It's back. And it's more awkward than ever. Ever been screwed over by predictive text on your smart phone? You are not alone.Damn You, Autocorrect! 2 brings together more of the laugh-out-loud funny and painfully embarrassing posts from the hit website, which highlight the hilarity that often ensues when text messaging goes wrong. This second volume of epic autocorrect fails is packed with never-before-seen content, as well as the most cringe-worthy posts from Damnyouautocorrect.com.READ THIS BOOK BEFORE YOU HIT SEND.
1. You read the first Damn You Autocorrect book, and reading this one will give you a sense of completion.
2. It's the only way to find out for sure if the title really is as high-concept as it sounds, or if it's some kind of obscure metaphor.
3. Stephen Fry is quoted as saying this book is "completely and utterly hilarious," and when has Stephen Fry ever led you wrong?
4. You can see all the really filthy stuff I didn't post in my updates.
5. You can find a simple cooking suggestion to help you use up all those priests you have lying around getting overripe in your kitchen.
6. You can learn why autocorrect does hilarious things to some people's texts, but is totally boring when it comes to yours.
7. You can find that information in an introduction that's way shorter than the introduction to the first volume of autocorrect awesomeness, because apparently they read my complaint about that first lengthy introduction and took it seriously.
8. If you're falling behind on your Goodreads Reading Challenge, this book can help you catch up way more easily than those pesky classics of great literature.
9. You can learn from the many, many examples in this book that when it comes to texting someone in whom you have a romantic interest, you should ALWAYS reread your texts to that person before hitting "send."
10. Reading this book on my recommendation will earn me valuable bonus points I can redeem somewhere, I'm pretty sure.
3.5 stars, more of the same as the first book but just as funny, for me anyway :).
Once again, glad I took AutoCorrect off my phone (no offense to those of you who like it but it drove me nuts) and that mine that were corrected weren't as bad as some of these.
It' s a fast and easy read, some of the texts weren't that funny for me (like in the first book) but I think this can apply to different senses of humor.
I really shouldn't be allowed near these DYAC books.
I devour them within the space of hours, and I laugh so hard I annoy my boyfriend. That's right, folks, he'd rather see me suffer than see my tears of laughter when I briefly emerge from these books for water and bathroom breaks.
I don't know what it is about them. Each entry in this book is not necessarily roll on the floor worthy, but when you read one after the other, each piles a little bit more funny on top of the pile of funnies from before.
I will continue to buy these books for as long as they continue to make them, boyfriend be damned.
I'm not really sure how to rate this as it's entirely unlike every other book I review on here. But it achieved its job and made me laugh out loud, quite a fair amount actually. The last chapter 'Trail Fails' is my favourite and had me almost peeing my pants it was that hilarious.
Some of the pictures were a little fuzzy and could have handled a bit of touching up but other than that no complaints. At times the language is a bit explicit so if swearing isn't your thing then watch out for that.
If you're in need of a good laugh and/or are feeling a bit down then I'd definitely check this out.
I received this as a Christmas gift a couple years back, and if you need a book to pick up and chortle at occasionally - well this is it! Much similar to what you'd find on your Tumblr dash or Facebook feed.
This book is full of sex and sleaze. Most text errors just have spelling mistakes; but these Americans manage to take it to a whole new level. Granted, there’s no-one actually doing it, but most entries imply that there’s something going on. From time with the family to getting closer with friends; we learn of the general public’s suggestive bad habits and their petite denial to cover their acts. The messages are funnier when you read of the receiver’s reaction rather than the sender’s (sometimes) attempts to correct themselves; though these are also amusing. Sometimes you want to get to see the story behind these texts and the relationships that these people share together but as they’ve anonymously donated them to a website; and hey don’t want people to delve too much into their private lives. It’s a book to make you titter and groan but there’s no real LOL moments. And we can only conclude that Siri is horny.
This still had me crying with laughter, only slightly less than the first one, but it loses a star due to repeating a few of them from the first as well. My favourite was the text from the secretary that starts "Dead Boss," and ends with "kind farts" - the boss's reply was hilarious, I was weeping. These books are so silly but I love them.
I laugh so hard at some of these. My husband and I read these together as a way to have a laugh without thinking too hard! The last chapter of this book, "Trail Fails," is particularly hilarious.
This type of book is great as a "palate cleanser" between heavier reading or when you are in the mood for an easy laugh!
I'm a sucker for internet pop culture in books which might not be everyone's cup of tea. I got this book at a library sale and I read it on a day my anxiety was really high. It made me laugh so much.... I really appreciated the time I spent with this book :')
Laugh Out Loud funny. If you read the first collection, you may not laugh as hard with this collection. Nevertheless, there were more than enough "autocorrects" to keep a smile on your face. I admit though, I couldn't help but think "autocorrect" was blamed for genuine, but really dumb, errors.
Is this literature? No. And it doesn't try to be. It's entertainment. It's just another installment of real messages that @damnyouautocorrect collected.
