Kali Sweet #2

Sweet Chaos

Rate this book
Three hundred years later, the ghosts from her past are hunting for revenge...

The past always finds a way to bite you in the ass.

As a three-hundred-year old vengeance demon, I’ve made a lot of enemies. The worst was Queen Maria, the Italian Court’s most devious succubus and a ruler who used me as a weapon of mass destruction to inflict pain and kill hundreds of humans in her torture chambers.

Now she’s back, this time as a ghost, and she’s invited a new friend to the party—a vampire king who wants my head on a stake. Together they’re bringing a war to Chicago that will topple the carefully constructed world I’ve protected for centuries.

But I’m Kali Sweet. I never run from my past…and I’m not about to hide from my present.

Kali once again finds herself in the thick of things. She is a vengeance demon and Queen of the Undead. Toel a master vampire is unhappy with this and is working to raise an army. In the meantime she is hired by his brother’s to capture him. They want him alive so they can seek justice for their master’s death and make an example of him. While trying to capture a ghost on a side job, she gets more then she bargained for. It appears the ghost is Queen Maria. She was the Italian Court’s most terrifying ruler and succubus. That was until Kali killed her. The tale that unfolds as Kali tried to stop them is action packed, suspenseful, and delicious. I became completely caught up in the cases, the characters and of course Rad.

Evans characters are delicious, well fleshed out and kick-ass. Kali is one tough cookie. She is constantly trying to make amends for her past and protect the lives of humans. Despite being swept up in one crisis after another, she is focused, and a total kick-ass demon. I love how she interacts with her colleagues and friends. Her snarky, quick-witted comments had me laughing aloud. While she hasn’t spoken the words for fear of breaking her heart; it’s obvious she adores and loves Rad. Radison wasn’t in the book nearly enough to satisfy moi. He is rakishly handsome, a swoon-worthy romantic and a total kick-ass chaos demon. Did I mention how handsome he is? Toel the evil vampire is totally gnarly dude and added to the suspense throughout the novel. Damon, leader of the Bridge Council, had me rolling in laughter. I still feel a smidgen of a love triangle and I hope Rad squashes him.( like a bug) I adored Maddy and the relationship that is developing between her and Kali. Cole, Kali’s partner and protector takes a lot of crap, but I’d trust my life with him. I am hoping we learn more about him.

Evans has created a unique, fascinating and humorous world. I love how things are developing in this series and look forward to watching it unfold. Her characters have depth and believability. The pace is fast, and she weaves together all of the plots brilliantly. Fans of the Hollows, Cats and Bones and the Mercy Thompson series should find this series to be just what the doctor ordered.

I highly recommend Sweet Chaos and the Kali Sweet Urban Fantasy series to fans of urban fantasy. Evans delivers lovable characters, suspense, action and paranormal elements that will delight you. Misty Evans is on my author’s to read list and I hope she is busy writing book three. (like now, seriously.)

If you missed Revenge is Sweet, book one in the Kali Sweet series, shame on you. It's a fast-paced fun urban fantasy read from Misty Evans that will keep you guessing to the very end. In this second installment, the author continues the story of Kali Sweet, revenge demon who is the best at what she does. But this time, Kali's ghosts of the past are coming back to haunt her. I had a hard time putting this down as I had to know what was going to happen next and how Kali was going to get out of the situations she was in. You won't want to miss this. Oh, and there's even a teaser for the next book at the end. I can hardly wait!

You will find the sequel to “Revenge is Sweet” packed full of action, adventure, love, lust, happiness, sadness and romance! You get the same tough vengeance demon that has to once again fight the war between good and evilIn Sweet Chaos, Kali is fighting a sin/spirit from her past as well as Toel, one of the vampires who is not happy about a demon being Queen of the Undead (of course, he thinks he should be in charge). Kali doesn’t really care to be the Queen of the Undead, but feels she is the best one to fight Toel as well as the other spirit from her past since she thought she took care of things then. Kali feels responsible for all the innocents and hesitates at allowing her friends to help for fear that they will be killed in the process. However, Kali can’t handle it all by herself and needs to learn to rely on those friends to help her. She is starting to show more emotion by allowing some of her friends into her heart more which in turn effects the way she tries to handle things. I like watching Kali figure this all out.

Something I love about Kali Sweet books are the relationships. Typically I tend to want more dialogue between the two love interests in a story, but in this case I love watching Kali interact with her friends and boss. I think it is hilarious that Damon can read her mind and she isn’t afraid to tell him what she think, which then leads to Damon reminding her that he is the boss. I love how Kali treats Maddy like a younger sister and to see how Kali was a little jealous of Bri’s interest in Cole. I even warmed up to Dru who I wasn’t sure of at the beginning based on how he treated Kali. It was great to see Kali finally stake her claim on Rad. It has been a long time coming for me and I am excited to see where it leads into the next book.

