Shungiku Nakamura (中村春菊 Nakamura Shungiku?, born December 13,1980) is a Japanese yaoi manga artist. She is most famous for creating Junjo Romantica: Pure Romance. Shungiku Nakamura's distinct style of manga has been identified largely throughout Japanese and English yaoi fanbases. Her works usually include large age gaps between the seme and uke and characters with careers in the publishing industry (as depicted in Junjo Romantica and Sekai-ichi Hatsukoi). She often cowrites with Fujisaki Miyako, who authored the novels of Yoshino Chiaki no baai in Sekai-ichi Hatsukoi.

Works:
Junjo Romantica: Pure Romance (2002 - Ongoing)
"Junjou Mistake" (2008)
Hybrid Child (2003 - 2004)
Sekai-ichi Hatsukoi (2007 - Ongoing)
"√W.P.B." (2004)
"Touzandou Tentsui Ibun" (1998 - 1999)
"Mangetsu Monogatari"
"Tsuki wa Yamiyo ni Kakuru ga Gotoku" (1999)
"Picturesque of a Mask" (art only)
"Umi ni Nemuru Hana"

The official translation is so bad it pisses me off.

The story itself is doing it's usual thing, and while Misaki actually seems to have grown up a little, it's the usual same old same old. I was happy about the Junjou Mistake storyline; it's nice to say she can write people almost acting like adults.

But seriously, that translation. Isn't there anyone proofreading this AT ALL? Like, the mistake in the beginning should be obvious to anyone capable of logical thinking: Usagi is inviting Misaki to travel to Kyoto with him but thinks Kyoto isn't enough. So he suggests going somewhere else as well: "to China, Shikoku and Kyuushuu." Notice something? One of these ISN'T a region in Japan. There is, however, a region called Chuugoku, written in the same kanji as China. A few sentences later, Usagi even asks Misaki whether he wants to go abroad instead. You know, abroad as TO ANOTHER COUNTRY, like, say, fucking CHINA.

Honestly, that is so obviously lazy and stupid it really makes me angry. In case you couldn't tell.

WARNING: As usual, this review will contain spoilers

After participating in an award ceremony in which he accepted the International Literature Award Usagi brings Misaki to Kamakura to celebrate his birthday. They spent the afternoon together, eating and shopping, before going to their hotel to relax. Misaki gets a phone call from Ijuuin and goes outside to answer it. That's when he sees Ijuuin outside the hotel with a camera in his hand. He had already planned to be in the area before Usagi decided to go there and looked at it as fate bringing him and Misaki together again. Misaki tries to tell him, more clearly this time, that he didn't feel the same way as he did but Ijuuin doesn't seem to want to accept it, instead telling him that he definitely plans on taking him out on a date in the future. He refuses to take no for an answer! Usagi witnessed half of the conversation and was happy that Misaki rejected his advances. He's trusting Misaki more and more everyday.

The next day when they returned home Misaki's brother was there. He and his family had planned on coming over to celebrate Usagi's award and Misaki's birthday at the same time. It was during this celebration that Takahiro tells Misaki that it's time for him to move out. He lets him know that until he finds an apartment of his own he can stay with his family but the end goal is for him to find his own place and become an independent adult. Neither him nor Usagi wants this but Misaki doesn't know how to tell Takahiro without revealing his relationship with Usagi. After spending just one day at his brother's house Misaki realized just how hard being separated from Usagi is. He missed him more than he expected and now understands that being separated from him isn't going to work.

Act 33 is the first act continuing the story past the anime. I'm surprised the anime went as far into the series as it did. Misaki's situation feels so suffocating. His brother's insistence that he moves out does seem like a big problem but it really isn't. This is his first test as an adult; he needs to let his brother know that he no longer needs to makes decisions for him. Takahiro loves him and even if he doesn't like the idea of the two of them being together he will eventually get over it for the sake of maintaining a relationship with him. And what is he going to do with Ijuuin? (I actually don't mind them being together but) Misaki is in love with Usagi so he needs to figure out a way to get it through his head that they don't have a chance. This series is still going strong and, as usual, I can't wait to start the next volume.

Favorite story from this one was the one where Takahiro remembers his and Misaki's past, when they lost their parents.

Same complaint as with the last few volumes: I really wish Misaki would start showing a bit less panic and resistance toward Akihiko because it's starting to veer into seeming nonconsensual.

This volume is where the last season of the anime aired had ended; season 3.

Junjou Romantica act 32
My favourite part-
"Happy 22nd Birthday Misaki"
"I hope that I can be with Usagi-san forever."

Junjou Romantica act 33 ∆ Misaki finally chose Usagi in all ways possible. I wonder if he'd man up to tell his brother.

Couldn't find these, so considering the vol done-
Junjou Mistake act 3
Junjou Mistake act 3.5

QUICK THOUGHTS (on the series not this volume):
I have been following this for a while and yes, some of the usual tropes and annoyances that come with the genre I still dislike (especially when it comes to CONSENT!!), I enjoy Junjou Romantica.
I like the unique setting with Usagi's job and the glimpses we get into that and I especially Hiro and Nowaki as a couple. (I can identify with Hiro quite a bit at times, as well as with Misaki.) Something that strikes a chord in me with this story are some of the memorable quotes I have jotted down here and there. (And for such a long time, too.)

I had stopped reading this for quite a while, so it makes me happy that I can now catch up to a bit of story now :D

OH! And the artwork, I really do enjoy Nakamura Shungiku's drawings quite a lot.

EEEK! Ijuuin-sensei is quite a creepy character! Pretty despicable, yikes.
