B.G. Thomas lives in Kansas City with his husband for nearly fifteen years and was legally married in 2014. Ehey have a fabulous little dog, Sarah Jane. He sees his wonderful daughter just often enough to miss her when she isn't there! He has a romantic soul and is extraordinarily lucky to have many friends.

He loves science fiction & fantasy, horror, romance and more, has gone to SF&F conventions his entire adult life, and been lucky enough to meet many of his favorite writers. He is a “Star Trek” and Joss Whedon fan from way back!

He has written all his life, it is where he finds his joy. In the 90’s, he wrote for gay magazines, but stopped because they wanted him to cut out story and romance, and write only sex.

Then through a few friends, he discovered the growing market of M/M Romance and was thrilled beyond words. FINALLY, a way to write the stories he always wanted to write. Adventure, romantic comedy, science fiction, and more, but with gay characters. And he wouldn't have to fade to black! People wanted to read the erotic as well. Plot and sex! HURRAY!

B.G. Thomas very much believes in The Law of Attraction and that "thoughts become things." A lot of things all started happening at once. He heard the words, "Leap, and the net will appear," and something re-kindled inside. He sent out a story and was thrilled when it was almost immediately accepted.

He believes that we are divine expressions of the Universe, each and everyone. "It is never too late!,” he states. “Pursue your dreams! They will come true!"

You know when you read a story and you just want to shake one of the MCs because he's just being so stubborn? This is one of those and Curtis, I'm looking at you! O_o

This is a sweet holiday story about two best friends and roommates, Curtis and Gavin, who need a nudge in the right direction. That the nudge comes from Bianca, Gavin's ten year old daughter, is the really sweet part. She's an old soul who is really adorable in her plotting.

I like this little world that Thomas has created in Kansas City. I hope we see Superman (Gabe) get his HEA as well.

Gavin is gay, he lives in a very gay friendly building ( Oscar Wilde apartments! love it! ) and he is looking for love in all the wrong places, great, now i have that song stuck in my head...anyway, losers and such and now he is in love with his best friend Curtis. His straight friend Curtis, did I mention Gavin isn't having any luck in the love department?
Oh, and Gavin is raising his daughter Bianca ( mother *conveniently* died when Bianca was a baby).
Curtis lives in the same building as Gavin, but he is NOT gay, he is so not gay he has entire conversations with himself in his head telling himself that he is not gay. he wants children, so he can't be gay, I have to say, I got a little tired of Curtis and all his inner musings..
I mean Bianca, the very mature and by far smartest 10 year old ever had it right when she said she was smarter than Gavin and Curtis put together.
It is a sweet story, with a friends to lovers theme and a GFY thrown in.

Cute short story about 10 year old Bianca's plan to find her dad Gavin a boyfriend for Christmas. Bianca wants the help of his best friend Too bad Curtis is straight because they all love and care for him. This is a tale of finding love in the most unexpected ways and when you least expect it.
**Just a sweet story. Blanca is one smart cookie!

Another sweet romance from Dreamspinners Evergreen Advent calender. Seasonal tales that are set around Xmas but not drenched in seasonal sentimentality. From the get go there's no doubt how this is all going to pan out so don't expect any surprises but that doesn't stop it from being an enjoyable and in this case, charming read about a little girl who just wants her daddy to have a boyfriend for her Xmas present , and she knows exactly who she wants that to be - her dads best, but straight, friend ! Alll these short novellas have been the sort that leave you feeling warm, fuzzy and contented. Just right for curling up in front of a warm fire, with a bowl of nibbles, a glass of something sparkling and your new Xmas Jammies. Sort of predictable....but nice predictable!

Edit. Re read on 2/12/13 ... previously read Dec 2012
Having a Xmas book marathon and remembered I'd enjoyed this last year so popped it in again. Still enjoyable but on reflection I would probably rate it a 3.5* ... rounded up for enjoyment.

This story made me laugh, grin at Bianca's cleverness, and sigh in happiness at the end. What more could you want from a Christmas story? As far as I am concerned, any story, really, but the fact that this one is set around Christmas makes it even more special. I liked all three characters (yes, even stubborn, blinders-wearing Curtis), and the love they shared was wonderful to witness. The fact that their antics, some of them disturbingly realistic, made me laugh on top of that was a bonus.

Gavin is a great guy, and the fact that he's raising his daughter Bianca on his own, after her mother died when she was very young, may have changed his life, but he welcomes it. He has a crappy job and works long hours so he can give her everything she deserves, and is as devoted as any father could be. There is only one problem, or so Bianca thinks now that she's ten: he doesn't have a boyfriend. Gavin has his own thoughts about that, but Bianca is determined to see him happy.

