Sandy and Lily Johnson's son, Colt, has grown up and become a horse trainer. Some call him a whisperer. He decides to go out on his own to see if he can make a living as a horse trainer. He meets lovely Mandy Evans, a children's counselor. Riding horses in the beautiful hills by Donner Lake and Soda Springs, they fall in love. However, family and outside interferences threaten to pull them apart.
I was born in Illinois and migrated to Arizona and Nevada. I've been a westerner my adult life and it's what I love to write about. There's nothing like Cowboys and horses to dress up a good story. But I enjoy mysteries as well and write as SJ Slagle when I have a heart-pumping story to tell.
Love, angst, and movie trivia; who could ask for more?
Loved the first book in this series and this one did not disappoint. Some authors have trouble keeping the rhythm going, but definitelty not this one. Loved the horse theme and the counselling. I am a sucker for those who have gifts and these two most assuredly do. If you love series with big families, lots of love and cowboys, you need to get into this series. On to book three!!
I read this book because the author is a friend of a friend of a friend. The book was enjoyable yet I would say it wasn't written for my age group. I also felt like there were things that weren't the characters. so those bugged me a little. As for the strife, or Act 2 as the gramma would say, was stupid. She left her love for weeks for two 5 minute conversations. Overall not bad but not great.
So far this series is exceptionally romantic. The way the grandmother in the book describes the relationships as three acts inn a movie is appropriate.
