Fans of Dieter F. Uchtdorf and Henry Eyring Sr. will love this little book.I highly recommend reading this book no matter what your religious belief is, and please keep an open mind. It should not take you very long to read, but thinking about the text may take you the rest of your life. -The JargaurnautDo science and religion really have to be at odds with each other? Are they compatible? What if Moses actually understood the science behind the earth’s history, and the language of God in the Bible actually tells the same story as any geology textbook? Genesis Evolution makes that case. The geological history of the earth is told in a way that any scientist would agree, and is placed side-by-side with the first chapter of Genesis. Told in a manner that you don’t have to be a scientist to understand, you’ll be able to see how the pieces of science and religion fit nicely together. As you read this book, be open-minded. Whether you’re a devout Christian, a die-hard atheist, or somewhere in between, this book will truly make you think… if you let it.
The book draws excellent connections between scientific conclusion and religious doctrine. However, it is very simply written (perhaps because, as the author states, he is no scientist or prophet, just a man who likes to learn) and left me wanting a deeper analysis of the issues and scriptures he evaluated. Nonetheless, it helped me better frame some thoughts on the subject I have had in the past.
Very short read, like reading a good fireside talk on evolution. This basically put words to what I have always thought about how science and scripture hold hands and agree rather than disagree when it comes to evolution. My favorite was the last chapter where he sorts what is LDS doctrine & what is not. I enjoyed this ebook.
A beautiful description of the creation of the earth which unites science and the writing of Moses.
Have questions about prehistoric man? What of the slime that was "first life" from the ocean? Want a full and rich experience while reading Genesis? This short book delivers.
As a Christian I was brought up on the Bible's version of the creation in church and evolution in school. This book did an excellent job of showing how both versions can be held in harmony rather than in opposition. I really enjoyed the book
Really enjoyed reading this book, it opened my mind as to how long it took to construct the earth which was totally different to what I had in mind really interesting and more realistic
I was intrigued by the title and just had to read this book. I found it very refreshing and completely honest. I very much appreciate the candor and honest feelings he shares and recommend this book to everyone!
Lousy science and lousy religion. Author apparently lacks education and inspiration. Worst case scenario is not knowing and yet thinking that you do. Example in hand.
I love the language this author uses to explain this scientific subject that always stressed me out in high school and college. I recommend this book for anyone who wants a simple, concise explanation of the relationship between God and the creation of our world. I am open minded about the theory of evolution, and now even the Big Bang theory, and find no need for myself to form concrete opinions as to how our world was made or not...but I do know that God was involved and in charge, and this book fortifies that viewpoint in a wonderful way. It was a pleasure to read! I hope this book gets a huge audience, because it is enlightening to say the least! One last thing--this author's down-to-earth (no pun intended) way of telling stories made this an entertaining read. I loved it.
