Grace Ogot (May 15, 1930 – March 18, 2015) was a Kenyan author, nurse, journalist, politician and diplomat. Together with Charity Waciuma she is the first Anglophone female Kenyan writer to be published.
Described as a reinterpretation of Luo mythology and originally published in Dholuo, this story contains a lot of repetition of phrases and shifting between perspectives of characters, so it becomes a bit tedious, but maybe that's to be expected of a myth.
I need to read more African mythology. I loved that this touches on African spiritual practices that spotlight harmony between human beings and nature.
