I genuinely don't know how to describe this book. I dont know if I'm more "Baffled," or "Humbled," oh, wait I know, scared "SHYTLESS." Because no matter how right you "think" you are with God, are you ever 100% sure that you did what he "thinks" is right?
Did you meet God's standards, or were you putting yourself on such a pedestal that you assumed you were omniscient?
This book will have you hooked the moment you pick it up. However, as you can see from the beginning and ending dates, I had to put it down.
Unfortunately, I could not finish this book, not because it did not hold my attention, the writing was bad, or any of the other reasons we reviewers usually give writers a DNF.
I could not go past it because I was "terrified." Nothing more, nothing less. Never has a book with not that many pages gripped my heart in such a way.
Give this one a go and see what "YOU" think and "HOW" you feel.

Enlightening
The book was helpful in understanding Revelation. Although it was fiction it made many Bible references that I could look up. I recommend this book to anyone who wants a better understanding of Revelation.

I am a Christ follower and this book frightened me. Maybe I never thought about the end times quite as in-depth and vividly detailed. Ernest Angley puts it out there in Raptured. Raw, no sugar coating and it sucked me in. So I was glad I picked this book for a Readathon book. Read it start to finish. I would have hated to put it down.
Reading about the ones left behind was powerful. Those of us who believe will not know what moments after the rapture will look like or the tribulations people will suffer through during the end times. Angley gave me a glimpse. A heart wrenching glimpse of what my non believing friends and family will look like and live through. . .and it is horrifying.
Raptured is dated, and one can tell it was written at a time when churches were unlike ours today. Do not dismiss it because of that. If anything, embrace it even more. The message is as poignant today as seventy years ago. I highly recommend Raptured and who knows, depending on your age, you may just feel nostalgic reading about those old time church gatherings.

Written at a time around or before the re-birth of the State of Israel, very gruesome in parts. Considering the subject matter, probably right in line with pre-tribulation period rapture events. Definitely written in a 1950's frame, detectable right away. For those who don't like the 'Left Behind' series, as this is only one novel, the action ramps up quickly and somewhat predictably but is much faster and less detailed than LB series. Not the best tribulation fiction I've ever read, but not the worst.

Gripping , Compelling, Exposition of the Rapture
I read this book in the early seventies. It was just as dramatic and compelling then! Anyone who is familiar with the Biblical Event called the Rapture or would like understanding about the Rapture, after reading 'Raptured' you will be inspired and informed!

This book carries with it an anointing that draws every saint in. My experience while reading it was overwhelmingly real. It was as if I could see the glory of Christ and the horridness of the enemy. This is a must read for anyone that is borderline living. To God be the Glory!!!

This book is awesome! Once you start reading it, you will not stop reading until the end! I give it a 100+ Rating! Easy to read for children, teens & adults! I have given hundreds of this book! a book for its time
So i read this book several times as a teenager. It was one of the first books i read concerning the ‘rapture’ and the ‘great tribulation’ and what it would be like.
As i’ve gotten older and studied more, i’ve found that his views of the end times are off theologically. Several times in this book, people are crying out to ‘find God’ but God doesn’t answer until they have been in torment trying to find him.
There is a strong thread of the ‘holiness movement’ in this story where dancing is practically considered an unforgivable sin lol.
There are times where it feels within the story that Jesus has a grudge against those who were left behind to seek him. I know his view is that the Holy Spirit will be removed at the rapture…but for some reason that makes it harder for people to believe…even though they constantly talk and speak of Jesus only as someone who is saved would.
Anyway, this is still a fun book to read for something that was written in the 1950’s. I’d still suggest this book as something to learn what the ideas of the ‘pre-trib rapture and the great tribulation’ were like bak when this was written.

Just rapture propaganda. The story is one dimensional and reads like a tv show with bad actors following bad writing. The book seems to conflate salvation with a belief (or not) in the rapture. Even Christian characters are left behind just for not believing in this particular rapture doctrine and at that seemingly unsaved because of that nonadherence. Don't waste time on it :/

I haven't read this one for several years and found it to still be very interesting. There are plenty of scripture references to back up the story. It's well worth reading if you're a Christian or to share with someone who is seeking to know more about becoming a Christian or get closer to God.

When I first read back in '81 I would have doubtless given this a 4. Revisiting it again I took it down a bit. I'll always love Reverend Angley, I attended several of his crusades as a young man. But this pales in comparison to later books (Left Behind, etc). Preachers often use anecdotes while giving a sermon. This books reads like decades of anecdotes on folks who were not ready for the Second Coming, in other words, poor character development. The story does pick up a bit following the Rapture. With the reduced number of characters the story becomes more focused. But again, let me stress I'm critical of the novel, not the message.

This book was poorly written. At times, the tenses changed in mid-paragraph. Despite the writing style, the gruesome images of those who were martyred would hopefully cause terror in a non-Christian and lead to repentance.

Great novel on the second coming of Jesus. Beautifully written by a wonderful author and a wonderful minister. If you are a believer this is a must read.
