the rhyming was kind of awful lol. It IS funny at times, but I’d definitely steer clear of this story if your kiddos are youngsters.
This story is about a Pug named Hug. Hug struggles to make other dog friends because he is different. He struggles with the constant urge to pee. Eventually he meets someone who also has this problem. She is a human girl and unlike the other dogs, she wants to be Hug’s friend.
The theme of this book is acceptance and differences.
★★★★
This book is cute, but I feel as though the story is too simple for the age group that the text correlates with.
I recommend this book because it has a story that many can relate too, because we all have something that makes us different. The illustrations are also very cute.
Oh, where to begin. The rhyme was inconsistent and a little forced. The subject and some of the language used is not what I would have assumed would be a child’s book. It definitely caters to “potty humor.” The whole story is about how Hug the pug can’t stop himself from peeing. He even ends up peeing all over another dog. A human comes along who also admits she wets herself. I’m not sure if the message is supposed to be something along the lines of it being okay if you can’t control your bladder, but I don’t know how I feel about this book. I wouldn’t go out of my way to ban it, but if I saw a student reading it I might feel inclined to ask why. A crude sense of humor never really hurt anyone, and I’m certainly not going to shut a book down for potty humor, but as a teacher I just don’t think this would have any place in my classroom.
This book is written for a focus group which has an important message for young people with bladder issues. I personally was not a fan of this book, though I thought it had lovely illustrations, and the message of the book is an important one, I thought the writing was rather brash am I'm not sure it mightn't make the focus group feel worse about their uncontrollable condition.
The illustrations are cute and stickery, but the story is awful. A little pug who pees when he sneezes and tries to find a friend, then find one in a kid who wears diapers and dresses like a superhero. The tagline for the book is about those with bladder control issues...so I guess it's meant to be in solidarity or with sympathy, but it didn't hit right.

A funny rhyming (albeit not always greatly well) little book about Hug the Pug. Fun and light hearted, but with some bad language - this is a short light story with a message for adults and children over say, 11/12.
Okay .... so I saw this children’s book with a cute dog on it and was like awe. I gotta read that... oh my😂 I leather so hard just reading the first page. Decent book but I couldn’t control my humor😂🤷🏼♀️ however... I don’t know if I would recommend this book for a child
The rhyming in this picture book could have been better. I am not a fan of toilet humour so a lot of the jokes in this picture book weren’t to my taste.
I laughed at the first page. By the time the superhero came, my eyes teared. There is a friend for everyone. We just need to open our eyes and look. I can't wait to read this to my grandgifts.
Based on the cover, this was not what I thought it would be about, but it made me laugh. I think the craziness of the story made me like it more. This poor pug, definitely needs some Hugs. The ending was adorable, and made me love it even more because the girl's name was Cate (That's almost my name). I do wish she adopted Poo as well, so they would be the Fearsome Diaper Trio. Hopefully, there will be a 2nd story where Poo gets adopted. =]
Loved the art, but on the eBook it was only half pages. Please fix this so the story will be on full pages.
I'm clearly not in the target group for this book, but I found it free on Amazon, and the pug looked cute so I read it.
And I enjoyed it. It is funny, well illustrated, and the poem is well written. It has a light tone that fits the subject. It deals with having difficulties finding friends, and another slightly messier problem. It is a cute, and funny children's book that I think is a good read for the youngest readers, or maybe those that are being read to.
this book is hilarious! the ending is just perfect. I'd definitely recommend this to friends :) my daughter likes the pictures and the way it's written
