A missing body. A ruined wedding anniversary. Three women sleuths.
It's winter in Lower Wootton and the neighbourhood foxes are disturbing Ellie Blix's sleep. So, when she's woken at sunrise by the excited shrieks of three people in a hot air balloon, she shoves in her ear plugs.
But she's woken again, this time by her daughter. When Zoe says the couple in the balloon were having a row, Ellie realises something is wrong. What happened to the third person?
In the morning, a local chef is missing and his wife is asking if anyone has seen him. She tells Ellie he hasn't returned from celebrating his brother’s wedding anniversary... in a hot air balloon.
When police inquiries fail to find the missing man, Blix Investigators must find out: did he go on the balloon trip or not? And is he dead or alive?
The trouble is – someone will do anything to stop them from getting to the truth.
Four book murder mystery series Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 19 November 2023 Following on from the previous three books the family saga continues mixed in with murder. Excellent series which needs to be read in order. An intriguing plot with a hot air balloon - who would’ve thought it - mixed up with family life on both the investigator’s side and the family of the victim(s).
This was definitely the best book so far in the series. But the ending worried me slightly. I think she could make a big mistake at this point. Her hubby is very penitent about his actions. I would also find it difficult to forgive such an indiscretion. But he seems to be so very much in love with her, that perhaps she should give him the chance. I will be very sorry if she doesn't and goes ahead and divorces him.
Well, looks like we have to wait until March to find out.
Murder in the Hot Air Balloon (The Wootton Windmill Mysteries Book 2) izzie Harper
These books are keeping me reading, I am enjoying the mixed signals with the Murders but nothing gets past Ellie. The whole family are now slouths, making these stories up must take a very strong mind. Keep on writing Izzie Harper. 💕
I liked how the author started this book. Ellie was brilliant as always but Zoe is very tech savvy. Sylvia isn't a slouch either. The murder was unbelievable!
I look forward to each upcoming book in this series. Quite frankly I didn’t even try to decide who was guilty; just enjoyed reading and waiting to see what the outcome would be.
Once again the gang solve the murder while the police struggled. It’s not totally a happy ending for one of their friends and relationships are still up in the air!
