A goose escapes from her family and seeks out a mate then changes her mind and tries to back out of the Crossroads. He has other ideas.
Tyla is a golden goose, creature of myth and legend. She gets a card in the mail and calls a transporter to get her out of her gilded cage and to the Crossroads.
Tyla has no experience with men, strangers, bright lights or loud noises. She is completely overwhelmed, and once she meets a man who is willing to make her dream of a mate come true, she comes down with a case of cold feet.
Arkenon enjoys traveling the world as one of the premier shifter tattoo artists. When he meets Tyla over a casual dinner, he is smitten with her shy looks but straightforward attitude. He enrols at the Crossroads and pursues the woman he wants as a mate. He just has to work on defining his motives.
Zenina Masters was born in Canada and lives in Canada. She has a regular job and does nothing particularly exciting with her life. She enjoys fishing, silence and the ability to pick and choose friends she can trust. Life is too short to watch your back all the time.
Her writing life is a teeny bit of escapism, she would probably chicken out if confronted by three naked men and looks forward to one day finding out.
Tyla is the golden goose of legends, but she doesn't go around laying golden eggs. Instead she has an ability to make obscene amounts of money. Her family keeps her under lock and key and spends the money as fast as she can make it. Tyla is determined not to live a life of misery like the other golden geese before her so she makes her escape to the Crossroads hoping to find love and happiness. Arkenon is a top-tier tattoo artist in the shifting world with no interest in finding a mate until he meets Tyla. Some of the people who live at the Crossroads decide that Tyla needs to experience a real Christmas and help keep her away from her family who is desperately trying to have her returned to a life of captivity. So off she goes to spend Christmas with Ark and his wonderful family. There she finds everything she ever wanted but Tyla and Ark will still have to contend with her family and find a way to protect Tyla's toddler niece, Tora. Another great Crossroads story!
The Shifting Crossroads series is so addictive. For romantics, this is the series which will give nice warm fuzzies. This is because all the stories carry the same themes of love, family and loyalty.
In CHRISTMAS GOOSE, Tyla is the one who needs to learn about healthy family dynamics and love. Her family depends upon her, but they are neither loyal or loving. Instead, they rob her of a life and keep her under a punishing house arrest. Why?
Because she is the goose who lays the golden egg. Does she really lay an egg? No. She's more like the King Midas of the finance world. Her ability is pretty nifty and it is easy to see why her spoiled rotten family would fight to keep her. Too bad they treated her so poorly.
This Christmas theme story is heartwarming as Tyla learns to live a little. She meets her mate, Arkenon, at Crossroads and proceeds to see how other people interact and live. So many little things people take for granted, she experiences for the first time. She is a bit of the princess in a tower yet she doesn't want to be the damsel in distress saved by a knight. She wants to be free. Can Arkenon overcome his white knight complex and allow Tyla to spread her wings?
It looked a bit rough at first. Arkenon is jaded and thinks all women want when they go to Crossroads is to find a man to save them. Tyla is definitely a shock to him and wakes him up.
Ms. Masters does a lovely job of showing how good family dynamics can be. She excels at painting a romantic sweet picture for readers to moon over and enjoy. She is a romantic at heart which comes through clearly through these stories. The conflicts are realistic and the people are human, despite their shifter powers. All the characters possess flaws and that is what makes them endearing.
This paranormal romance is recommended for those who enjoy "love conquers all" theme.
This story takes a little turn as most of the action does not happen at The Crossroads. I loved the change and the way the characters took more time to get to know each other.
Tyla is so sweet! I loved her wonder at everything and the way she jumps into life. She had plenty of spunk as well. Ark is a perfect match for her, he starts off on the wrong foot but quickly gets on the right page. I love the dynamic between the two.
Only one smexy scene but well worth it. I loved all the sweetness of the moment. There is a but of sensual to keep things sexy as well.
This story was great, gain it could have been longer. I always want more of these books be cause they are a joy to dig into. I loved getting more info on Teebe and visiting with Chuck and Ivy again.
Can not wait for the next book in this awesome series!
Tyla is a golden goose, and has never been allowed to live a normal life. Her family is afraid of losing the one who makes their lives so comfortable with her ability to make money.
I really liked Tyla, it was fun seeing the world through the eyes of someone who had never really experienced it before. Arkenon is the perfect mate for her because he enjoys her introducing her to new things and gives her the gift of what family should be like.
I really enjoyed this Christmas story, it was heartwarming, sweet with a healthy dose of sexy thrown in. I really felt like I was experiencing Christmas right along with their family. I highly recommend this for some light hearted and heartwarming reading.
2.5 stars. I really had a hard time with this book. I really wanted to like this book because we had met Ark in a poison pen with Chuck and Ivy. While I liked Tayla, and loved her with her niece - this was the first crossroads relationship that fell flat for me. I just didn't feel the connection between Ark & Tayla, and I think this was partially because of Tayla's back story/story. It just seemed to overwhelm everything. In her defense, I can't see how it couldn't because of what happened - maybe it would of been suited to a longer book. (Even though I know these are all shorter stories and I'm ok with that.)
I am looking forward to more books in this series even with this one not being one of my favorites.
I've always felt bad for the Golden Goose, her family needs the crap smacked out of them. It's nice that she was able to find a mate who loved her for her and was willing to take in and love her niece too. The present for her new family was impressive. It was nice to see the people in Crossroads and peek into their lives again, nice continuity. I can't wait for more pairings, I'm hoping to one day see Teebie's story.
This is one of my go-to books when I am having a REALLY bad day and need a reminder of the good in people. Nice quick read whether in doctor's office or at home chasing children.
