This book was a great book covering mental health and I even learned things about biopolar disorder I didn’t know. Not so great what happened to her brother and sister but it shows you from different sides of the family and I think it’s good she can forgive her mum. It’s so sad and makes you think.

My heart ached the moment I finished the book. I couldn't imagine the pain she felt and experienced. How the memories and loneliness flooding through her mind as she was writing this book. This may happened years ago but the pain will never fade. The trauma she went through– She was brave, and strong that I got very attached (still now) with the story. I felt proud as I knew she managed to overcome it. More love and support for the author. ♡

p.s It was years ago when I read this book from the school's library I went to. How I wish I have my own copy so I can keep it and read it again when I have spare time. Will never get tired of reading this.

Inspired by true story! wow, this really happened in someone's life?
I was on holidays and found a book store that you can exchange books you read with books in the store. PS, this shop is in Hua Hin, Thailand. I love the idea of the store! I picked up this book knowing nothing about it. I was surprised with the story and happy to pick up this book.

Deep and emotional. A true story showing us how the society could help and how easy it is to fall through the cracks when mental health is not assessed even though there were clearly red herrings... The author was very strong and brave to communicate her true story... My heart went to hear and momo and mellie...

Possibly the quickest I have ever finished a book, Nikkia does an amazing job in explaining her life story and makes you feel like you are in the situations she was in. No book has made me cry like this one did, absolutely amazing and I will always recommend this.

such a heartbreaking story written so wonderfully to reflect her thoughts and feelings after experiencing so much trauma and instability - a must read to understand the child’s perspective and how they view their parents even after experiencing abuse and neglect

I think this book is such an awesome book. I couldn't imagine that I'm actually reading a true story of a hardship faced by a person. It is really inspiring as I know that even though sometimes I get motivated in my life, there are many people that facing even a harder time. I get mesmerized on how the main character finally could survive in her life and live a normal live even though her mother is still in the mental hospital. She is such a very strong person as she managed to forgive her mother and love her unconditionally.

It is true that the ultimate form of love is forgiveness. A book based on true story, I couldn't help but felt overwhelmed with mixture of emotions reading this book chapter by chapter. Drugs and substance abuse that is rampant today had indeed destroyed many souls and break many families. Seeing how strong the author had been throughout her hardship, I couldn't help but thank God for that. For those who are currently facing so many difficult things in life, this book serve a reminder that we can be as strong as we choose to be.

This book put me through a whole range of emotions. From anger to sorrow, confusion and even pity, it's hard to believe how young the author was and what a tale she has of her early years. The book follows the life of Nikkia Roberson as she comes to terms dealing with the fact that her mum killed her two siblings. Whilst the author has come to terms with her mother's mental illness, I personally struggle to understand how the system failed to protect the kids.

I picked this up because, listening to some human tragedy or other on the news, my reaction was so uncaring that I felt ashamed of myself. These tragedies involve people, with lives and feelings, so I thought I'd read about one.

And the chief thing that struck me was how honest and loving the author is - she loved her mother despite everything. Sometimes you can find greater hearts in a bad setting than a good one, and I will think of her every time there's another of these horrible stories.

The 'tale of forgiveness' didn't quite unfold purely on grounds of love & forgiveness but on a well calculated, logical understanding of the presence of the mental ailment. It didn't seem to carry the essence of forgiveness & love ultimately.

such a sad story but she has obviously dealt with it in a positive way. I really feel for her and hope life is kind to her from now on.
