Winter has hit Hemlock Cove – and not in a fun way.
The cold weather is keeping most tourists out of town, which is just fine with the Winchester witches. They’re using the lull as a way to recharge and take a break – even if Aunt Tillie is causing her usual havoc.
All that comes crashing down, though, when a large yacht is found abandoned in a nearby channel and there’s blood on the deck. For Bay, things go from bad to worse when local law enforcement is joined by a federal representative in the form of Landon Michaels – her former flirt partner and possible boyfriend.
Landon has come to town for more than just the case, though; he’s here to make amends. And even if Bay is ready to accept his apology, that doesn’t mean her family is. Landon may be here to win her back, but he’s also a man on a mission – and that mission is truth. He wants to know the Winchester family secret – whether Bay is ready to share it or not.
Landon isn’t the only visitor in Hemlock Cove, either. Thistle’s father – Ted Proctor – is also in town. More magic! More mystery! And more Aunt Tillie💛
This book has close to 50% five stars, however in reading the reviews you would get the impression this is not a very good book.... not sure why, it is the third book in the series, and it was as good if not better than the previous, and why would you read the third book in a series if you didn’t like the first two??? This book had the same fabulous characters with all their Snark and banter, and even more of good old aunt Tillie.... The mystery was much better developed than in the previous books as well, they actually did some sleuthing.... and there was even a bit of a cliffhanger at the end, definitely looking forward to spending more time with these wonderful witches..... however, if you are looking for a series with tremendous character growth, this definitely is not the series for you, and I don’t think it supposed to be and quite honestly I don’t think I want there to be....

It was okay but it really felt like the story was getting a bit tired; crime, crazy family and snark and you've pretty much got any of the last three books. The jokes were getting pretty old, none of the characters have changed (if anything everyone seems to have got more immature). I probably won't bother reading the next book I suspect it going to be more of the same.

This was certainly light reading but it was entertaining and had some lovely twists at the end which I didn’t see coming. I enjoyed this book best so far in the series, which I would recommend be read in order.
There is lots of sass and sarcasm, perhaps a little too much repetition of phrases though not enough to get me gritting my teeth, and no overt sex.

In the third book in the series, Landon has come back to help solve a case, but he also wants another chance with Bay. Bay isn't sure what to think, and she isn't sure how to go about revealing her secret, but she is hoping that things work out. However, they have another huge surprise coming their way. One of their dad's is in town and things aren't looking good.
This book was really very good. I enjoyed how Landon was trying to fit in, however, it is still a bit annoying that we don't read much of a relationship between Landon and Bay, it is more of Landon, Bay, and her whole family. Which, is cool sometimes, but it also takes away from their actually relationship at least right now it does. But I'm hoping that gets better later, and we really learn what Bay feels like towards him as well.
Other than that though, this one was good, and I can't believe it ended like that either. I can't wait for more now.

Since I didn't enjoy the first book very much, but the second book got better, I thought, "Let's try the third. At this rate, by the time I reach the end of the series so far, I'll be really loving it." Unfortunately, I think this one took a bit of back slide. It's just all the same. It's a problem that books in a series tend to have. A good example is the later Anita Blake books... each one just reads like the one before it, interchangeably. This is my main problem here... these three that I've read could have happened in any order. No character has experienced any growth or change. At least, finally, I can tell one of the cousins apart since it seems Clove has found her own voice. Every other character seems to just be written the same to me, and they are written as immature. Even other characters call them that, so I can only assume it's on purpose.
Not that it's written badly, because it's not. It's not high literature either. It's a light, easy read.

Bay helps investigate an abandoned yacht found drifting in Hemlock Cove with no one on board and blood on the deck. She’s also suspicious of properties being bought up under shady circumstances. But the worst part is when her new boss at the newspaper introduces her to their most recent advertising account - none other than her cousin Thistle’s absentee father.

I was stressed from beginning to end, not because of the story but of the characters!
*Thistle needs anger management classes, demanding little girl she is.
*Clove remains a Bess-type (from Nancy Drew) and let's add being a snitch and a whiner.
*Bay needs to assert herself more to her cousins and their moms and aunt (all of the cousins do when it comes to the elders)
*I just want to say to the moms: 'Double standards, anyone?'
*Aunt Tillie reminds me of my grandmother - the not-so-good aspects of her.
The characters all went on a backslide and became more immature than ever.
They all stressed me out (I'm still stressed out). Someone will say that families are like that with all the interference, putting-their-noses-in-another's-business, light to heavy snitching *cough*backstabbing*cough* but they really love each other. I don't think their dynamics are very healthy. Being used to it is just... *sigh*
I actually don't blame the men in their lives when they decided to pack their bags and hightail it out of there (we don't know the full story but, jeez, to be subjected to that daily). Run while you can, Landon!
I still don't know why I still read it to the end, though (or why I'm on the third in this series). I just need some chocolate and watch something lighthearted and happy to de-stress.

