I tried to read this volume quickly without worrying so much about understanding every word. There were still times when I really wanted to stop and look up words, but I mostly resisted. And I mostly understood the story.
As with previous volumes, the author pretty effectively develops the action and relationships of the characters. I don’t really get the relationship between Jun and his high school lover... but upon reflection, so much of he attraction I think comes from how different they are from each other. They rush into their relationship, too, and their age difference is an issue for sure. I can’t say I’m optimistic about their future together XD
Kaoru and Ritsuko’s relationship is pretty darn cute. Part of me wants to tell Ricchan not to go chasing after someone outside of her faith, though :) Kaoru can be pretty insensitive, too. Sentaro, though... I think he is the real heart of the comic.
The end story about a living mannequin is cute. The first of these short stories that I actually kind of liked.
But so far aku tetep pengin baca dari volume 1 nya karena ceritanya lumayan complicated. Dan aku suka sama bagian extra stories nya.
sentarou and junichi's farewell, playing together for the last time, just tears me apart. IM NOT CRYING (yes i am, drowning in tears )
also.... the scene of yurika and junichi on the train is the reason i believe in romance again...? i can't stop thinking about how perfect of a way that was to end their story. i felt so relieved 🥺 mwah, chef's kiss!
This volume centers primarily on one of my least favorite aspects, the relationship between Jun-Niichan and one of their friends. This romance does not work for me at all, and I'm honestly just waiting for it to be over. Otherwise, the volume is pretty consistent in quality.
The best ending ever!!!!!!!!! Jun-nii and Yurika, I'm rooting for you! Sen and Jun-nii's jazz session, what a match! This manga is classy as hell! I forgot to mention that I stopped halfway of this volume few months ago, because I was not in the mood, but when I started to read again, it managed to touch me within few pages. 3 stars!
A very beautiful, heart-rending story of early love & disappointments. Set in the end of the sixties and extending until the early seventies, it sports the best rendition of Christianity (even if Romanist) I ever read in manga, and focuses on true love, purity, reliability and sensibility. Perhaps not a classic, but award-winning and thoroughly enjoyable.
