I live in Washington, DC with my husband, kids, two cats and a changing menagerie of other small beasts.
I worked in both the arts and in the business world before giving into my love of story telling after the birth of my oldest -- although it wasn't until after the birth of my youngest when I suddenly had full-time childcare that it all came together for me.
I love discussing books -- almost any books at any time.
One of my great joys is having my children get old enough that we can all read the same things and talk. I am so happy that YA is the flourishing world that it is.
And of course I love Romance. I started back with Kathleen Woodiwiss and Johanna Lindsay and have never given them up since -- although there were a few slow spots along the way.
Well now often can a story change? Limitlessly it seems. Forgive me but I thought that Tristan did not tell Marguerite that he was marrying her to help gain entry to more respected events. If he did then she would not have been so disappointed that he meet her there, knowing why he went surely. But of proofing needed in places. Use of wrong 'to' can be quite irritating, as can mis-spelled words. All in all a good tale, but the weaker of the collection.
I read all three books in this series and gave them all 3 stars. I enjoyed the stories, the characters and plots twits but unfortunately, all three were in major need of editing. There were so many errors on every page, it nearly made me want to stop reading. But, I stuck it out because the stories did keep my attention.
I have read the The Desire Series of stories by Lavinia Kent and have enjoyed them all. I look forward to reading more stories and series in the future.😊😊😊
Tristan and Marquette. Marquette thinks she is pregnant, seeks out Tristan for help. He marries her for his own reasons, she can gain access to parties his presents alone would cause questions.
This book was a challenge for me. I totally liked and cared about the characters and I wanted to see what happened in the end, however, the relationship between Tristan and Marguerite frustrated the heck out of me.
I don't mind when a relationship starts with either one or the other character not being honest about feelings or motives, however, I like to see progress. I like to see them work it out. In this book, every time you think they are coming together.. they take 3 giant steps backward. I don't think that I would have minded if they had some tender, romantic moments throughout the book, but they don't.
There were too many times that I wanted to just stop reading (which I hardly ever do.. I always finish a book once I start) however, I really did want to see what happened. At least the ending was worth it. I guess I just wish that more of those scenes were spread through out the book rather than having them ONLY at the end.
There were also quite a few typos and misspellings.
I discovered and fell in love with Ms. Kent's writing with the Duchess series. I liked the first book in the Desire series..but had similar feelings about the second book as I did with this one. I had hoped that this one would be better .. and was in fact more frustrating to read.
The hero and heroine seemed to be a mismatch at the beginning of the story. She's a bit too naive and pathetic and he a bit too arrogant. How the tables slowly turned and the characters were so much more.
