Crazy by Eve Langlais

Paranormal romance. 1st in a series or standalone.

Ella was institutionalized at a young age. She hears voices. Turns out it’s a power of the souls she harnesses. Don’t let anyone else touch or feed her favorite vampire, Zane. He saved her from the asylum and touching him quiets the voices in her head. Her virginity isn’t going to be a barrier for long.

Fun, sexy and entertaining. This short novel is amusing and the romance is satisfying.
Warning: there are a few killings of bad guys. Vampire! It’s not graphic and occurs to only those that deserve a bad ending. In such a world.

Crazy is the first book in a new series by Eve Langlais. It is more of a novella and could certainly have been longer.

The situation was interesting and different from your normal paranormal romance. Ella has been in a mental institution since she was 7 years old. She is now 25. She hears voices and they tell her things. One night she sees a vampire and the voices stop. Zane, the vampire, tends to get blood from people in mental institutions or nursing homes. After encountering Ella, he rescues her and takes her home with him.

I won't go into a lot of other details in order to avoid spoilers. However, there are some hilarious moments and there is an antagonist that comes into play. For such a short book, there was a large number of steamy scenes. Unfortunately the suspense part of the book took second stage and did not have any twists and turns.

The book was an interesting concept, but it did not hit the mark for me. Despite this, those that like paranormal romances with some humor and lots of steamy scenes may love this one. I wanted more suspense.

Read as part of the Tall, Dark & Alpha Boxed Set boxed set.

5 stars.

This was a really interesting and original story in the vampire genre! I loved the entire story and how Ella and Zane meet. Ella's back story and how she came to be where she was was very interesting and unique! Together they were great and it was a really interesting story! I would love to read more from Zane and Ella and hope there is more to come! A very refreshing, original, engaging story.

I loved Crazy. It’s a unique, sexy and fast pace vampire story. The only problem was Eve, why couldn’t this have been a novel? I am blown away now, if this would have been a novel I think I would have lost my socks LOL. I love both the hero and heroine and how they worked together. You’ll find danger, adventure, a hot sexy vampire (that wears a cape I might add) and one crazy woman that might not be so crazy after all. You’ll have to read to find out how this one lucky woman finds love and ends up with a HEA after living in a mental ward for so long.

Warning you may find some violence when Zane goes to take Ella’s maidenhood. LOL this was such a good idea! I was laughing and intrigued the whole time on how these two were going to figure this one out.

If you are a paranormal romance novella reader I strongly recommend this book!!

Finally a book I can read with ease and without the annoying OW presence. This is a short sweet story that can be devoured in mere two hours. It has mystery, romance, action, humor and my favourite double POV. A great read!

This is the best $4.50 novella I have ever read. I am so going to keep this one on my Kindle homepage so I can re-read it. I do not usually re-read books so that's saying quite a bit. It was funny, charming, and fast paced but not rushed.

Ella has been in a mental institution since she was seven and now in her early twenties. It just so happens that Zane, a local vamp, likes to snack on the patients. They meet during one of his trips to the buffet. She sees him through his glamor and is unphased by his attempt to tell her to go to sleep. You see, Ella hears voices and they know what Zane is and see him as a threat. She, on the other hand, sees her way out of the institution. Zane is intrigued and decides to break her out. His thoughts during the process are out-loud funny not to mention the fact that the 'voices' want her to stay a virgin. They make sure Zane does not get to introduce Ella to sex by manifesting their ability to move things -- violently. There are other vamps, evil sorcerers, and secrets all wrapped in the tiny little book.

I absolutely loved it so much that I purchased another novella by Ms. Langlais as soon as I was done. I don't believe this is a series and I don't know if she plans to make it one. The ending leaves plenty of room for a larger piece since there is mention of Ella having a destiny. I suppose it is always good to leave readers wanting more.

So, I am having a love affair lately with Eve Langlais...This is another great one by this author who is new to me! Crazy is about a young woman who is in a mental institution because she hears voices, but all is not as it seems. At least not until she meets a mysterious and handsome stranger and uncovers a world that would have most humans running for their lives, but she has never felt more at peace.

Crazy is a paranormal romance, but definitely has a different feel than her books, Lucifer's Daughter and Wickedest Witch. Where those were humorous with a strong heroine, Crazy begins with the heroine, Ella in need of rescue. With the help of her vampire hero, Zane & company, she grows into the power she has always possessed.

