Homer thought that being inducted as a member of L.O.S.T., the mysterious Society of Legends, Objects, Secrets, and Treasures, would be the key to finding pirate Rumpold Smeller's missing treasure. But when Homer's sworn enemy, Lorelei, forms an evil organization called FOUND, Homer and Dog face an impossible decision: Work with Lorelei to find the prize once and for all, or abandon their lifelong quest to locate the treasure.
In the end, there can be only one owner of the coveted pirate booty: Who will reach it first? And who will be forced to walk the plank? What does FOUND mean for the future of L.O.S.T.? And just what is this famous treasure, anyway?
Adventure abounds in this fun-filled, seaworthy tale of friendship, mystery, and one very special four-legged friend.
Suzanne Selfors lives on an island near Seattle where it rains all the time, which is why she tends to write about cloudy, moss-covered, green places. She's married, has two kids, and writes full time. Her favorite writers are Kurt Vonnegut, Charles Dickens, and most especially, Roald Dahl.
+12 The smells like pirates book is a great book. I personally loved it is a good book for the series by Suzanne Selfors. Just reading this got me hooked into the series with Homer, dog, and Lorelei. The three reminded me of the three musketeers.
I personally think you should read this book if you like treasure hunts, suspense, adventure, and if you like pirates you should read this book. I mean Homer and Dog are a strange, silly, and lovable duo. This is the first book I have read from Suzanne Selfors's SMELLS LIKE DOG series and honestly it was a good book.

Memorable Quotes:"I am known as Rumpold Smeller the pirate. but I was not born with that name.I was born Rumpoldena Smeller, the only daughter of Duke Smeller of Estonia.".
My overall assessment of the book was that the book was very good and it was awesome. It was like I was transported to the places Homer was at and made me think what they would look like in real life. and the back story was amazing if this book was made in to a movie I would give it 5 stars and that is my review.
I thought that this book was a great third book in this series. It was breathtaking and exciting. I liked how to author got me to not put the book down. I cannot wait until the next book. I would recommend this book to anyone.
I have finally completed this trilogy! It took me a long time, but I'm so happy that I decided to finish this series. I thought that this book was pretty good. I still enjoyed all of the characters, and I liked all of the things that made each of them special. I thought that the author did a good job giving them all a proper adventure and ending. Now, none of the characters were very complex in my opinion, but they didn't need to be since this is a middle-grade novel. The plot was also good. It was satisfying to see everything come to a head, and to see the characters dive into the adventure that they have been preparing for in all of the books. I was entertained, and this book definitely didn't lack action. There weren't that many twists that I didn't see coming except for the one at the very end. I wasn't the biggest fan of the end that Homer received. It was good, but I guess that I was hoping for something a little more realistic. I guess everything just ended a little too perfect for me. My main issue with this book was all on me and my tastes. I can just tell that this book is middle-grade. That doesn't mean that I didn't enjoy it, but it doesn't fit my tastes as much as it would've if I was younger. There was no cursing and no sexual content in this book. There was a little violence, but nothing hat a middle-grade reader couldn't handle. This book fits best in the middle-grade category, but I do think that it's possible for people of all ages to read if they know what they are going into. I do recommend this book, especially for younger readers. I think that this is a great, enjoyable series! I have read other books by Suzanne Selfors, and she has never let me down. I'm very happy that I decided to take the time to finish this series!
369 pages. I read one whole section (27 pages) and could not go further. It is boring and I could not really get into the story at all. There were some really icky parts that boys might find funny but I think girls would not like. Also, the fact that a kid was allowed to go with a man in a car for an undetermined amount of time (friend of his father) just creeps me out. The boy named Homer has a dog that can smell treasure. That sounds like a cool thing but honestly the storyline hasn’t kept my attention and I don’t think it will keep a kid’s either. The character is 12 and sibling is older, so it really seems more related to middle school life. I would skip it for elementary, but maybe middle school readers would like it. It is book three in the series (and somehow I missed the first two in my ordering…or maybe they were not available…why don’t book publishing websites clearly state the number in a series when you are purchasing??? Anyway, I would skip this one.
Q: Who was your favorite character and why? A: Lorelei. She really showed character. I mean, I thought she was just going to leave Homer to die in the ocean, but of course, a book can't end that way, so she saved him. She also became a member of L.O.S.T. in the end, and I wish Suzanne Selfors would just write another book about it. Q: What surprised you the most? A: That the L.O.S.T. coin opened the elevator, and that Homer, Lorelei, Hercules, and Dog found Angus (a L.O.S.T. member). Q: Would you change the ending? A: No. Q: Why or why not? A: Madame got what she deserved, and I found out that Lorelei was a Smeller. Like she was Rumpold Smeller the pirate's great, great, great, granddaughter or something like that!

I read this book to my Grade 2 class after Smells Like Dog and Smells Like Treasure and they loved it. It sparks wonder and adventure as well as deconstructs stereotypes in a fun and age-appropriate way without being political. I loved that the characters use no tech to solve their quests and it references a lot of historical things that started great conversations. We even had themed play days based off of these three books. I know my kids will remember this series as one of the highlights of their year.
This book and series is amazon and one of my favorites by far! The story line and characters are great! This series is awesome totally recommend! These books are about a boy named Homer Pudding he is a treasure hunter so was his uncle his dog is also a treasure hunter! In this book Homer's Uncle Drakes best friend Ajitaba (or something like that) came bearing sad news! This is an awesome way to end a series of this is going to be the last book in the series forever! I really hope there are more books added to this series!
The book was very entertaining to read. The plot was well developed and led to a very satisfying resolution. I would recommend the book to anyone who liked the previous books and anyone who enjoys reading adventure books.
Dog is mostly sedentary, but the age 12ish oddball trio hunt pirate Smeller's treasure under deadline. Villain Madame pursues. A diary holds a girl's stupendous secret.
Another great adventure with Homer and company. Exciting adventure, complicated friendships, adorable, if stinky, dog. My 8-year-old and I were both sad to reach the end of the series!
Calling all kids (and parents) who love dogs, pirates, or funny stories! This is the hilarious third book in the "smells like dog" series starring the intrepid Homer Pudding, lover of maps, and his trusty pal Dog, the basset hound. In this adventure, Homer goes up against his arch-nemesis once again in a page-turning treasure hunt. This is a wonderful series for parents and kids alike. I can't wait until my son is old enough to listen to Suzanne Selfors' stories.
I bought this book mostly because it was at the dollar store and the title amused me. On the whole, it's an inoffensive kids' book with over-the-top action. There is some entertaining dialogue as well. I don't know that the older end of the readership this book is meant for would like it as much as the younger side. There were some moments that I felt the book was just getting too ridiculous and/or illogical.
Really good book. Unfotunately I think this is the end to the series. Suzanne kinda left it a little open, but she also tied up any loose ends. I hope she does write more to the series because I would love to go on more adventures with L.O.S.T. And Dog. It was also great how she gave a huge surprise at the end with Loralei. Loved it. Happy Reading :)
A very perfect ending to a very fun and exciting trilogy. I love it when everything gets wrapped up nicely, all my questions are answered, and everyone's story is concluded. Or maybe not, as there is so much more that could happen in the future for these characters and I would be extremely happy to see this series go on for another three books. Keeping my fingers crossed.
We're back for another adventure but with less dramatic action. The case of characters is the same and the situation is over the top as usual. There is some kid-humor in here and villainy galore. A quick read.
i like this book because there is a lot of excitement and i like it because they have to find a treasure and try to get a greedy person out of the way.
