Werewolf

Rate this book
The small community of Pendelton County Kentucky was a quiet area until a string of grizzly murders began happening. The coroner said it was not by human hands and no animal that he knew of was behind these bizarre mutilation murders. It didn't take long for the Police to realize they were dealing with a werewolf. But not any Werewolf. The legend had come alive. The legend of the ASWANG,... a demon Werewolf like no other monster known to man.

"Werewolf" is an excellent all-round take on a familiar subject. While it's undeniable that the writing is not of literary quality and the author's style could use some polish, it is equally undeniable that it is nonetheless exciting, entertaining, and highly engrossing. The eponymous beast is truly wild, a ruthless predator far removed from the friendly werewolves that are increasingly popular these days. The monster also has a rather unique origin, and even though the story delivers most of the expected elements of a good werewolf tale, there are also a number of creative deviations from the usual formula. The small-town Kentucky setting is well-realized and populated with interesting characters. The writer also gets bonus points for not taking his story past its narrative limits...at around 180 pages, the novel is long enough to develop the plot but not so long that the story gets lost in itself. On the negative side, while the werewolf attacks can be expected to be vicious and gory, the descriptions occasionally go a little to far, and in one scene concerning a lady with child the writer really should have pulled back and left something to the imagination. Also, the book appears to have been very hastily edited. There are a lot of comma splices, misspellings, and other grammatical flubs that, while they don't ruin the story, are at times a bit distracting--there's nothing you can't read through, but you shouldn't really have to. But for the most part this is a fairly well-executed werewolf adventure that grabs the reader by the throat and doesn't let go til the ferocious climax.

Loved it

It was full of suspense, mystery, and murder. I enjoy werewolf books like this story without all of the exotic sex scenes. Pure horror and so much more!!!!