EXCELLENT! EXCELLENT! EXCELLENT!

Now that story Totally Wow’d Me! What a great short but very HOT! Read. I was captured immediately and couldn’t put the book down. The erotic scenes were perfect and it was refreshing to see the 69 position used because that totally rocked. I will definitely be reading more of Eve Langlais works - she now has a new fan. My minds sexual appetite wants more! Great Writing!

So this book I totally just picked up on a whim. I had no idea what it was going to be about, who the author was, or anything else about this book except that I thought the cover looked cute (different cover than the one shown on here) & that maybe it had to do a little something with romance! 😂 Lol sorry guys but this was mostly a cover read. 🤫

Anyways, this book was just ok if i’m being honest. The story is about a girl named Ella who is stuck in a asylum because she hears voices in her head & everyone including her parents think she is crazy. Almost instantly Ella meets Zane this mysterious man that appears in her asylum room at night. Despite “the voices in her head” telling her he’s bad news & also telling her that he’s a vampire, after having a conversation with him, Ella is instantly drawn to him & vise versa.🙄 Seriously there was no buildup to this moment everything was so rushed. It was such an instalove moment. Zane the hot & mysterious vampire soon returns to the asylum even though he told himself he wouldn’t and ends up helping Ella escape. He takes her to his home telling her that she can stay while they figure out how to get her out into the real world and living her life again. Zane soon smells the strong desire that Ella has for him & gets excited if you know what I mean.😉 Lol long story short you can pretty much imagine what else happens in the book between the two. I had no idea this book contained so much “sexy”scenes 😂 but seriously some of the words that the author used drove me up the wall! 🤦🏻‍♀️ For example, in certain parts when mentioning Ella’s private part she kept referring to it as her sex. “Her moist sex.” Like who even says that? LOL 😂There is a couple of plot twists that occur especially at the ending which again is unresolved and felt very rushed.

Overall, this book was a super quick read & kind of funny. I think I would of enjoyed it more if it was a little bit longer and if it wasn’t so damn rushed because I didn’t feel any connection to the characters. 🤨 I think this book could of had so much more potential. After reading this book I did a little research on the author & I saw that she is releasing a sequel to this book but from a different character in the books pov & to be honest I prob. won’t be reading it. 🤪

I know I say this EVERY time I review a book by Eve Langlais but... I freaking adore her characters. They're just so whacked out and it makes me love reading about them. I mean, Ella's had to deal with some weird stuff in her life - not the least of which is being locked up in a mental institute for years and years and years - and she's so accepting of the weirdness that it just made me clap with joy. She's fun! Zane's fun! He doesn't expect to run across someone who can resist his beguilement and when he does, he finds himself snared by her indomitable spirit.

OMG! THERE'S SO MUCH FUN HERE THAT I HAVE TO USE ALL CAPS TO LET YOU KNOW!

Seriously, if you enjoy strong characters who sometimes revel in causing a little (or a lot) of bloodshed, try an Eve Langlais book. Sassy women who rise up when the situation calls for it, strong men who will do anything to hold onto that special someone once they've found her, bad guys who get their just desserts... ALL OF THOSE CAN BE FOUND HERE!

In fact, I want another Eve Langlais book right now. Just try and stop me.

Ever since Ella was born she heard voices in her head. Her parents thought she was the demon incarnate with her ability to know secrets and at a young age was put in a mental institution. At 25 Ella still hears the voices, they don't scare her nor does the vampire who arrives to feed.

Zane doesn't befriend humans, but for some reason Ella has created a soft spot for him. Zane decides to break Ella out and give her a fresh start, with him of course until he becomes board. However, what happens when Ella becomes the most important person to him and what secrets does Ella hide that she has no idea about?

Great read, very fun and quickly paced. Like Zane,he was a bit confused about his attraction to Ella. Ella is a delight, quite go with the flow type gal. Can't wait to read the next book.

I have heard a lot of good things about Eve Langais's books, but this is the first of her books that I actually read. And after reading it, I can definitely see why I heard a lot about her books. The writing style is really well done. The tone of the story is light and humorous and it makes for a fun read. I had a lot of fun reading this book and am already looking forward to reading more by this author.

The chapters are short, which worked great for me. There are chapters from both Ella and Zane's point of view and a few from another point of view. there is a touch of danger, but it gets resolved quite easily. It's mostly a paranormal romance, told in a light and humorous way, with a bit of sex thrown in as well. The cover really fits the feel of the book.

