Pathfinder is book 6 in the Thomas Bladen series. This spy thriller is set in 2005 after the London bombings. A woman is nearly pushed in front of a train. This is the start of a series of deaths but why did she survive, and who is she. Thomas is asked to review the CCTV footage and realises he has seen the woman before. She was 1 of 7 people who met in secret, to seek an accord between the Alliance and the Shadow State. There is plenty of cloak and dagger with subterfuge aplenty and so many secrets. It isn’t a fast-paced story, more a slow burner, which I certainly enjoyed. I loved the fascinating mix of characters and throughout the story I kept wondering which side the person I was reading about was on. The ending surprised me, and Thomas as well I think.

First of all, this starts wonderfully suspiciously and had me intrigued immediately. The descriptions of early characters was observant and helped ease me into the setting straight away.

I also loved the key London landmarks and areas which made this all the more vivid. I felt like I was on the tube or in a set location with the characters which enhanced the reading experience.

This is a very tangled web and maintained a steady pace throughout. The intricacies between characters and scenario kept the intrigue up, and I was eager to see what would happen next.

Engaging and thrilling read.

Convincing characters with secrets and lies make for an intriguing, gripping plot. Who to trust and what to believe? I thought it very enjoyable and I especially liked the strong female protagonists who had a big part to play.
It's mostly set in London and can be read as a standalone, though probably best read as a series. Plenty of surprises, one not to be missed.
