A modern version of a classic whodunit: Seattle PI Danny Logan investigates the murder of a beautiful heiress.
Danny Logan has known for a while that his partner, Antoinette "Toni" Blair is an extraordinarily gifted woman. But when she tells him one morning that Sophie Thoms is looking right at her with her "Mona Lisa Eyes", speaking to her with her gaze alone, Logan starts to worry. And for good reason: Sophie Thoms was murdered three months ago.
The police are baffled by the case and they offer no objections when Sophie's father, billionaire industrialist Sir Jacob Thoms, hires Logan PI to represent the family. Danny, Toni, and the rest of the crew dive headlong into a foreign world – a world of wealth and privilege, a world of beautiful women and their superstar boyfriends, a world where normal boundaries and limits no longer seem to apply.
They soon learn that this is not your normal PI case. Then again, nobody ever accused Danny Logan and Toni Blair of being your normal detectives.
M.D. Grayson is the author of the Danny Logan mystery series. He grew up in Las Vegas but now he lives on an island near Seattle with his wife Michelle and their three German shepherds.
Before becoming a full-time writer, Mr. Grayson worked in the construction industry, as an accountant for six l-o-n-g weeks (square peg—round hole), and as a piano player on the Las Vegas strip. When he's not writing, he loves zooming about on two wheels— bicycles and motorcycles alike. In addition, he's a pilot, a boater, and an accomplished musician who's always ready for a jam session!
3.75* Private Investigator Danny Logan, along with his gorgeous partner/girlfriend, are hired by ultra rich Cecilia Ward and her husband Oliver to apprehend the murderer who killed their niece Sophie. Not satisfied with the slow progress of the police department they want action, they want it fast and they have the means to get what they want. The plot is slick and moves along at a good pace, with well developed characters, many who are on the list of suspects and will certainly keep one guessing as to who and why this dastardly deed was done. Author M.D. Grayson has done a fine job of pulling everything together nice and neat, providing the reader with an entertaining, and easy-going story from start to finish.
This is an excellent mystery story with several murders and real believable people deveoped as good guys and potential bad guys. There is a lot of dialogue and it is all believable by real people. Could not put it down till it was over. Then I was sorry to have to lose these friends.
A pretty pedestrian mystery. Read it for the Seattle connection. A lot of reviewers on Amazon thought this slowed the book down; I liked it because I know the locale, but the book was pretty slow anyway. Book is full of improbabilities in plot. Several Amazon reviewers disliked the salty language, but that was actually the most realistic part of the book. The grammatical issues bugged me more. I know that "disinterested" is being used more and more for "uninterested" but to me this still smacks of lack of discrimination: the words legitimately used mean very different things. But to use affect as a noun, as in "The affect of this was to..."? Poor proofreading or just ignorance?
This was a really good 'who dunnit' mystery. Very well written and kept me wanting to read on and find out who the killer was. Loved the characters as well. I would recommend this book. Look forward to other Danny Logan mysteries.
Another awesome book in this series of the Logan PI. I really enjoy how this group works with the police, something many PI's don't. Excellent mystery and characters that become your friends.

This book grips you from the beginning! About the time I had it figured out the story took a turn I wasn't expecting!
This is a highly enjoyable mystery with believable characters, and a credible story line. While it covers murders they are not grisly or gruesome or horribly gritty, unpleasant and sad yes. The guilty party is both a surprise and an 'of course' which is very well done. I will be reading others in the series. The author is male so an unusual choice for me.
I started out on book #4, but hopefully it will not make a difference.
Danny Logan is a PI working in the Seattle area. His agency gets involved in the case of a wealthy heiress who is murdered. It involves the family's work with a nonprofit foundation.
I enjoyed reading it and look forward to reading more in the series.
I really enjoyed this mystery. The characters were interesting and some were even fun at times. The ending was somewhat predictable to me, but that was ok. They got the bad guy!
For starters I really enjoy detective stories and this one is wonderful. An excellent backstory, wonderful and worry banter and not too much unnecessary romance.
After the death of a young Seattle socialite and no results into her murder from the police, her family hire a PI team to find out who killed her. A series of murders follows and somehow they're connected. Lots of twists and turns. A good read!
Good read - much better than I thought it would be. Having family in the Seattle area, and visiting there for many years, I could envision the areas written about. Suspense to the end.
This is a very good mystery which I always enjoy. The only thing I do not like in novels is the detail to location.....streets, highways, etc. This does not add much to the storyline and is boring for me. All the rest was a very good read.
Enjoyable. I grew to like the cast of characters. Cleverly written and a quick read. I'm on a roll of mysteries this month...one of my more favorite ones. Want to read more of the series.
I like a mystery that isn't obvious, and this one fit the bill. I actually did guess right, but I second guessed myself throughout, so that kept it interesting
This story kept me entertained for several hours. I'm a bit doubtful about a police department being so open with PI's, but it has a good plot and characters.
I enjoyed this book, but at times I did a few eye rolls. I like not being able to guess who dunit, but I did this time, it was Brownell I didn't see coming.
