Dinner with Olivia can be used as a Text- to-Text connection for Pre-K to grade 2. More importantly for Pre-K introducing manners and using their words when interacting amongst their classmates. To be respectful to each other. A on going teachable moment at lunch time (family style).

A pig family with just one piglet? At Francine house her parents are very sophisticated and she is nervous to go there. She spills her water and does not like the sprouts. I don't blame her I don't like sprouts either. This book is a cartoon on Nickelodeon I think. Very good for the kids to see how different families are at the dinner table and it teaches manners somewhat.

This is kind of nice. Olivia’s friend Francine invited Olivia to her house for dinner. It turns out that Francine’s family is very proper and they eat food that Olivia never usually have. And this picture book teaches the young readers about table manners, what a bento box is and Brussel Sprouts.

Based on the TV series of the same name, this book tells about Olivia being invited out to dinner. She gives us the experience of her family dinner - together with slurping, mess and dog chases. Then she dreams of the ideal dinner in a high hall with butlers on rollerskates. She goes out to dinner and it is not an enjoyable experience - eating brussel sprouts in a house with a white carpet and where jokes are not allowed to be told at the table.
We had fun discussing how different families have different rules and that you have to obey the rules of the house. Also what things my daughter would like to have as part of our family dinner tradition. Fun and gentle although with some extremes thrown in there to make you think!

My daughter loves Olivia, this character is based on a television series named Olivia, a little cute pig on Nikelodeon. This is more of a preschool prek book. The bases of this story is Olivia eating dinner and what foods she eats healthy and unhealthy foods. A lot of the pages in the books have food on it and the illustrations are very colorful.

Learning Extension: I would read the story and create a chart of healthy and unhealthy foods and ask the children what foods they remember from the book and color them on the chart. I then would have some real food out on the table and have the children group them on on my plate that I have created.

Olivia gets invited to her friend Francine's house for dinner. Although Olivia is excited, she is nervous too because she wants to make sure she does everything properly so she can impress Francine's family. She practices with her stuffed animals at home but nothing can compare to the real thing at Francine's!! She gets in trouble for telling funny stories and for spilling food...how could everything go so wrong? This is a very cute picture book and a cute story, but there is a lot of text on each page making it hard to keep kids' attention. EL-OPTIONAL.

This is very well adapted. The pacing feels correct and the dialogue is amusing. The plot is just ok. I don't mind Olivia, but the TV series really annoys me. This is more enjoyable. I don't know this is a great children's book--being about manners/no manners. It's a fun read. Way better adapted than the Disney books.

This is a delightful story about Olivia and her friend. Olivia is invited to her friend's house for dinner. She is very nervous because she doesn't know what to expect from her fancy friend. This is a great story to read to kids for fun and to teach them how every family is different.

This is a fun book about a pig named Olivia. This is a good book to teach table manners to the children with. Its a fun book about her at school. 2nd grade and below would enjoy this and even preschool kids. She is a fun little pig.

I chose to read this book because I had first grade girls in a reading group that really loved the Olivia books. I did not enjoy this book based off of the tv show as much as I did the original books.

I felt like there were pages missing out if this book. It wasn't seamless like the first book. The thing with saying no to having brussel sprouts and then having them anyway was odd, as was the too-quick ending.

I get the message, I just wish the tale had been a bit more cohesive.

First of all, I love it because there is a Bento Box in it! Yeah! Everyone should know what that is! It was a cute story basically about how everyone's family does things differently. Dinner traditions and expectations vary.

It's a fun look at food issues for kids. The grass isn't always greener on the other side, but the brussels sprouts may be. Our families may be rude and wild at dinner but at least we get to tell jokes.

My 4 year old absolutely loves Olivia! We have read all her books over and over and over and over again. This one is his favorite - he loves Ian... also likes to slurp his spaghetti ;)
