This is a fun, fast paced book about organized crime in South Africa. Human smuggling is the core of the story but vendetta's personal baggage etc comes into play very soon in the book.
The characters, from the American to the SA Detective Captain and Emily shows growth throughout. Actually, Emily, who has at best cameo appearances in the book is the one character that shows the most growth.

The book is brilliant in world building starting in Pretoria, South Africa and moving through Dark Africa. Yes, we in South Africa actually do refer to any place outside our own border as Dark Africa.

This and many more truly South African slants is to be found in the book amongst which is the triple hold handshake etc. As for the mystery and intrigue the book does not disappoint and the plot moves continually, with a pace that will have you paging continually to see what happens next.

The intrigue, double crossing etc is not all that the book offers, some humor can be found.

As for editing, cover etc this book is well polished.

As for general enjoyment, this book is a 5* read. Not only for its specific genre but also for the way in which the story is told and keeps unfolding.

This was a book with so much suspense and twists that you wondered if there ever would be a happy ending to this story. It is powerfully written that kept you on the edge of your seat.
Each character strong and believable as you travel the continent of Africa in the chase to find Emily, an American Ambassador's daughter that was to be sold as a sex slave.
It is about revenge, determination, believing in yourself and finding the courage to be strong in the midst of your enemies. It is also about people working together to get to the heart of these sick and selfish men that wanted to destroy the soul of another.
Corruption is evident throughout the book, typical African culture and the control of money in their lives.
Frank, a South African detective and Nick, a CIA agent stationed in South Africa had to work together to find this young woman in the nick of time. At first the two men had a hard time working together but soon you see a bond formed due to mutual believes and trust.
It is heart felt, thought provoking, brutal and filled with enough adventure to make this a great book.
Really enjoyed this book from beginning to the end.

Now for cover wise this book doesn't call out to me but when I read the blurb and title I figured it was going to be good. I was not disappointed. Once I started this book it was hard for me to put down.

We have Detective Frank and CIA Agent Nick who will stop at nothing to find this missing girl named Emily. Why just her though? Well she is the daughter of an American Ambassador. It was pretty cool having Nick and Frank work together because they really seemed to get each other.

This setting all takes place in South Africa and man oh man it sounds scary to be there especially if you are American. There are a few scenes that had me gasping like a fish out of water but I loved how it was brutal. So it felt like these situations could happen. I don't think I have read many books where the country is brought to life and what actually runs a country. It is all about money.

As Frank and Nick along with a couple of friends who Nick knows they will uncover so much and finally learn who was behind the kidnapping of Emily. Everything makes a full circle for a reason you just have find out why.

This book was filled with plenty of action and flowed at a steady past which was great.

I hope this author continues writing and especially writing with this character Frank.

Edge sitter

I've chose this title because it was just that.A real edge sitter. What I found sad was the fact that this is reality. One never knows how close this is to us.Gives us something to think about and discuss ways of staying safe and aware of our surroundings and others.especially our youth.Enjoy.

Action thriller where the US citizens and their friends save a young white girl from the bad guys - African sex slave traffickers and dissolute Arabs. Plenty of stereotypes and lots of violence and machismo.

An action packed thriller. Typical spoiled teenager avoids her bodyguards to enable her kidnapping and attempts to sell her into the sex trade. Brutal torture and death scenes that make this reader want to avoid any visits to Africa. Lots of action that is well described so that the reader feels they are in the midst of it. Nice twist in the end. I like that all loose ends are tied up in the end with everyone happy and ready for the next adventure. Definitely a lot of despicable characters along the way.

Follows the same formula of books I've read on the same subject, other than the countries involved being different. That said, it is powerfully written.
One annoyance is the number of chapters. They were far too short and new chapters were often started where really, they weren't needed in my opinion.

This book kept me reading way into the night when normal people should be asleep. The author managed to captivate the Southern African flavor throughout while keeping the tension strong. I loved the characterization and the way each character developed and grew through the story. I will definitely read more of this author's books.

This was a scary page-turning read. The girl is kidnapped. A cast of characters went to rescue her and by the end I needed rescuing the story is so intense. I think because it seemed so believable with the bad guys being terrorists but also working to steal white girls for the sex-slave trade. Yikes!

This is a fantastic read. It is an intense, eye opening, vigilante justice style race to try and save a diplomats daughter from being sold as a sex slave. TC is a wonderful writer his characters are gritty, harsh, yet hopefully optimistic with a sprinkling of humor. Just what you would expects from a crusty murder investigator.

An exciting and action packed story . I did think the book would have been very much improved if the point of view of the victims had been included.
