Bliss D. Light was just an ordinary children’s librarian until one day she discovered she could grow a tail. I don’t read novels with shapeshifters very often but ‘Recovered’ makes me think perhaps I should! I tend to stick with more serious books however; my mood tends to get dark at times. I think reading more fun novels like this would brighten my mood. ‘Recovered’ made me laugh and smile a lot!
Librarian, Bliss D. Light comes to realize she sometimes becomes a dog. Yes, the kind with four legs and a tale, a greyhound, in fact. J Thus begins her adventure with her friend Harry, a werewolf/dog-shifter mix on their search for the dog-shifters’ lost library. Along the way they encounter all kinds of hurdles including Harry’s ex-wife, dog catchers, being forced into dog fighting, and being sold to a race track, among other things.
It sounds crazy, I know but it is crazy good! I got so caught up in the story that I could not put ‘Recovered’ down and had to stay up into the wee hours for the morning to finish it. This book was so well written in the expert hands of Amber Polo. It’s full of fun quirky characters that are well developed and that I will not soon forget.
‘Recovered’ is the third novel in her ‘Shapeshifters Library’ series but the series can easily be read out of order as they are loosely linked. I now have the first two books on my list to read. Highly recommended!

In this horribly plausible version of our modern world, the dog shapeshifters love books and work in libraries, while the werewolves try to burn books. So a political campaign to create employment and remove a nuisance by hiring a million dog-catchers and running a free spay-neuter programme to reduce dog numbers, just has to originate with werewolves. The evil genius Sybilla has plans to take the dog reduction a step further, in order to wipe out dog-shifters, but first the werewolf family has to seek political power and campaign donations.
Feeling the effects of persecution first hand is a gentle greyhound librarian Bliss who narrowly escapes capture when her half-wolf friend Harry comes to her rescue. They meet more friends at Starbarks and research the original site of an ancient library, not realising how far the dastardly plan has proceeded. The dogs are not entirely blameless in the feud, of course. They hold werewolves in a prison until they are rehabilitated enough to do something sensible and doglike, against their wolfish natures. Some wolves operate secretly in environmental services, preserving, not destroying. We see the Mississippi landscape and Effigy burial mounds; also Isle Royale National Park. Then a greyhound racing track and dog rescue centre.
Amazing what you learn from this book. All lawyers are werewolves, despite their love of reading legal texts. Or maybe that explains the texts being so impenetrable. In the previous book I read in this series I learnt that werewolves control all the big publishing houses. That accounts for it.
While the trail of clues leading to a lost library didn't fascinate me, I'm not living in America and I can easily see American readers tracing the routes taken and enjoying the history. This is like the Da Vinci Code. I did love the dry humour, tension, genuine situations and well-drawn people. And dogs, of course. Fans of urban fantasy and dogs should definitely check out Amber Polo's books about the Shapeshifters' Library. This one is suitable for readers from mature teens to adults.

RECOVERED is a doggily-licious, dog-delightful story, and I can't wait to read this entertaining and imaginative series in full. In Southern Ohio, there is a pack of dog shifter Librarians (yes, you read that accurately), most of whom are late-in-life shifters, and other Librarians who are shifter friends. This small community also houses a more aggressive and generally unfriendly werewolf pack. The Dog shifters also maintain an academy for guiding and training the shifters, and are investigating and uncovering a mysterious Mound, which may contain the Library of the Ancients.
The characters are treasures, and their interaction is uplifting and heartwarming. The story is a positive joy, the kind of story that makes a reader happy to read it. If you like stories that raise your spirits, don't miss RECOVERED, and the series, THE SHAPESHIFTER'S LIBRARY.

The review of the book RECOVERED by Amber Polo
(The Shapeshifters' Library, #3)
This book is an interesting book to read. It started with Bliss being almost captured and Harry the wolf coming to her aide, it starts with the kind of “hero” feeling which captivates one to want to read further.
Bliss, the dog shape shifter, loves books a lot and works in a library. While Harry the werewolf, a former book burner held back the growth of the shifters library for a very long time, undergoes a great change to become a book lover. The story goes on to tell us the mistrust the dog shifter has for the werewolf as notice in Bran’s comment to Bliss.
The next chapter talks about Sybilla Dinzelbacher Romano, daughter of Senator Dante Romano, and her so called political campaign to create employment and keep the street safe by hiring a million dog-catchers and running a free spay-neuter program to reduce dog numbers, She was still angry and seeking revenge from the defeat she suffered in the hands of Godiva, that mousey brown librarian which, leads to the banishment of her and her packs. In order to bring her evil genius plan to fruition, she and the werewolf family first have to seek political power and campaign donations.
It also talks about Senator Dante plan to run for president with the secret agenda that in four years he’d destroy all the dogs in the country. And with no dogs, there’d be no dog-shifters. No dog-shifters to promote reading. No dog-shifters to oppose his plans to close all the libraries in the country. No dog-shifters. Another interesting thing about this book is that all lawyers are werewolves who, makes it hard to capture werewolves and be taken for trials or dog shifters getting just trials in a court.
In chapter five of this book, it took an interesting turn where Miss. Bliss a librarian, loved by all, resigns in order to fulfill her desire to find the ancient library and to find her real parents.
This is a very interesting story which shows us the odds a librarian from a small town had to go through, from her discovering her identity to her going on an adventure to know about her past and find her parents, despite all the challenges she faced from the werewolf’s.
It can be recommended to others who are going through challenges, not to give up, no matter what they face until they achieve their purpose.