This was not my favorite book in the series, but it was still an enjoyable read... The crazy Winchester witches continue to bring the laughter with their sassy ways; I still enjoy their banter with one another especially the cantankerous Aunt Tillie; and the interactions between Bay and Landon become a little more intense in this read... I think where the book was lacking for me was in the momentum; it felt slow and somewhat “cookie cutter” of the previous reads in the choices for the characters... In the ending all the secret mysteries are revealed which held some action packed magical moments which was enjoyable... 3.5 Stars:)

Witching You Were Here This is the 3rd in the Wicked Witches of the Midwest series, and although overall it was enjoyable, there were a few things that detracted from the story. The plot, an abandoned yacht, the mysterious re-appearance of Thistle's father and Brian's suspicious behavior, was well paced and enjoyable but I figured most of it well before the middle of the book.
While the banter between the 3 cousins, Bay, Clove and Thistle, was cute in the first 2 books, it's wearing a bit thin. They're all in their mid-20s but they act like 12 year olds at times. It's not endearing. Also, I don't see why they lie about every little thing. There's no reason for it and it's annoying. Example: instead of saying they were up in the middle of the night to check out something in the register and why, they make up bad excuses and eventually have to fess up anyway. Why bother lying in the first place? Ugh.
Overall, a fun read but starting to fray in some places.

I really hope the next big bad has a gun instead of a knife so them can shoot Aunt Tillie.
Ok so I can see the author is trying to write the character so them seem all cute and dysfunctional and everything but really they just come across as condescending NARCISSISTIC assholes. The Torrent Witches series by Tess Lake has been accused of ripping off this series but really it's a far better hybrid, you may even end up liking some of the characters in that series. All that being said I have the first seven books of the Wicked Witches of the Midwest series so I'm probably gonna keep reading the shitstorm because let face it, really it's taking zero effort or concentration to get through them. Well unless the whining gets me, I mean why does EVERY SINGLE CHARACTER have to be such a whiny bitch….

Solid 4.25 stars.
This mystery was my favorite of all so far and it took me a bit to unravel it fully, which always earns my respect as a cozy reader. I really do love this family, although again the narrator could be better and at times I struggled to keep listening because of the drollness of her voice.
The reappearance of Thistle's dad threw a little wrench into the Winchesters' daily life and it took me a bit to figure out what he was up to also. As usual, Aunt Tillie was the real star of the book and kept me laughing the whole time. She has a serious side too though, she's way more than a doddering old witch, so don't underestimate her!
This ended the first box set and I do hope the next books were also recorded because I can't wait to see what the Winchesters get up to next!

The book is fun and entertaining. We have the cousins bickering as per their norm. Bay at a crossroads in many aspects but in particular her romantic life. She needs to learn to trust Landon more than she does. Her fear of being ostracized and turned away is something holding her back and it needs to be confronted. Bay needs to embrace who she and her family are and let go of the fear. Aunt Tillie is just as much a hoot as ever.
The story is more sad than the other due to the content but the entertainment of Bay and her cousins and really Aunt Tillie help to add brevity to the book. Landon is just as awesome as ever. He is patient and understanding even as Bay drives him batty.

In this one Landon is back but will he stay when they actually talk about the magic and stuff? We also have the girls dad's, well that caused a little bit of trouble within the family. Aunt Tilly was back to being a pain as always but she does make me laugh. I just love reading the family dinners and wondering who will annoy Tilly first.

Witching You Were Here is book three in Wicked Witches Of The Midwest. It is a cosy paranormal mystery. It is a stand alone novel. There is a thread running through the books, but you can pick up the detail in the story. The main sleuth is the journalist and witch Bay Winchester. Bay's investigation usually involves her witchy family: two cousins and Great Aunt Tillie.
Bay and the girls are investigating an abandoned yacht with blood stains on the deck. The police and FBI have found that drugs are involved and liaise with Bay who can give them 'special' information.
Honesty is the best policy and for all their shortcomings I enjoy these books. They are my guilty secret; they make me smile. I like the family bond and loyalty, the banter between the cousins and that the book is intergenerational. My favourite character is Great Aunt Tillie, the old curmudgeon. As miserable as she can be, the 85-year-old is always there for her family. The body of these stories revolve around the family.
The downsides? The bickering between the cousins is juvenile at times and overbearing at others. Bay's investigations are limited to Google and asking Edna the ghost before Bay slips into the crime scene. The portrayal of the aunts who are middle-aged women is patronising as opposed to funny.
There has been an improvement in the quality of the story, in this adventure they used magic to protect themselves. Clove, who is Bay's cousin, seems to have developed a bit of a personality, it's good to see one of the characters grow. I also liked the appearance of Thistle's father; there has been an absent of father figures in the series.
It is light literature, a cosy and enjoyable read, done in a day. Go for it.

