I wited till I finished this series before doing a review, this series was the best I ever read. Yes there was some very awesome steamy sex, but this was beyond that. I have never laughed, cried, and awwwwed so much!! This is the ULTIMATE love story!!! I recommend it to anyone who ever wished for ultimate and unconditional love...Thank you from the bottom of my heart Ms. Burkhart!!!
I'm sure I'm biased about this one, but it's a fantastic read. Shannari is a beautiful, strong character, and the book has such a fantastic world built up already. Oh, and there's lots of yummy boys. ;) Some hard-hitting, too, though. This is love with a lot of sacrifices, so reader beware.
I liked the book, in fact I liked the whole series.. But WTH?! How could she kill my favorite hero/warrior? After she had already killed the first hero who I also loved! For that I just couldn't go higher than 3 stars sorry
The journey continues. It does have a bittersweet happy ending. Loads of loss throughout this trilogy that will force you to need tissues. Gut wrenching. Soul defying. Intense love and passion. Even the focal point is love and sacrifice, its dramatically different when told in a story. I really liked the Keldari legend snippet. It was a nice touch. Beautiful conclusion although I am curious about the children and the fallout after losing their mother, whatever may happen to them. I can see this branching out. Definite worth reading.
This is a wonderful conclusion that wraps up the saga, while introducing a truly worthy antagonist. Yeah, you have sex. Yeah, you have blood. A lot of the themes of sex with blood and with the First Blood are filled more in the author's Vampire Queen series.
My main regret in this is that we do not get to be introduced to a number of her warriors -- they are there and are part of her bonds of love, but we don't meet them. Which is a shame.
I cry, I laugh, I get angry, I throw things.... It was only once and not in this book lol. Overall this series has kept me awake for hours while i inhale it when every one in the house is asleep lol. I just can't seem to quit. I have to go to bed now though since it's 6am and I have to be up by 10 ugh.
I got lost in the Keldari language, descriptions and in general the small hints of the savage desert culture. I didn't quite understand why Varne had to be like this. I don't understand the point of that side plot. I'm satisfied about the ending. I have missed Rheakhar and Gregar, even if they weren't really gone.l
Synopsis:"In this final book of the Shanhasson trilogy, Shannari dal’Dainari has won the Rose Crown. She has her beloved Khul at her side. Yet shadows crowd closer than ever. Political machinations and assassination attempts have crippled her ability to protect the land and the people. When her children are endangered, she has no choice but to send them to safety.
Away from her.
Surrounded by grief, danger, and turmoil on all sides, the last thing she needs is another enemy threatening to destroy all she holds dear. Yet a Black Dragon stirs in the deserts of Keldar. He haunts her dreams, while a Keldari army amasses on her border. When he soars over the Shining Walls of Shanhasson, will she put a knife in his heart…or will Shadow devour her at last with dragon jaws?"
My Review: Well that was quite the conclusion to this trilogy! Similar to the second book it got a little drawn out, there are just a lot of elements to this series and more and more just keep getting brought in. I believe there was a branch off series that would have helped understand the Keldar portions better. I do love that the author isn't afraid of death or what may happen to our favorite characters. There are definitely highly emotional sections of this book that will bring you to tears, not a book for people looking for a happy little romance where everyone gets what they want in the end. I also like that this book closed up the series beautifully and didn't leave me wanting to know more, not to mention turned me into a blubbering mess.
The first two books were some of the best books I've read.... Then book 3 and the whole Mykal story line just didn't fit. It's like he showed up in town, literally, and the story took a hard left and I never got back on track and almost turned into a DNF... I hoped it would turn back around but never did and just took the story down but I finished... Even in the end the story didn't redeem itself.
Never had a book that made me laugh and had me sobbing so much I had to walk away only the pick back up and cry more... The first half of the book was a solid 5 star book... But it turned into such a disappointment. It isn't a bad book just it lost me... So killed my enjoyment.
