Life has been cruel to Grace Collins. Orphaned as a child, she is raised by her severely religious aunt, Emily. Starved of love, she falls for the first man who shows her affection, Barry Swan. And when Grace falls pregnant, Emily disowns her. Barry and Grace marry and, for a while, she knows happiness. Barry adores her and is a wonderful father, but Grace feels that something is missing. When Barry indulges her passion for ballroom dancing, the gap seems to be filled - until she meets Philip Golding. He sweeps Grace off her feet, showing her what she believes is a better way of life. But as he draws her into a web of deceit, she discovers that all that glitters is not gold...
Before becoming a writer, I was a Placement Support Worker and foster carer, and worked in the social services department after completing a teacher training course. Many children have joined my family over the years. I still live in Nuneaton, where many of my books are set, with my husband, Trevor, and our beloved dogs.
I was thrilled to discover that I'd become one of the top 250 most-borrowed library authors in the UK, and would like to thank all of you who have taken out my books over the last few years! I love meeting my readers and am always pleased to hear from you. I hope you will all continue to get in touch and please do sign up for my newsletter!
What a slog! The audiobook was comprised of 16 hours of moping and over-the-top misery. There were times it was so ridiculous that I would have thought it was a Dickens parody if it weren't so utterly humorless.
This was a brilliant book to read. That is no surprise as one comes to expect a brilliant and gripping storyline from Rosie. This book is about Grace, abused as a child by a cruel Aunt with an axe to grind. Grace marries to get away from her aunt, but an affair brings everything she has crashing down. Her life spirals out of control until circumstances take a different turn. This book comes HIGHLY RECOMMENDED by me.
I have never read any books by this author before and I found it very easy reading, but oh what misery. Lots of tears and ashen faces. How can so many bad things happen to one person, and how could Grace have been so gullible? Might consider another Rosie Goodwin book if I have nothing more cheery in my kindle library.
My mum listened to this book first. Having bad eyesight means mum can't read books but she has an MP3 player from Calibre. This is just the first book of Rosie's that mum read - she loved it. Just as I did. Thank you Rosie.
I was fully engrossed in the story and the people in it, I cared, loved some, disliked others characters and was thoughly wrapped up in their lives right up to the end, would love a follow up book on what happened to them all
Heart breaking in parts. Thrilling book it, is a must read . Could not put it down. Did not like the lover boy used her but glad they got back as a family again.
