The synopsis lured me into the world of Scarlett Phoenix and her destiny. The story opens on plans for Scarlett’s birthday. Scarlett and her family had recently relocated from England to New England and that means a new school for Scarlett - complete with rivals that her mother invites to her party. Why am I telling all of this? Because of the party and things that happen there, Scarlett is awakened to her destiny. I will not spoil the story by revealing her destiny, but it leads her on an adventure with the Angels. Some of those Angels are her Guardians, but there is one Angel - the brother of one of her guardian Angels - who desires her for another, much more sinister purpose. What will she do?

Bella Harte has created a new and refreshing take on Angels. She created some memorable characters, magical events, and an ending that captures the essence of love, loss, and rebirth. Her version of the beginning of Time, the fall in the Garden of Eden, and the consequences of that event that stretches from Eden to Scarlett Phoenix in the modern world makes this a compelling read. I look forward to the rest of this series!

My rating - 4 Stars!

An Intellectually Stimulating and a Brilliantly Written Explosive Ride!!!!

As I began to read, I was struck by how “Author Bella Harte” ushers us through an intellectual buffet of brilliance and wonder with her prologue…… Then I was absolutely blow away by her character forming and intricate story telling…. I felt like I was truly within the pages of her novel….. From the supernatural to the completely angelic, the ease with which she flowed onto the pages through the complexities of the characters, plot and storylines were absolutely magnificent…..

Being introduced to the very first character Scarlett on through to the very last page “Author Bella Harte” displays a brilliancy and talent that will resonate long after you have finished…. She creates a world with a little of everything amazing that comes together to make this one of the best reads I have read in a very long time…..From angels to demons, Avatars to the supernatural…. I love how “Author Bella Harte” takes her time to bring us the readers through each wonderfully expressed scene and journey with powerful explanations….. This novel has it all from action, love, divine and overall bad ass content to not only pull you in, but also keep you loving and wanting more…… I truly look forward to reading a great deal more from this author…..

A powerful and brilliantly talented well rounded exciting and awesome read!!!!

It is interesting to note how some books just grab your attention and others you can take or leave and this book is like that for me. Scarlett is a girl with no memories of her past and yet on her 18th birthday she is to awaken and become. Unfortunately for all involved things do not go as planned and only partial memories return leaving Scarlett scared and confused about her destiny. Of Course there is a gorgeous guy Leo who is on hand to help her through it and his evil brother attempts to thwart him at every turn. I just could not get invested in these characters though I liked the idea of the Phoenix and the angels background storyline. I would have liked more action and I felt it was a bit predictable at times though it was still an enjoyable read.

This book is about a young girl whose about to become of age, yet little does she realise she will soon have to face far more problems than the average teen.

The review
I loved this book, it was brilliantly written and I was hooked all the way through. I can't wait to find out more about the characters in the next book. Bella always just gives enough information to keep you guessing.

The Flaws
I loved the story and the plight, although Scarlett seemed to spend an awful lot of time either being carried or falling asleep.

Scarlett Paige has moved to America and is starting a new school. She is having her eighteenth birthday. This book starts out with a prologue about The Creator, Lucifer and angels. I thought this book started out really slow with a lot of exposition and explanation. The writing was pretty good but the pacing was really slow and drawn out. I wasn't immediately drawn to Scarlett or into her life. When Scarlett meets the mysterious Leo, I started to get more interested in what was going on since at that point weird things start happening in Scarlett's life. Since this is the beginning of the series, I think I might like the second book better. 3 stars.

Very likable book. In my minds eye this book was breathtaking with the wings and flying. I don't think I would of liked to wake up on my 18th birthday and find out I was meant to be something/someone else, that I just didn't remember. When I got to the end of this book I was thinking I was going to be a crying mess but the author gave me a reprieve and had a little joy. I am grateful to have the next one to read right after.

This was an entertaining story full of twists and turns. I enjoyed the creativity of the author in taking something that existed in mythology and making it completely her own. I will read the next in like to see what happens to Scarlett Phoenix. A solid 4 stars.