BLISSFULLY DELIGHTFUL.
I had read "Released, The Shapeshifters' Library #1" after enjoying Amber Polo's writing in other genres -Mystery, Romance, and Self-help.
Paranormal and Fantasy are not my usual reading choices, but, I enjoyed it so much, I wanted more.
Book #2, "Retrieved" did not disappoint, so I grabbed "Recovered" #3 in the Shapeshifters' Library as soon as it came out.
I can say "blissfully delightful" because I am one of the first to offer a review of "Recovered."
Bliss D. Light is the librarian heroine, and she now proudly tops the list of wonderfully quirky character names.
Again we have a beautiful young librarian shapeshifter, and she is also a beautiful white greyhound.
Bliss and Harry, her boyfriend/werewolf, set out on a dangerous adventure to locate and save an ancient library from destruction by evil werewolf shapeshifters. Harry, of course, is a good werewolf. The bad werewolves are led by Sybilla, Harry's ex-wife, who has corrupt political connections.
During the trip from Ohio to New Mexico Bliss and Harry survive capture, mistreatment, and injury, but their love matches their persistence throughout the journey.
The best part for me(no spoiler here)was what Bliss found in New Mexico, besides the Library of the Ancients.
I recommend you let the author's imagination take you into her world of shapeshifting dogs who have taken on the responsibility of preserving books for mankind. That's a noble enterprise, since books emanate from and encourage our imagination in the real world.
And, with books and dogs, we will be okay.
Change into your dog form, go to Starbarks, order a chai latte and read "Recovered" by Amber Polo.
If your puppies can read, they'll like it, too.

"I absolutely could not put this book down. When I first started reading it I was a bit confused.
Of course I did that thing once again where I pick up a book halfway into the series and get surprised when all of the characters seem oddly fleshed out already. But this book brought me in from the first page and made me go back and read the first two as well.
The main character, Bliss is a children's librarian who occasionally—in her off hours, of course-- shifts into the form of a dog. A greyhound, to be precise. And she's in love with a werewolf. Just from that description I would have read it.
The book takes off right away with Bliss being almost kidnapped (dognapped?) and Harry (her boyfriend) coming to her rescue. This book had excellent pacing and, like I said, I couldn't put it down once I got into it.
Harry and Bliss end up going on a harrowing journey to find an ancient library that may be in danger and it reminded me of a movie at times! Harry's ex wife was hounding (get it? Dog reference) them the whole time.
I loved Bliss! I thought she was so kick-butt as a heroine and Harry was a really great hero.
I expect that this is a good installment in the series, like I said, I'm planning on reading the first two still. But if the third book in a series can manage to pull me in like this and re-introduce the characters well enough that I don't feel lost I feel like I won't be disappointed with the first two either.
I feel like this book would be great for anyone that likes paranormal romances, dogs, libraries, adventure...honestly I can't think of anyone that wouldn't like it. I could recommend this to pretty much anyone I know. 5 stars!"

This is another interesting shapeshifsters storyline. At times, you have to put yourself I to the land of make believe.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I learned one thing about myself as a reader that I hadn't experienced before reading this book. I don't like shifters who are able to talk as a human while in their animal form. It seems too fanciful for me. That fact in itself is the only bad thing I can find about this book.
The book itself can be read as a standalone, I didn't feel too out of the loop even though this is the third book in a series. There was enough of the backstory woven into the book so that I didn't feel like I couldn't understand what was going on. Overall, the feel of the book is fanciful, light at times, and adventurous.
Bliss and Harry are an unusual couple, both most definitely not alphas. In the beginning of the book, they are both characters I could see being wallflowers, liking to stay in the shadows and not in the center of attention. They are very much in contrast to their werewolf counterparts, Sybilla and Blaze. It's that contrast and the tension between the two duos as they race to find the lost library. I enjoyed watching both Bliss and Harry grow as characters and find their voice as the book progressed. It is a life's lesson that when you find your calling, that is where you find your strength.