The action scenes are well written because you don’t know how they are going to end up, so Misty keeps you on the edge of your seat to find out. Every time you think “This is it. Kali and company are going to get it done,” something else unexpected happens! Misty does a great job taking your emotions on a journey with the characters in the book. I was a little worn out after reading this since I felt like I was experiencing the same things as Kali! I highly recommend Sweet Chaos!

Urban fantasy has be to really well written for me to like it, and this series is that in spades. Misty Evans has a special talent at creating wonderful characters as well as developing a fast paced and fascinating plot. I love all the of the good guys whatever form they may take and appreciate that Kali's eyes were opened to the possibility that anyone (or thing) can be a good guy: that says awesome writing to me. The plot, which built from the first book but has its own story line, was solid and well developed and entrancing; it drew me in from the first page of the first book and has not let me down yet.

In this book, Kali continues her role as enforcer for the Bridge counsel and takes up her position of Queen of the Undead; She still hates vampires except for her two new friends. An old archenemy returns to make her life as miserable as possible. Of course that is just a side benefit to world domination!

I downloaded the 3rd book as soon as I finished this one.

Thank you Misty Evans for this wonderful prize!

If you haven't read the first book of this series, you should at least put it on your TBR pile or Next-to-Buy list: for every PNR/UF lovers this series is a must!

I have this book on my Kobo since last spring and I never really had the chance to take the book, open it and enjoy this story. In November, I finally had some time off (well, I took this time off) to read Sweet Chaos, the sequel of Revenge is Sweet by the talented and surprising Misty Evans!

I wish I could have read this one sooner... Geez, I was hooked after a few lines. For those who have already read the first book, Sweet Chaos start were Revenge is Sweet ended. I like when you don't need to read several chapters and ''re-read'' the last few chapters of the latest book. Misty Evans succeeded in taking the reader back into the whole storyline.

I felt that this story was more sinister and darker than the first one. The humour that filled the pages in the first book wasn't, as much, present in the second, it was more serious and I love this new ''dark side'' from Misty Evans. My favorite part was with Kali and Rad. At some point I also liked the dark moment with Alexandru and even Damon. They all had they special moment with Kali and they were pretty intense, even if Rad is always the best!

The readers will find out some outstanding and intense secrets about ones of are favored characters, but I won't tell too much. I was hoping a little appearance from Lucifer (since it was the case in the first book and enjoy it), but it wasn't the case. BUT the whole plot, background story was enough to turn me on and keep reading.

New characters will show themselves, but mostly, the reader will stick up with the same ''crew''. We will learn more about Queen Maria, the ultimate evil from Kali point of view. Awesome plot, action all the way and sexy and steamy scene with Kali and Rad. I will also add that Kali might fall under other the charm and spell of other males... Yummy! I almost crave those scenes.

Nice ending: open and with some questions: can't wait to read the next one because of the way it ended!

A very spectacular sequel. It kept the action up nearly throughout the entire book. I love Kali. She doesn't back down from anything. This does tend to get her into some seriously sticky situations, but I like that about her. I also like that even though she's stubborn as hell and wants to do things on he own, she often gives in and lets others help her even if she hates doing it.

Her relationship with Rad is just as complicated in this book as it was in the first one, but by the end, Kali seems to make a decision on that front. I have to say I agree with her. I like her together with Rad. I hope they can get through whatever comes at them next because it sure seems like it's going to be something big. Not to mention the Notifectors will be on them since Rad plans to defect and Kali threw down that challenge to that chick Parker.

I'm ecstatic that Kali finally . It seems though, that a certain witchy vamp is still alive, however. At least she seems to be imprisoned, but I wanted Kali to stake her ass, haha. The only thing I didn't get about that is how Vicky knew about Maria in order to raise her to use against Kali. That seemed a little convenient, but it made for some decent ass-kicking.

Maddy got some closure with her family, but it sure wasn't happy times. Poor girl. At least she has Kali and crew to help her. I love Cole. I'm not sure how I feel about him hooking up with Brianna, though. It seems to be good for him, so I'll deal with it. Poor Damon should just give up on trying to get anything from Kali. I don't see her ever going there. At least, not on her own. Then there's Dru. So much happened there. I'm not entirely sure how to feel about that, either, but it sure will make things interesting in book three.

Kali Sweet, the vengeance demon, has her hands full in this new adventure. Her old nemesis, Queen Maria, the evil succubus demon she killed centuries ago is back as a revenant and it’s up to Kali to figure out a way to get rid of her for good. There is also the vampire king Toel who escaped her justice after he killed his father, Vlad the Master vampire. She needs to hunt him down and take him out, as well as deal with his brother Dru, assorted demon hunters, her ex-fiancée Rad, her boss the arch demon Damon and Vicky the obsessed witch vampire. All while dealing with her young protégée and friend Maddy’s desire to have a family Christmas. This was another delightfully dark and action packed story and I’m looking forward to reading the next installment.