Curtis has become Gavin's best friend ever since he moved into the apartment across the hallway from where Gavin and Bianca live. He loves Bianca, and Gavin, but he doesn't want to admit the latter. He thinks he is straight. In fact, he spends most of the story trying to convince himself he wants a woman, because he is desperate to have a family. He is such an idiot, refusing to acknowledge what is right in front of his nose. But once he does? The sparks definitely fly!

If you like Christmas stories with lots of heart, if you enjoy tales that make you laugh and sigh, and if you're looking for a story with characters so real they seem to want to jump off the pages, you will probably like this novella as much as I did.

This story was like Christmas hot chocolate with marshmallows. It’s gooey, a little bit too sugary sometimes but leaves you feeling warm and happy. Gavin and Curtis are the best of friends. Gavin is in love with the straight Curtis, but they both put this aside in order to maintain their friendship. Curtis is not gay, he wants children. So the het sex isn’t all that great? It’s just him. He wants children.

There was a confusing moment when a flashback occurs showing how they met. It was so abruptly thrown in that I had to reread the beginning twice before I realized, oh, flashback! Other than that, I liked the writing very much. There were times I wanted to shake Curtis and say, “get over yourself already!” because even as he realizes that he is standing in the way of Gavin finding happiness with someone else, he is still seriously in denial yet keeping himself in Gavin’s way.

Then there is Bianca, a lovely girl who decides her daddy needs a boyfriend and starts the plan in motion. She and Curtis try to set Gavin up with funny and frustrating results (Preston the snob, especially!) While you may want to scream at Curtis, ultimately it is endearing and charming and everything Gavin deserves, which is a brilliant daughter and a loving boyfriend, without yucky or buttholes or dingleberries.

Cute & quick friends to lovers/GFY novella featuring a single dad. 10yo Bianca thinks her dad, Gavin, needs a boyfriend. She wants him to be with their neighbor and Gavin’s BFF - except Curtis is straight. So Bianca enlists his help in finding her dad someone to love.

A few disastrous dates and Gavin is frustrated while Curtis realizes he wants so much more. Gavin’s been in love with Curtis forever making it easy for them to get to their HEA. Sweet ending, especially for Bianca.

Precocious ten-year-old Bianca playing matchmaker for the two clueless guys was super-cute, Gavin stumbling from date to disastrous date was amusing to watch, and I rooted for poor thickheaded Curtis to finally have his epiphany. This author's down-to-earth, heartfelt voice was just the thing to keep this story from falling into the saccharine category.
A proper Christmas "fairy" tale!

Nice story, but I couldn't care much for Curtis' I-love-him-I-love-him-not inner dialogues. The only thing he hasn't done yet is counting the flower petal thingy and he'd be perfect as Bianca's playmate. Oh, wait...

3.5 stars.

Really cute, fluffy romance about two best friends, one of who is gay but doesn't know it, and the other one's daughter who has a plan to get the two men together. A sweet, engaging read.

This book was gifted to me by its author. Thanks, Ben. :)

Bianca, Gavin’s 10 year old daughter is trying to get her dad a boyfriend for Christmas. She enlists the help of their mutual, straight neighbor/friend, Curtis to set Gavin up on some blind dates, since Gavin has been alone for the last two years.

Co-incidentally, two years ago is when Curtis moved in, and it’s no secret Gavin is harboring a huge crush on the straight guy. Curtis feels guilty about this crush so he elects to help Bianca, even though each set up leaves him angry and vaguely unsettled.

Finally, Gavin meets someone on his own, and Curtis realizes that he has actually been deluding himself all this time, and he makes his move in a jealous fit.

When the boys tell Bianca that they are finally together, Bianca admits that had been her plan all along!

**
This was a fast story with quick humorous “dates” punctuated by Curtis’s guilty conscience acting as a monologue in the background. Bianca is no ten year old I’ve ever met – but as a catalyst, her interest in seeing Daddy with a boyfriend works. (I don’t know why the author didn’t just make her older, it would still have worked just as effectively, without bringing you out of the story, thinking “a ten year old said that?!)

The last 20% was the couple exploring Curtis’s new explorations into gay sex and it was appropriately steamy.

All in all I enjoyed the story and thought it was pretty funny and sweet.

3.5/5 hearts

Audio:
Paul Morey does another nice job. I love his deep bass voice that he gives to Gavin and he did some funny characterizations of some of the bozos Gavin ends up dating. This is another case where listening might be a bit more entertaining than reading, because the voices add some color to what might be a more vanilla story.

A nice seasonal romance, Christmas + kid is a sure recipe for success. Bianca "Bee" is the only daughter of a single gay dad; the story is old, Gavin and his best girl friend from high school got together only one time at prom night and Bee was the result of that. It is possible their story was fated to end, maybe like friends, but unfortunately Bee's mother passed away in a car accident, and now Gavin has decided to move to the big city and moreover to a gay friendly condo. There he meets Curtis, one of the few straight neighbors and so, even if Gavin has a big crush on Curtis, they become "only" best friends... but Bee has other plan for this coming Christmas.

