Such a funny and entertaining book #4 --- having Jolie, Mouse & Hope in this series was the highlight of the plotline. A highly recommended book #4 and series!

My fave book is definitely book 2, but this one is a close second. I loved it A LOT!! Probably because there’s a lot of Hope and Jolie (book 2) and everything that involves them or just one of them is just super funny and endearing. But I also loved this story and how in here it was the werewolf that was claimed and not the other way around hehe really loved this awesome twist! Emily and Luc were super funny as well and I fell in love with both of them right away. 100% recommend

Silver Collar, the 4th book in the Garoul series, was even better than I hoped. The book felt very similar to the best in the series, Ambereye (book 2). Too me Ambereye was one of the better paranormal, f/f, romances, I've read in a while. While Silver Collar did not have as big as a romance as Ambereye, so many of the elements that made the writing so great was in this book too. Including, the humor of being in a head-space of a werewolf. There was multiple times I laughed out loud from Jolie's thoughts and behaviors as well as Luc's. In book 3 we question if Luc is evil, to me she's very much like Jolie, just a bit more crazy and wolven, but still likeable. The other main character Emily, was likeable too. I was glad that Mcknight didn't maker her a flawless person. I don't like my characters too perfect.
If you enjoyed Ambereye, read this you won't be disappointed!

Two thumbs up!

This story is a fascinating blend of all the charming, strong, bold, rough and sensitive characters from the previous books. Except from the first one and that's the only thing I've missed in this installment. But otherwise the author has not disappointed me. Her writingstyle is fabulous and her description of this crazy, complex were world is amazing. Do yourself a huge favor and read the whole series. It’s absolutely worth it. I have to warn you, it is very addictive.

This is the 4th book in the Garoul series and if you've read this far, then you definitely have to read Silver Collar. The author hasn't run out of ideas. The book is a bit uneven, but it's probably because the lead character herself is like that--cunning yet naive, wild yet ritualistic, and totally unpredictable. Like the Elite Ops and Supreme Constellations series, Gill Mcknight's Garoul series ranks way up there on my list as the only book series that never gets boring.

This fourth installment in the Garoul series is a delightful addition to the set. The principal werewolf character is bad girl Luc, who meets a human antagonist hell-bent on dissecting and/or destroying her. All I can tell you is that Luc, a resourceful super-predator, finds herself for once at a huge disadvantage.

I've loved these paranormal "beauty and the beast" (the sexy werewolves are both beast and beauty) lesbian romances right from the start. Since Ambereye (second in the series), they are less plot-driven, more about the special accommodations a human and a wolf-human must attempt in becoming a couple. Ambereye was hilarious, and poignant, because it provided all manner of insight into the lupine playfulness and devotion of the monstrous shapeshifters (McKnight was brilliant to introduce a little canine mongrel as a foil to the werewolves' top-of-the-food-chain personae).

In Silver Collar, we realize that Luc is near-feral above all by comparison with the hyper-civilized werewolf pack residing in the ancestral forested valley of Little Dip, in Oregon. She has all kinds of peculiar drives (including a fixation with arboreal heights, and with hoarding assorted "trophies," as if she were some sort of colossal squirrel) that set her apart from her more settled relatives and provide a lot of the humor in her narrative. But these quirks are also the keys to her animal being. McKnight does a wonderful job of revealing the guilelessness at the core of the scary, morally dubious were-human.

These novels are always worth savoring. Humor and angst are balanced against luminous sharply focused descriptions of the natural scene.

I've enjoyed all of sharp-witted Gill McKnight's Garoul seris, but I didn't think she could equal my favorite "Ambereye." "Silver Collar" equals and maybe tops it. McKnight has honed her descriptive tools so that she puts you right in the scene, in her character's skin better than almost every author I've read. She somehow manages to take the character, Luc, who you've learned to despise in "Indigo Moon," and turns her into a bumbling lovable werewolf you just want to hug. The story is so masterfully crafted that Jolie, my other favorite werewolf, plays a significant role in the story without outshining Luc. When Luc becomes obsessed with Emily, the scene in which she sneaks into Emily's bedroom to explore and steal a souvenier will make you laugh out loud. I did.

This is a delightful, fast-paced tale you shouldn't miss.

Yup, another 5'r.

Surprisingly light read, given Luc's vicious nature from the last book. I imagined it to go way different than it did. The humor got me again eventhough it wasn't the LOL kind, more the grin-like-an-idiot one.

Luc's innocence /naivete/denial regarding her emotions towards Emily is endearing.

It was sweet how they found comfort in the simplest things (Emily' backpack or shoes, Luc's scent). They knew something was up yet they chose not to recognize it.

I was half correct in my hunch on what the silver collar was the moment Emily snapped it on. (yeah, my brain has a bad habit of spoiling stuff for me).

I loved the fact that almost all the characters from the series made an appearance. Especially Hope, Jolie, and Taddy.

I loved this book. I liked the fact that Emily was just as weird with the mating habits as Luc was. In previous books it was always the wolven that did the strange crap and the humans wondering what was going on with this mating behavior. I liked the fact that while Emily didn't understand what she was doing, she was also initiating the mating rituals. I also liked the nest building as I have been known to that with my wife and blankets too.

I'm ready for the next one in the series already.

Took me about 50 ebook pages to get into this, but I ended up liking it. In a way it was the reverse of the previous one, which I liked alot for the first half, and then it seemed too disjointed and had too many plot holes to be good (the one that sticks in my head from book 3 is Isabelle somehow knowing "wolven" terminology when she was never once told any of it). This one wasn't necessarily as disjointed in the beginning, just slow to interest me.

