Probablemente sea más bien un 4.5. Es muy complicado puntuar un libro sin una sola palabra y sólo con preciosas imágenes en 3D. Será difícil escribir una reseña en el blog sobre este agasajo visual, pero pronto estará lista :)

This is beautiful and magic!!! This book is everything!!! I saw it once, many years ago in one of my favorite exhibitions at Amadora BD, even though I wanted it, I didn't buy it because I was a teenager at the time, and you know didn't make sense to buy a kids' book, but since then I couldn't keep this book out of my brain, I finally bought it and it was so worth it!!!
This is such a beautiful use of black and white and the absence of color, and the use of perspective - this is 3D done very well - it helps created the depths of the Ocean more clearly!!! And the story is simple but it feels magic to go into this trip with this kid!!!
Honestly, it's definitely a recommendation if you have children, or you appreciate illustration doing something different!!!

My boys said this is the COOLEST book ever. An amazing 3D wordless picture book taking you on an underwater adventure. Just love how everything pops out in reach to grab and touch. Great addition to any interactive bookshelf.

A visual adventure in the depths, the 3D glasses (while a bit headache inducing) give the already stunning illustrations life. A truly exciting wordless picturebook.

For a four-year-old, this book gets 5 stars because of the 3D glasses! It’s an unusual book and offers another way to explore books. For an adult, I was missing the text, so I wouldn’t rate it quite as highly.

In black and white images, a boy walks out his house. With a klang, he emerges and takes steps with a loud bong since he’s wearing a diving suit. Turn the page, put on your 3D glasses, and once the boy enters the water the magic starts to happen. Jim is now exploring. He passes a sunken car and a long pipeline, but soon reaches the open ocean. As the pages turn, the 3D effects are gasp-worthy and so well done. Readers and Jim together are on an amazing journey at sea.
A nearly wordless book, this is true immersion. I’m not usually a fan of books with gimmicks but the 3D is put to such incredible use on the page here that I found myself immediately drawn in. It is so effective that you will find yourself reaching out to touch parts of the image that seem closest and then feel shocked when you touch a flat page. It happened to me time and again.
While this may not be ideal to circulate at libraries since the glasses will quickly be lost, this is a great gift book that is definitely worth exploring. Appropriate for ages 4-10.

This may be my first graphic novel in 3D, which we are already tired of (are we not?) in movies, like it is there most of the time for its own sake, but what more can we do with it that it is interesting?), so I didn't have high hopes, but then had those low expectations dashed, yay. A story of exploration under the sea, and the deeper you go, the more interesting and mysterious it gets, and the 3D actually helps deepen the experience. My three 7-9 year olds loved it, and okay, in part because it comes with two sets of 3D glasses which of course means you can do the adventure with someone else…. and you don't need words to have a great story, of course… I found this in the children's graphic novels and comics section of my library, but it is really all ages, one of those books that transcends those categories, as most good books do. I really liked it and in one days have read it with one or the other kid several times. Especially if you have a kid, check it out, maybe, but I just think anyone would like it.

It's probably sort of cheating to count this wordless book as one of the books towards my reading goal...but since I book-talked it at schools before Summer Reading, I decided I've spent enough time with it to count it.
This book is amazing. Sometimes, things in 3D are kinda gimmicky. I'm not really a fan of 3D movies, and I don't tend to get super excited about anything just because it is jumping out at my face. But this book is GORGEOUS. It's rare that art in 3D looks BETTER than it does in 2D, but since this book is about being underwater, there's something about the 3D rendering that makes you just feel like you're floating underwater with the main character.
There's so much depth and intricacy in the art, and the fold out page at the end is just mind-blowingly gorgeous.

Very cool book. Underwater scenes are perfect for 3D pictures. Loved the story the artwork AND the 3D effects. Picard is rather brave to publish this - if you lose the 3D glasses, you're sunk - the book is blurry and hard to follow. I hope there's to be more of these though, they're a lot of fun.

Este libro es una maravillosa opción para disfrutar otro tipo de lectura. Cada imagen tiene tantos detalles que es imposible no entretenerse varios minutos en cada una. Y lo genial es que el libro no se reduce solamente a eso, sino que logra transmitir la curiosidad de Jim logrando que el lector se sienta parte de la aventura. ¡Muy recomendable!