Ella and Zane both seemed like nice characters. Zane has been a vampire for ages and now Ella comes in his life and shakes things up. Ella has been in a mental asylum for almost her whole life because she hears voices. She's a bit naive, but on the other hand also has a very interesting perspective on life. Not much fazes or scares her after what she has seen. There could've been a bit more character depth as it does stays on the surface a bit, but on the other hand I didn't really miss it either.

There is limited world building, we learn a bit about Ella's condition and what it means to be a vampire. But it's pretty minor. The focus is on Zane and Ella their romance and how they deal with Ella's voices we want to make sure she stays a virgin. There was a nice twist that was fairly original, although not too surprising. I just hadn't figured out the details yet, but I had predicted something along those lines.

To summarize: Crazy is a lot of fun to read! The tone is light and humorous and perfect for those times when you need a fun and enjoyable story. The writing style is really well done and easily sucked me in the story. The short chapter length worked great for me and I liked reading both Zane and Ella's perspective. The world building is pretty minimal and we also don't learn too much about the characters, but the book is just a lot of fun to read and those points don't really detracted form my enjoyment.

Dodie's Review

This isn't your standard boy meets girl, they fall in love book. Zane's not your normal hero, he's a vampire there to feed from the crazies. He finds himself drawn to Ella, but he keeps trying to talk himself out of seeking her out. Ella is crazy -- ok you got that from the title -- but then Zane swoops in on his white horse and rescues her from the insane asylum. From start to finish, Ella continues to surprise Zane and draw out protective instincts that he didn't realize he had. He saves her from the asylum; she saves him from the monotony in his life.

I really enjoyed reading Zane and Ella's story. The sex scenes sizzle. In a short number of pages, Eve Langlais did a great job of creating complex characters, and an unexpected story line. This was one of those books that I was truly sad when it was over. I really wanted to see where Ella and Zane's relationship goes, and what happens to the two of them after the book ends. Come on, voices in your head mean you're crazy, right? Read Crazy and find out.

Short story. 52 pages. A girl is sent to a mental hospital at the age of 7 because she hears voices. At 25 she meets a vampire who is at the mental asylum for a late night snack. It's almost love at first sight. Very good story.

I didn't think that I would like this story. Ella has been institutionalized since she was 7 years old. She is now 25.
I actually liked Ella. She's sweet, innocent, but not ignorant, and funny. Zane was a good match for Ella.
I'm glad that I got this book and plan to read the rest of the series.

4.5 stars. I really enjoyed this book. It was an interesting spin on a paranormal book. Ella is in a mental institution because she hears voices, so therefore they think she’s crazy. Her parents took her to the institution when she was 7 and just never came back....poor Ella. In walks the vampire, Zane to feed and he comes across Ella who does not adhere to his commands....he was very intrigued with her...as he should be *winks*...she is adorable.

These two have an instant connection and I love their personalities. Ella is like a ray of sunshine, that adores Zane, regardless of the fact he is a vampire. Zane is a bit more serious being a vampire and all, but he is completely taken with Ella. He saves her from a near incident, breaks her out and takes her home with him, please note that if he hadn’t saved her...her ornery voices would have, they are very protective of her. He agrees to help her find a way to stop the voices. In turn we get to find out what Ella is, her “voices” and how powerful she is. Zane loves, protects and is very possessive of her, of course so are her voices. He calls her his Moonbeam....aaawwwweee. Since she never had anyone to love and protect her, she absolutely adores him and is always so excited to see him. Seriously, these two are relationship goals.

This book, in true Eve Langlais form was a lot of fun. I loved the characters and how they interact, they just need to get a grip on his feeding situation, because that’s the only reason I didn’t give this 5 stars. But it was a safe read with an epilogue. Now, I have to look and see if there is another book about these two...fingers crossed.

Ella hears voices. Plenty of voices. Hundreds. She’s been hearing them forever and found herself locked in a lunatic asylum at the tender age of 7.The voices are not always good for her, but they do their best to protect her since she’s among the few who can hear them. She is 25 now.

Lunatic asylums are a place of choice for Zane : he’s a vampire, can feed there without being bothered or attracting attention. Until he falls upon Ella, who’s resistant to his sleeping suggestions, much to his surprise. He helps her escape because he can’t keep from thinking about her and of course wants to have sex with her.