I was very happy to see another book in the series though, overall I have enjoyed them from the first.

I liked this one quite a bit. More than Indigo Moon, probably just because I missed all the humor from Ambereye and Hope and Jolie's interactions. I've been in a big humor mood lately, so If I wasn't my review might be the opposite, with the darker Indigo Moon bring my favorite. Who knows?

Whatever, I really liked them all.

Really loved this series. I found that I became totally immersed in the lives of the characters and the way in which Gill McKnight was able to develop the quirks of each of them. This kind of character development made the story believable and engaging. Would highly recommend the series, which I consumed in less than 3 days!

The whole concept of evil character from the beginning of a story turned into a main character always hook me up. I won't hesitate to say that this whole story's concept is my most favorite out of all the Garoul series.

I feel like this one really deserve an epilogue. I am wondering if this author has problem with perfecting every of her endings or something, because I am sure the second book and third book also make me feel abrupt. Almost everything is great, from the story line to the concept and the characters development, excepted the climax is dissatisfying.

PS: Why is it that the Garouls are always the one who do the pleasuring, and the human (or ex-human) never return the favor? There are none of those type of scenes in this book (kinda), but I waited until the fourth book to comment about this.

I need the next installment! Another great book in one of my new favorite series, Silver Collar gripped me from the beginning and held on all the way through. This book wasn't mystery and horror like the first one, romantic comedy like the second or dark mystery thriller like the third, it was mostly an action packed tale of survival.

I liked Emily a lot, she was very sympathetic with a collection of anxieties and flaws, but also strengths that made me care for her deeply. Luc was interesting and it was great work on McKnight's part to make you start to care about someone who seemed purely like a monster for the last part of the previous book and the first half of this one.

My only problem with it, is that once again it ends too abruptly leaving you wanting more closure. I also felt that Emily and Luc needed one more scene together after all the craziness was over to give themselves to each other.

Still an excellent book and highly recommended, especially for fans of the series.

"tasted scent...Sly suggestions swilling around her teeth until she snapped them away like flies."

I love that sentence. A well turned phrase makes a book fun to read.

I read Silver Collar again today (7/13/13) and remembered some of the fun I had with this book and all of the Garoul series. When you enter Little Dip, you'll be enthralled by intense scenes, laugh at foolishness and engage with characters you can relate to.

Oh - and if you feel clumsy and awkward, don't worry, you can still get the girl. At least that's what I read. :)

This was a really charming, fun story. I was thinking this 4th tale in the series would be dark since it focused on Luc from the 3rd book but it had a tone closer to Ambereye. I really enjoyed getting to know Luc, the feral werewolf and her meeting her match in Emily. It was great to have two clever, determined hunters going after each other. It was also fun to have so much of the Garoul family make appearances. Definitely recommend reading.

Outstanding!

Yep, the whole 4 books are outstanding. Very well written. This one is the funniest but I think it's more to do with the lead character. The author has a very dry sense of humour, I say bordering sarcasm at times. But saying this it suits the lead character. You find yourself laughing even though it can be quite serious. Not sure I will ever eat a ham sandwich again. Read you'll love it, I did.

I loved the Luc story! The little surprise here and there. Jolie and Mouse’s (and the little dog) arc! Hilarious! It intrigued me so much about the “feral” lovemaking. I wish there was at least one full scene about it. But whatever the author felt like showing was pretty good and decent. 4 1/2.

HI-larious!!!!

Ok-ok, I know what you're thinking... what?

Luc was a werewolf. Luc was a werewolf on the run from her own family, including her pain-in-the-butt twin sister. Luc was a werewolf with a kleptomania problem!

We first met Luc at the end of the third story. Silver Collar, the fifth, picked up where the last one left off in the fourth installment. I didn't like Luc at first. I thought she was going to be the typical run-of-the-mill, bad guy. Nope, not even close. I had a stupid grin plastered on my face whenever Luc was present, and my grin would always evolve to amused laughter at her antics and her klepto ways. Picture it, a big, bad werewolf who could decapitate a person with one swipe of the paw, stealing a pair of high-heeled shoes, clutching them to herself like her life depended on it. Hilarious.

Silver Collar also let us reunite with previous characters whom I loved, and we were also introduced to new characters. I will not give away one particular new character and their relation to Luc, though.

You gotta read this whole series if you love shapeshifters as much as I do.

The humor and werewolf romance/courting took center stage in this engaging story. Besides being captivated by Luc's story, I was also very happy to see Emily's return in this book. I enjoyed Luc's crafty and sneaky ways and I also enjoyed Emily's headstrong, openhearted personality. I adore Emily's big heart and I am really happy that she showed up in this captivating story. I really enjoyed the banter and the humorous moments between the members of the Garoul clan and this story makes me long for another book in this awesome series! This is not the regular run of the mill romance and that is a huge bonus for me because the Garoul series is my favorite paranormal/romance series.

I loved this book it was a great read, hard to put down! Is this the last in the series? I do hope not :| I have to say though there was just one main part in this book that I found hard to get my head around.. if Luc was an 8ft tall Were and the silver collar was tight around her neck in Were from, how on earth was there difficulty in removing it in human form, surely it would have just slid right off???

Fun romp if I don't think about it too hard.

Once I start I notice things that don't quite add up and characters that seem recycled.

So I'll stop now ;)

Will read another if there will be one because the Garoul's are a fascinating bunch.