Do you love the Harry Potter series? Enjoy a bit of fantasy? Love dogs? Then you need to fetch Recovered by Amber Polo. You're in for a real treat!
Recovered is the third book in Polo's Shapeshifters' Library, a delightful dog adventure series. Bibliophiles will be charmed by the "Dewey-speak." Dog lovers will find new beloved canine characters.
I laughed, as well as trembled with fear for Bliss and Harry. I also marveled at the imagination of Polo. It didn't take me long to be fully immersed in her world, even though I'd not read books #1 and #2.
Shapeshifting was new to me and, I confess, I thoroughly enjoyed Recoverd. My curiosity led me to the author's website where I discovered her quiz: How to Tell if Your Dog is a Shapeshifter. Oh, oh. Dogs who are unusually smart or good looking may be dog-shifters. Definitely need to keep an eye on my Golden Retriever, Jeffie, and give him some high quality reading material. Actually, I think he'd enjoy Polo's Recovered.
Truly, I don't want to say much more without giving away the plot. Recovered is a magical experience and so much fun.

Trying to keep names and shifters straight was hard at first, but once I did I settled into the story nicely. I loved Bliss and Harry, they were so much in love and it was a close relationship. It is action packed and suspense filled. You fall in love with characters, well most of them as you get to know them. The story does wrap up at the end. Wonderful afternoon read. A novel like RECOVERED elicits a happy sigh from me. This is the type of book you want to curl up to read by the fire with a cup of hot tea on a rainy day. It's exciting, engrossing and has the sweetest of romances. I've really enjoyed all of the Shapeshiters' Library books, but RECOVERED is my favorite!
RECOVERED has a National Treasure (love that movie!) vibe with mystery and adventure at it's core. There's a race to discover a long-lost treasure which existence has been disputed, and woven in are themes of redemption and the breaking of stereotypes and racism. I will say that there was a plot hole that bugged me quite a bit. How did the redneck werewolf hear about Bliss and Harry's trip when it was a secret with only a few select dogs in the know? This did dig at me quite a bit, but honestly the story is just so good, it's impossible mot to forgive an issue or two.
RECOVERED has a National Treasure (love that movie!) vibe with mystery and adventure at it's core. There's a race to discover a long-lost treasure which existence has been disputed, and woven in are themes of redemption and the breaking of stereotypes and racism. This book has some great things going for it. 1.It's for sure YA which is something I love to read. 2. It paranormal with werewolves, dog-shifters, a mention of a half vampire, and a druid queen. It is a good fast pace read, that seems to be part of a bigger story line, while still able to work as a stand alone. Bliss Light at times is so perfect that it made me hard to connect to her and that is part of why this book is 3 stars. Another reason is the book is filled with repeated information that at times feels over used and at the end so rushed that it left me wanting just a little more and a little confused as the time frame. I did enjoy the story over all and found it to be a nice break story from what I had been reading.

This book seemed a slow at first but eventually picked up. I liked it. It was sweet but somewhat predictable. The ending seemed a bit rushed.

This is an unusual book. I had never read a dog shape shifter story before.
It took a little getting used to at first. But I really like Bliss. She and Harry went through quite a bit to find the ancient library. There was a lot of suspense as Harry's ex-wife, Sybilla, was on their trail. It kept me on the edge of my seat. I enjoyed this story. It can be a stand alone book even though it is in a series. The former characters are explained well.

This world is a battle between werewolves and dog shifters. The dog shifters are those that promote reading and education where the werewolves are wild and crave power. This story is about Sybilla Dinzelbacher Romano who is smarting from being defeated by a dog shifter. Sybilla has a plan to increase dog catchers, offer free neutering and spaying, and create dog fighting areas. The plan is to remove the dog from the country.
Bliss D. Light is a librarian that is in for a surprise when she changes into a white greyhound. After her initial surprise, her friend Harry is there to help her. Harry is a reformed werewolf and he is showing Bliss the ropes. Bliss decides to quit being a librarian to hunt for the Library of the Ancients. But this is not going to be an easy archeologist dig. Blis and Harry have the werewolves’ attention and they are going to have one heck of a fight on their hands.
I loved this story. It is so easy to get sucked into this world. I loved the dynamics between the dogs that want to educate and the wolves that are fighting for anarchy, essentially. Bliss was a great strong leader and didn’t let the different situations keep her down.
This is a great story and one that I strongly recommend checking out. This is the third book in the series but it was easy to read without feeling lost. Now I really want to check out the other books in this series to see what I have missed.

An absolutely wonderful read of whimsy and fantasy that even the jaded would enjoy. The idea of late in life shifters that are there for the furrbabies and these characters are well developed within their roles through the story. Of course there always has to be an evil element, but they only add to the story’s suspense. I truly loved this read and would read Polo again down the road. Nope….all I’m saying as I don’t want to add spoilers for those who haven’t had a chance to read for themselves. 5 Star rating is warranted…so get your read on. Not your usual shifter tales (no pun intended).

I have to admit that I am getting bored with this storyline. Change the names and the story's the same. It always ends up with two dogs/people falling in love. The bad gal is the same in every book. For the record, (spoiler here) there is no way she would have left Bliss and what's his name alive when she found them in the desert. She would have killed them both along with Bliss' parents who would have been witnesses. That way Bliss' threat of exposing the villain's wily ways to her father would have become null and void.
I am currently reading book four because I had already purchased it. I foresee two new potential lovers overcoming the female villain again. Ta da...
