The Way of the Cross for the Holy Souls in Purgatory

Rate this book
Recall, reflect, remember, and pray.

Recall loved ones who have died and, in a spirit of true charity, keep in mind other departed souls who may have no one on earth to pray for them.

Reflect on the reality of purgatory and those who, though so close to heaven, must still prepare to enter it. These souls, the Church teaches, can benefit from your prayers for them and whose prayers, in return, can benefit you.

Remember, Station by Station, the Passion and death that Christ endured for those souls, for all souls, for your soul.

Pray that the same Christ, the One who conquered death, may soon welcome into the Eternal Banquet the souls of your loved ones, and the souls of all the faithful departed.

With its one-of-a-kind combination of the traditional prayers of the Stations of the Cross and scriptural reflections focusing on Christ's passion and death, The Way of the Cross for the Holy Souls in Purgatory was an immediate best-seller when first published in 2000. The revised edition is expanded and features beautiful, four-color mosaics from Marytown, home of the National Shrine of St. Maximilian Kolbe.

September 20, 2023: This is still my favorite Way of the Cross book. What if the depictions of the Stations are beautiful to behold? I mean, I know you don't want them to be ugly, but these are mosaics and really eye-catching. I enjoy studying them and I am not sure that is a good thing...

March 2, 2021: These are my favorite Stations! I did them again last night and lingered over the beauty as well as the spirituality of walking the way for the holy souls. Sublime!

April 10, 2020: These were the Stations we used throughout this Lent. In the past year I have lost so many family members (mother, aunt and two uncles) that I wanted to be offering my Walk with Jesus for those I have loved and lost. And not only that, but these stations are just BEAUTIFUL! The words, artwork, prayers, everything about the book, just make me want to pick up this book. Sublime!

March 4, 2018: The Stations are not just for Lent!

I am always on the lookout for inspirational books on the Rosary and Way of the Cross. Not that I don’t already have enough—I do! Yet variety seems to enkindle me with new fire for these two devotions. This little book combines reflections on Christ’s Via Dolorosa with prayers for our dearly departed. The two are so closely connected. A worthwhile addition to my overflowing collection! Also, these are one of the best things we can do for the Holy Souls.

Great resource to pray for those who have passed on. Prayers for all who are in purgatory that the perpetual light shine on them . Merciful Jesus grant them eternal rest.
Prayers using this book will grant those in purgatory to be free to enter into heaven. Each station of the cross brings us closer to Jesus and helps release those bound in purgatory.
How can we not pray for those who are desiring to be brought into the light and the of the Lord, eternally in heaven.
Let us always remember those have have gone before us and the life we have lived. May we all see the light of Jesus and His glory !

I have a burden for the poor souls in Purgatory and a love for this devotion (the Way of the Cross) so was blessed by this book, it is so beautiful with portions and prayers for each station that pertain to the souls in Purgatory. This is my fave among all of the books I've seen so far for this devotion

Another beautiful book for the poor souls from Susan Tassone.

Never forget your beloved dead and pray the Way of the Cross for the poor souls incessantly. They need our prayers and sacrifices more than anything. You will be rewarded a hundredfold in the next life.

Glory to God in all things

Holy souls, holy suffering souls, ora pro nobis. May God grant you eternal rest and blessed repose. Amen.