Once Zane frees Ella, the adventure into what she is and why her talent makes her desirable leads to one wild and fast ride. The two have an undeniable attraction for each other, craving physical intimacy. Unfortunately for them, the spirits work to protect Ella from Zane's spoiling of her purity. The funniest parts came when the spirits time and time again prevented Ella and Zane from acting on their lust. They'd let the two get stirred up and then they would start pummeling them with household objects.

The humor was good and that made the story more enjoyable.

Well... I’m not overly fond of it. It started out good but after the second attempt at doing the deed failed, I lost interest in it. I still finished this book. Usually a it takes a day for me- yea, I'm a slow reader. But even so, the story felt rushed. Insta-love no matter how you looked at it. No real strong bonding between the characters (more too familiar with each other than should be). And the conflict was rushed. I love her “The Deviant Future” series but it’s always a hit or miss with me. This story was a miss. Or maybe a Meh, more like it.

It is what it is.

Although Crazy was definitely intriguing it didn’t live up to my high expectations of Langlais’ abilities.

Ella is crazy, literally. She hears voices and sometimes has violent tendencies that she can’t control. She has been in mental hospitals since she was seven years old, now she’s twenty-five. Ella is resigned to her existence; relying only on a prophecy the voices told her when she was young of a man coming to rescue her.

Ella was definitely interesting but a little too naive and flimsy for my tastes. She was constantly flinging herself into Zane’s arms whenever he entered a room. It crossed me as more childish rather passionate or loving. She provided the comic relief with her constant battle with the voices in her head which was quite an interesting storyline when she explored what the voices were capable of if provoked.

Zane was also a little off for my tastes, yeah sure vampires have a tendency to find a woman they can’t resist or realise instantly that they can’t live without but his thought process was to “take her home to seduce her”, then later on he decided he couldn’t live without her, but I couldn’t feel that.

Crazy was well written in its ideas like much of Langlais’ other work but it just didn’t work for me like I was expecting. It was good, but not great. It was funny but not overly. It was passionate but it was transparent.

They may have been professing their love for one another, but it was hard for the reader to see or feel that for themselves. It was very tell with no show.

The action in Crazy was also short lived. A total of four paragraphs with no suspense housed the action and the bad guy of the plot; almost to the point where he wasn’t even needed Crazy would have been just fine without him and his weirdness.

I love Mrs. Langlais’ work and I will continue reading it as fast as I can get my hands on it but Crazy, whilst keeping me entertained with its superb writing and fairly likeable characters just didn’t do it for me.

This one was good but it was too short to live up to its promise.

Ella has lived in an asylum since she was 7 because she hears voices and was deemed crazy. Zane comes along one night and is intrigued by her. He never cared about humans but he can't stop thinking about her.

The idea of the book is fabulous. But I thought the writing was lacking. It was all tell and no show. The magic system and world building was non-existent. Ella was just too good, too sweet, to understanding to be true. And there were things that bothered me that I'll list in my spoiler tag below.

It was a nice way to spend a few hours but I was ultimately disappointed.

CRAZY is a paranormal story about a vamp, Zane, who happens upon a girl in a psychiatric institution, Ella, whom he has no powers over. Ella hears voices in her head. Hundreds of voices. To make matters worse, the voices have been known to actually act out to protect her as they see fit. Of course, living in an institution, the protection comes with a price. Everyone assumes Ella is responsible.

The funniest parts came as the spirits time and time again prevented Ella and Zane from acting on their lust. They'd let the two get stirred up and then they would start pummeling them with household objects.

Talk about sexual frustration!

The story is an action packed short that made my treadmill time fly by. It engrossed me enough that I sat down on a chair after walking and didn't get up until I'd finished.

It is erotica, but it really wasn't the heat that drew me in. It wasn't even the two lovey-dovey protagonists that enraptured me. It was the adventure. Frankly, I would have preferred a little more doubt, angst, and turmoil to build the characters into more believable and endearing personalities. Instead, they were a little too quick to forgive, a little too Polly perfect for me.

The adventure and the secondary characters that propelled the story along on the other hand really kept my interest going. The world building was fascinating. This could be a start to a great series.

For a fast, satisfying, mysterious vampy read, CRAZY will take you away for a few hours of fun. Enjoy!
