In Vanessa Davis Griggs' eagerly anticipated sequel to Promises Beyond Jordan, Pastor George Landris is back, but this time he's sharing the spotlight with a family of strong-willed, true-to-life women who must struggle to overcome wounded spirits and severed ties. Richly populated with complex, unforgettable characters, Wings of Grace is a fresh and engaging novel, Griggs' fines' to date. Because Lena Patterson never enjoyed a fulfilling relationship with her mother, she is determined to break the cycle and be there one-hundred percent for her now-pregnant daughter, Theresa Raised by her strong and loving grandmother, Lena looks forward to playing a central role in her own grandchild's life. Then an older woman shows up on Theresa's doorstep looking for Lena. Lena is dubious, convinced that the woman is just looking to get her hands on an heirloom necklace. As painful memories from the distant past re-emerge, the ties that bind a mother to her daughter seem primed to endure a wrenching test. Meanwhile, wedding bells are fast approaching for Pastor Landris and his fiancee, writer Johnnie Mae Taylor But circumstances are taking shape that threaten to place Landris's pastorhip, and his life, in grave jeopardy. Johnnie Mae, for her part, has embarked on a journey of her own. Performing research for an upcoming book, she crosses paths with Sarah Fleming, an old woman whose story will expose a range of startling truths and, ultimately, reshape the nature of Johnnie Mae's faith.
Vanessa Davis Griggs is the author of novels: DESTINY UNLIMITED, THE ROSE OF JERICHO, PROMISES BEYOND JORDAN, WINGS OF GRACE, BLESSED TRINITY, STRONGHOLDS, IF MEMORY SERVES and PRACTICING WHAT YOU PREACH, GOODNESS AND MERCY, THE TRUTH IS THE LIGHT, RAY OF HOPE,, REDEEMING WATERS, FOREVER SOUL TIES, THE OTHER SIDE OF GOODNESS, THE OTHER SIDE OF DARE, THE OTHER SIDE OF DIVINE, STEELY GRAY and COUNTLESS BLESSINGS.
I would love to give "Wings of Grace" by Vanessa Davis Griggs five stars. I loved the characters: Theresa, George, Thomas, Mrs. Gates, etc. The Alexandrite necklace's history really held my interest along with the wedding plans for Theresa and Pastor Landris.
The theological questions were really good too. I especially liked thinking about denial and faith. When am I in denial vs. when am I using God's gift of faith? However, with all that I loved, I felt the author gave too many pages to preaching from the Bible. Perhaps, there are two books in one. One is non-fiction and one is Historical fiction or Contemporary fiction. Still, at some point I will definitely read another book by Vanessa Davis Griggs. I would like to meet Memory again. Such a name remains significant in my mind.
I have read this book about 5 times, and each time I read ii, it has helped me along my own spiritual journey. I find it spirit filled and soul lifting. I recommend this and all her books. Each one teaches at least one lesson, when you trust in God, you need not worry.

Wings Of Grace by Vanessa Davis Griggs
My Thoughts...
All I can say is Author Vanessa Griggs is a wonderful story telling. She definitely gives her readers something good to read all the time. "Wings Of Grace" was absolutely a wonderful story fulled with a good story along with Biblical scriptures that went along with each chapter that showed 'love, unity, greed, romance, mystery, loyalty of family and true friends.' This is definitely a inspirational and intriguing christian fiction novel that will touch ones heart. This story really goes with the saying 'What is done in the dark will come to the light.'
Great book. At first it was difficult to follow as so many characters were introduced and it was hard to keep track of who was who. The novel was a great teaching novel on life, forgiveness, greed and love. I enjoyed reading it.
I finished this book in less than 48 hours. I really felt a connection to the characters so much so that in one part of the book I almost stopped to pray for them in a situation they were in. But then I remember this is a fiction book. It's full of secrets, twist and turns, the characters are every day folks with their own sets of morals and flaws. We're reminded God is at work and we all need Grace. Don't miss out on this enjoyable read
This is a wonderful read that keeps your mind on the story when you're not reading it. The twists and turns keeps you motivated and spiritually in tuned to the story. The relevelence to Godly principles concerning God's word about women and our belief is divinely inspired by the authors words.
Mrs. Davis-Griggs is an awsome anointed author. I love how she is able to incorperate Gods word in her stories and allow the Holy Spirit to Bring it to life. I thank God for blessing her with the creative ability to glorify His name through words
I always enjoy reading books by Vanessa Davis Griggs. The characters are full of life and the issues always parallel real life issues and her themes always provide inspiration for even those who are hopeless.
As always, Ms. Davis-Griggs did not fail to provide a rich and gripping message in this book or in any of the Trinity line of book. One should read the whole series.
In my quest to keep continuously reading all kinds of books, I came across the audio edition of this book through my local library. I had not heard of the author, nor did I know this was part of a series, but simply picked it up because it was classified as Christian Fiction, and it was available. Well, I'm happy to say that I enjoyed this book immensely. Ms. Griggs is a wonderful author, with a wonderful writing style, with rich and realistic characters. I agree with one reviewer that I was a bit confused in the beginning, simply because so many characters were introduced in the beginning, I lost track of who was who. With this being an audio book, I had to start again from the beginning, but I was hooked on the story right away. Just like real life, which is complicated, the plot of this book is a bit complicated, and I enjoyed it. I loved the continual Biblical references, and the commitment that the author has toward honoring God with her writing. There was a lot of teaching in the book, and reinforcement of Biblical principals. In all, this is a very good book that I would recommend to anyone who enjoys good Christian Fiction.
This was the continuation of Promises Beyond Jordan. It continued the story with Theresa and George Landris who never got married. George finally admitted that he was in love with Johnnie Mae and Theresa finally admitted that she was pregnant by Maurice. They did become friends, all four of them and managed to have a really nice friendship. There are so many things going on in this story that sometimes you cannot keep up. In the end, it turned out well. I liked the first book a lot better. Read: August 2013
This was my favorite book out of all the series! I cried like a baby at the end of the book, unable to hold the tears while reading the rest of it in the library. It encourages me to write such touching, inspirational books in the near future. I will have to get all her collection of books except Destiny Unlimited. This would be good for a teen ager to read@!
I thoroughly enjoyed both Promises and Wings. The author is an excellent story teller. And I loved the way she included the Word of God all througout both books. I cannot wait to start the other books that follow!
