This book offers a review of the basic attributes of the three disputed additions (Song of the Three Holy Children, Susanna & Bel and the Dragon) to the Biblical book of Daniel. The survey itself compasses textual concerns, content, tone, probable language of origin, historical implications and canonicity debate. The author is mostly even-handed with his handling of matters.

There are also some downsides. The book was clearly intended for a 19th century academic audience - there are many untranslated passages in German, French, Greek, Latin and Aramaic. A great deal of time is also spent discussing the opinions of the author's contemporaries, which offers less now than it would have at the time.

All in all, it is a worthy read.