While I liked Gavin, a sweet man, very right in the role of dad, actually, it was easy to image him as an househusband, devoted to the home and his daughter while his partner cared for the money side of the relationship, at time I wanted to knock Curtis down. First of all, if you are not gay, why did you let Gavin fall for you, well knowing he has a crush? It was selfish, he wanted the family Gavin and Bee represented, without giving to Gavin the partner he deserved.

Anyway, that was mostly me, Curtis wasn't at all a bad man, actually he was very good with Bee, and also a good friend for Gavin. The story had, of course, a light tone and an obvious happily ever after waiting for the two men. I also enjoyed that, while Bee has a main role in the plot, she wasn't stealing the center stage to the love story between the two men.

Bianca’s Plan is a light, fun MM romance of best friends who become lovers due to one lead’s precocious matchmaking daughter. Bianca worries her dad, Gavin, is lonely and enlists the help of his seemingly straight best friend, Curtis, to set Gavin up with potential boyfriends. I loved the relationship between Bianca and her dad and Curtis. These three are already a family and the holiday season shows them this. Yes, Bianca is the classic adorable plot moppet but I loved her spunk and sassy mouth. Curtis and Gavin are both good characters and their romance is surprisingly intimate given this is a short novella. I absolutely adore the scene when Curtis realizes he wants more than friendship from Gavin because it’s sexy and emotional. The men’s relationship is emotionally resolved so the one sex scene was the perfect whip cream on the emotional hot chocolate. This is a great MM holiday story combining the best of family and love.

I give this 2.5 stars. For all of its absurdity, I did find it entertaining, so it gets an extra half star for that.

This book. *shakes head*

Between the ridiculous lines (see my status updates for some examples), the hilariously (not to mention predictably and stereotypically) bad dates, Curtis's "Inner Voice," and the exclamations! Once they! Finally! Got naked!... There was a lot to criticize. So I won't bother.

The plot itself was sweet, though, even if I did find ALL of the characters irritating most of the time.

Poor Gavin - I would be mortified if I had been subjected to all the crap he's put through in this book (but even he's not exempt from the irritating - he ).

I can't really say I recommend this one, unless you are a person who revels in a campy read for review fodder purposes.

I like B.G. Thomas writing. It's sweet and funny, and usually a bit over the top. In Bianca's Plan he delivers another short, solid, great story. Nearly perfect. The only glitch was the final sex scene - the description of this 'earth-shattering' experience was just overdone.

This was a 5-star read until we got to the sex. I loved the MC:s and Curtis' internal dialogue was funny. Unfortunately, the author ruined it by making them have their first anal sex without lube but still writing that Gavin was wet inside. Okay, how the HELL is that possible? Did he have diarrhea? I laughed out loud then and the whole "first time experiencing gay sex" for Curtis, which should have been a wonderful pivotal moment of the story turned into a complete bust. There was also WAY to much purple prose in the sex scene.

Before you say anything about my rating of the book: I believe it´s a good book. Though not exactly something I could fully enjoy. ´Cus:
1. It was too sweet for me (well...hey)
2. It didn´t quite pull me in.
And
3. The end was just so much of a sweet bomb I was wondering how come there was no sugar melting into caramel around me.
Just as I said. It´s a good book (for someone who´s into sweet romances). Readable also (otherwise I would left it right after reading few pages). Just not a style I quite dig...

Bianca wants her father, Gavin, to find a boyfriend so she hatches a sneaky plan. With the help of her father's best friend, Curtis, she tries to find the perfect man for her dad. Each time Gavin meets a new man they turn out to be weird or self-centred or just plain idiots. Meanwhile, Curtis is beginning to think he knows who the perfect man for Gavin might be. I really liked the extra sneaky reveal of Bianca's plan right at the end of the story.

So, first off this was really sweet and cute. Easy to read and nice with the holidays and family. However, *wince* I really disliked that little girl. I found the other dates to be almost comical and not in a good way, and describing oral sex as taking communion was just no. However, I thought it was a fine read, and I liked the two MCs.

Cute premise and mildly entertaining.

Then I got to the sex scene and my personal pet peeve...anal sex with no lube of any sort, no prep, and the person hasn't had sex in a while AND it doesn't hurt! Hmm, yeah...no.

In the world of The Boy who Came in from the Cold, this is a small short story/novelette in the same Kansas City gay world that B. G. Thomas writes in. His stories are charming and often sweet. This is one that was predictable (but I guess like any romace tropes - they all are!)
It is the story of the two best friends, who where introduced at a party in one of the other books, one straight, one gay and how the straight man finally realized he was in love with his best friend.

Sweet and kind and just nice, pre-Christmas story.