Spektakulärer Tauchgang! Ein außergewöhnliches Lesevergnügen für Jung und Alt!
Inhalt:
Für Jim Curious in seinem altertümlichen Taucheranzug geht es hinab in die Tiefen des Ozeans;
vorbei an Fischen, Quallen und eher unliebsamen Meeresbewohnern bis zum unheimlichen Wrack einer spanischen Galeone auf dem Meeresgrund.
Jim Curious entdeckt die sagenumwobene, versunkene Stadt Atlantis und kommt aus dem Staunen gar nicht mehr heraus ...
Dem Buch liegen zwei 3D-Brillen bei für eine gemeinsame Lektüre.
Altersempfehlung:
ab 5 Jahre
Mein Eindruck zur Drucktechnik:
Die Umsetzung ist hervorragend gelungen dank großem Buchformat, sauberer Drucktechnik und qualitativ hochwertigem Papier.
Das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis ist mehr als unschlagbar.
Die Bilder sind ausschließlich in schwarz-weiß gehalten.
Um den gewünschten dreidimensionalen Effekt zu erreichen, werden zudem einige Passagen durch Teilbilder in Blau und Rot überlagert.
Sobald man durch eine der beiden dem Buch beiliegenden Pappbrillen (ein "Glas" mit blauer Folie, das andere mit roter) schaut und so jeweils nur die Eigenfarbe durchgelassen und die Komplementärfarbe gefiltert wird, entsteht im Kopf ein zusammengesetztes Bild mit Tiefen, die real auf dem Papier nicht existieren.
Wenn man die Empfehlung, grelle und direkte Beleuchtung bei der Lektüre zu meiden, befolgt, darf man sich auf beeindruckende, dreidimensionale Bilder freuen.
Mein Eindruck zur Geschichte:
Statt Taucherhelm und Atemgerät benötigen Lesende nichts weiter als die beiliegenden 3D- Brillen, um in eine faszinierende Unterwasserwelt abzutauchen.
Die Idee dahinter ist genial!
Sobald Jim Curious unter Wasser ist, werden die Illustrationen in einigen Bereichen durch entsprechende Teilbilder in Blau und Rot überlagert, um den gewünschten dreidimensionalen Effekt zu erzeugen.
In seinem altertümlich und plump anmutenden Taucheranzug stakst Jim eher unbeholfen zur Leiter. Im Meer angekommen, blickt man das erste Mal in sein Gesicht und in die fröhlichen Augen. Die vierte Wand wird so durchbrochen und sogleich eine Verbindung zu den Lesenden aufgebaut. Auch bekommen Jims Bewegungen nun etwas Leichtes, Fließendes ... trotz schwerer Ausrüstung.
Neugierig, unerschrocken und mit einem Lächeln auf den Lippen lässt sich Jim auf das Abenteuer ein.
Abgesehen vom beeindruckenden 3D-Effekt ist diese faszinierende Mischung aus Bilderbuch und Comic ein außergewöhnliches Leseerlebnis.
Es kommt zudem vollkommen ohne Worte und erläuternde Texte aus. Jedes Panel spricht für sich.
Je tiefer Jim hinab taucht desto düsterer - aber nicht minder detailverliebt - werden die Zeichnungen. Die Szenerie wechselt von fröhlichen Fischschwärmen bis hin zum gefährlichen Hai, der unvermittelt hinter Jim auftaucht.
Jim Curious entdeckt die sagenumwobene, versunkene Stadt Atlantis und besonders hierbei ist das Spiel mit verschiedenen Perspektiven hervorragend gelungen.
Mit ausklappbaren Seiten endet der beeindruckende Tauchgang und die Ähnlichkeiten der Panels zum Beginn und zum Ende bilden einen gelungenen Rahmen.
Fazit:
Jim Curious' Abenteuer ist eine spektakuläre und bildgewaltige Mischung aus 3D-Comic und Bilderbuch.

It's 52 pages of fun undersea exploration in 3D. Plus you get to wear cardboard glasses. What's not to love?
I grabbed this book randomly without even opening it, thinking it was more akin to The Joyners in 3D, but it's very much just a straightforward (and very fun) collection of 3D images as a diver goes on an explanation. This is the kind of book I would've spent hours with late at night as a child. And now, as an adult, I'll probably pull it off the shelf for a good time every now and then anyway.

Nurkowanie z Jasiem Ciekawskim jest cudowne, bo życie w głębinach ciekawi go już od pierwszego centymetra pod wodą. Zaczyna więc poznawanie fauny i flory od spotkania z meduzą, na rekinie i ławicach ryb czy koralowcach kończąc. Ale głębiny maja więcej do zaoferowania ciekawskim: są wraki statków ze skarbami w zatopionych kajutach, są zatopione całe miasta, które można zwiedzać. Wreszcie są też drzwi, które prowadzą do dość dziwnego miejsca. Czy to wszystko było snem czy jawą?

This book is super rad! It has 3D glasses, so as you follow the main character on his voyage under the sea, you get to experience so much more than a normal book. It is also wordless so you can really just enjoy the incredible view. Highly recommend!

I am extremely picky with my art style (not saying I have a good taste…), but this was simply beautiful and very satisfying to me. Probably best for young children, but I wouldn’t be opposed to having it on my shelf and picking it up every time I have a need for something beautiful.

Carino da guardare, non c'è nulla da leggere e trovo sia adatto sia ad adulti che bambini, ho trovato un po' scomodi gli occhialini portando occhiali da vista.
