Synopsis was misleading, they never became rivals.

Details changed throughout the book because the author couldn't keep track of them, and the characters weren't reacting in a realistic way.

Trauma was used as a convenient plot device, not as a consistent part of the character.

I had a hard time getting through this, and I love trashy romance books, so my standard isn't high.
