Learning to bowl has never been easier—or more fun—than with Bowling Fundamentals. Students will enjoy using this resource because they will learn by doing, spending less time reading and more time on the lanes. With simple instructions and accompanying photographs, this book makes it easy to teach students to bowl.
My uncle Clifford G. Baxter passed away this past February, and this would make him proud. He was truly the best uncle a kid could have; bought me my first bowling ball for Christmas (a baby blue 10 pounder), always went and played miniature golf in the summertime (he lived in Jacksonville, FL), and was a generous soul if ever there was one. So, I received this little tome of bowling wisdom for free from a giveaway, but that really didn't affect my rating. The lady who put this together did a damn fine job. I really felt like her advice on ball release (good form leading up, clean thumb release, staying within your comfort zone of lane play) was spot on and helpful. Also, my biggest weakness was addressed: picking up spares. Chances are, a guy like me who doesn't bowl often enough, will not get the strike every time. In fact, I still haven't broken 200. So getting better at my spare game will probably be a life long goal. Her advice has mainly to do with shoulder position at the time of release. Be angled toward the pins you are looking to hit. Okay, I'm going to go and try some of these techniques as soon as possible, and you better believe I'm gonna read up on this book before I go!
Bowling Fundamentals by Michelle Mullen is a very good tool and guideline on the sport of bowling. It covers a wide range of topics from how to grip the ball, to the mental side of the game. Everything you would want to know about learning how to become a consistent bowler is inside. I only wish I would have had this book when I began my bowling career.
I recommend this book to anyone interested in becoming a better bowler, be that in leagues or just for fun.
I received this product free for review but as always, despite receiving a free product I'm perfectly candid in my review.
Essentially, this book contains more detailed information about bowling than I ever new actually existed. Everything is detailed here from how to have your ball drilled properly to where to put your feet. The information is exhaustive and meticulously compiled and organized with plentiful charts, graphs and pictures. Also, it even includes the details for left-handed bowlers. I cannot recommend this highly enough if you're an analytically-minded
PS: I hope my review was helpful. If it was not, then please let me know what I left out that you’d want to know. I always aim to improve.
A bland read, but informative. Very helpful in terms of breaking down an effective way to approach and throw, although it felt pretty redundant. It was also helpful, as a recreational bowler gaining more interest in the sport, to gather key points that were necessary for improving my game. This helped me consider what ball to buy, and what to expect as I made changes in my own journey for improvement.
