So, I've officially read all of the original Yu-Gi-Oh series. I never knew about these five books until I stumbled across them on Amazon. I have to admit, I really wish that the events of these books had been included in the show. I'm really glad I read them, and now it's almost like the end of era for me finishing this series. It will always be among my favorite manga!

Dear glob, this series is finally over. Only being a 5-volume arc and it still felt like it was too long, not to mention this final installment cashes in at almost 300 pages! There were two battles in this volume, first being Bandit Kieth vs. Jonouchi and Kieth hasn't changed one bit. Except, when he tries to cheat his Black Duel Disc won't let him. Somehow Kieth has been granted an Evil!God card "the Wicked Eraser". And it's just as stupid as it sounds, basically the perfect card, Jonouchi figures out some stupid way to defeat it and of course walks away the victor, he vows to duel Kieth again once he becomes a "true duelist" not a man bent solely on revenge. Ughh, why was this a thing? Finally it's Yako vs. Yugi. It really bugs me that this entire series just made up monsters and cards for their plot instead of using existing cards. It made for too neat of story-telling in order to reach a predictable conclusion. At such a huge volume, the pacing was off as the final duel just dragged on and Yugi found stupid ways to take Yako's perfect strategy down. Gekko's speech to "save" his brother was awkward and uninspiring. Glad it was a short run, now back to the original series with Millennium World!

Hubiera deseado no leerlo.

"R"s final volume begins with an enjoyable rematch between Jonouchi and Bandit Kieth before ending with a solidly satisfying final duel between Yugi and Yako. Both unfold how you would expect. I did enjoy seeing Bandit Keith again. He tries to cheat and fails thanks to the duel disk; instead having to rely on strategy which was a nice change of pace. We see the final wicked god card in all its glory. The art is serviceable. Overall this is definitely a filler storyline easily skipped; especially since the villain's primary goal feels half-baked. But as a big fan of Yu-Gi-Oh manga I do not regret giving it a read.

Hearing how bad this series from others, I was expecting it to be bad but it is not that bad actually. When it slows down and actually focuses on the duels instead of blasting you with like five per chapters it is actually pretty good. Maybe not to the standard as previous duels like with the duels against Marik or Pegasus but they are pretty entertaining. The only real issue is that most of the new characters are pretty bland and while the Tenma brothers are probably the best ones out of all of them they still seem kind of generic.

The art has so many problems wrong with it...
- Yugi's eye color
- Jou's hair color
- Keith's boots up to his knees (What even)
- Shout bubbles covering every page.
- ?!!!?!?! (who does this professionally???)

The story is a mess too... But I mean. I couldn't even focus on it since everyone was always yelling.

A few inconsistancies in the characters, especially in Kaiba and Bandit Keith, otherwise it may have achieved two stars...seems the edition needs to be clarified, concept by Takahashi, story by Ito.