I truly enjoy Amanda M. Lee's writing. The family at the center of these stories are real people, the kind of people I grew up with, though none of us had powers (thank heavens).
Bay Winchester is the central character, and we see her family though her eyes. She works for a local newspaper in Hemlock Cove, a small town in Michigan. her family is well-known by the local sheriff, especially Aunt Tillie. If I had power, I would want to be like Aunt Tillie one day. She doesn't give a whit about anyone else's opinion and never backs down. And no one is safe from her imaginative retributions.
The mysteries in this volume involve the disappearance of an elderly couple from Canada AND the reappearance of cousin Thistle's dad, a man who has rarely seen or talked to his daughter in years. His presence at The Overlook, an inn run by Bay's mother and aunts, causes friction, and sparks Bay's imagination. Why has he suddenly appeared after all these years?
Bay is also dealing with her feelings regarding an FBI agent named Landon. She became involved with him following another adventure - Any Witch Way You Can - and it didn't go well. Now he'd back to investigate the couple's disappearance, and sparks fly again.
I like the dialog in Amanda M. Lee's books. I also like the fact that people aren't always so nice. The book is also funny, which is a plus for me. It's the second book I've read in the series and look forward to the next one.

While I love this series, I was not as enamored of this book. It is still a lot of fun and there is a great twist at the end with one of the suspects. But the lack of a dead body ratcheted down the suspense a bit. My main issue with this book is that the characters seemed to snipe at each other for the sheer purpose of being argumentative. Rather than snarking with and underlying agenda of fear or misdirection (which is funny), the characters engaged in circular arguments that did not serve to move the plot forward or add to the character development. I think the characters need to change and grow (thereby changing how they relate to each other) because it is difficult to maintain the same argumentative cleverness over several books without it getting old. Still, the train wreck that is Bay Winchester's life makes for a fascinating read.

Since I don't normally write reviews unless I have something specific to say, here's the break down of how I rate my books...
1 star... This book was bad, so bad I may have given up and skipped to the end. I will avoid this author like the plague in the future.
2 stars... This book was not very good, and I won't be reading any more from the author.
3 stars... This book was ok, but I won't go out of my way to read more, But if I find another book by the author for under a dollar I'd pick it up.
4 stars... I really enjoyed this book and will definitely be on the look out to pick up more from the series/author.
5 stars... I loved this book! It has earned a permanent home in my collection and I'll be picking up the rest of the series and other books from the author ASAP.

Aunt Tillie rides again!
Another fun ride with the Winchester witches. All the fun characters are back...cousins Bay, Thistle & Clove...their mothers...and of course cantankerous witch Aunt Tillie.
A boat is found abandoned with no sign of the occupants, a couple from Canada. FBI agent Landon comes to town to help Chief Terry, and perhaps reconnect with Bay? Ghost Edith tells Bay that newspaper owner Brian is hiding something from her...when it's revealed, the witches are all thrown into a tizzy.
I really enjoy this series with its fun, quirky characters. So many possibilities for Book 4...can't wait!

Is anyone what they seem?
Awesome. Winter has hit and rather than giving our family a respite it brings it's own problems. Absentee fathers, an abandoned yacht with evidence of blood and a nosy FBI agent that wants to know the family secrets. Will the cousins be able to cope especially as Aunt Tillie is on a mission to cause as much mayhem as possible. The characters get better and better whilst although the plot is fairly transparent the read is carried by the humour and sarcasm of the characters. A really great series. Loved it.

Pretty much perfect summer reading, this is exactly what I needed when looking for funny, light hearted fun with lovable characters and a bit of mystery and action. These witches worm a way into your heart and make small town life seem suddenly very appealing. The humour is snarky and outrageous, family turns from enemy to closest ally in the blink of an eye and suddenly I very much want an Aunt Tillie of my own.

I loved this book. This whole series is amazing. It's almost like it should be a TV series. I can envision the charters in the books as to how they would look in real life.
The series is fun, entertaining and just the right amount of everything. The characters are so great. They each play a great role in the stories.
I'm on to read book 4 now and have pre ordered the two short stories coming out in February and April.

Adorable. Heather recommended this series to me and I finally got around to reading it. It was fantastic. Its like a cross between Charmed and the witty dialogue of Gilmore Girls. Love it. What a fun series. The cherry on top is that there is no cheesy sex...despite it hedging slightly towards paranormal romance.

The Winchester women are in disarray this winter: there's a blizzard, a deadbeat dad, romance, hilarious and nail-biting family hijinks, and another mystery in town. Lee's trademark sense of humor is on display again as Bay realizes that Landon just might accept her for who she is -- and Aunt Tillie might be her best ally, as well as her worst enemy. I even appreciated the cliffhanger ending.

This is another great book in the story of the Winchester witches. It combines mystery and romance with laugh out loud dialogue. I love the characters and want to be Aunt Tillie as I age.

I have finished all of the Wicked Witch of Midwest books and short stories! Love the snarky, arguing, love, family, sarcasm etc etc etc of these books! I also would love to have an aunt Tillie to make life more funny and interesting! Great FUN reads!
