When Jillian finds herself wishing for something more out of love, her best friend Stacey is positive she knows just how to help… Operation: Trade Up.
Jill is not sure Stacey’s cure won’t be worse than the cause of all her woes, but there is just no arguing with Evil Makeover Barbie when she has one thing on her mind. One way or the other, Stacey is determined that Jillian is going to find her Prince Charming – or else!
Average Jill is about just that, Jillian is your average girl. She isn’t the skinny one with the perfect figure. I loved that this wasn’t just about your typical skinny person that wants to call themselves fat. Because let’s face it, that gets old quick. Jillian has her self-esteem issues, especially with her friend Stacey who of course is the skinny friend that always pushes to be healthy.
Stacey is on a mission, and that mission is to makeover Jill, she is set on fixing Jill up and getting her a Hot boyfriend. After a full makeover wardrobe change, hair cut, the whole nine yards, Stacey’s plan is in action. All she has to do is set Jill up on those dates. After many failed attempts and Jill putting up with Stacey’s bullying and pushing someone crosses Jill’s path.
I first stumbled across Summer Ellis’ book on a whim. I saw her first book in the cartel series was free, so I gave it a shot, and boy was I glad I did. I read every single book in that series of course while impatiently waiting for the last and final book to be released. Well anyways, I love her work, so when Summer announced she was branching off for another book, I knew I would have to get it as well. Yet again she did not let me down. This was definitely drama filled and telling us Jill’s story on a path to trying to find herself with her friend trying to push her into situations, and Jill just agreeing to go along with it. This story was funny, quirky, and heck I even got frustrated at times. I just wanted to reach in and B*tch slap Stacey. But hey we all have friends that try to act like that. Of course we have the sexy Scottsman Brian, I loved him in this story. His sexy accent and all. I’ll admit it took me a minute to adjust to reading the accent. Usually when a character has an accent the write will do a good job at explaining and reminding us he has an accent and we can picture hearing that accent in our minds. Summer, wrote it out with that sexy slang way with they’re dialect. So that was a little different but didn’t change the story for me one bit. I loved it and Summer’s unique writing style. I will definitely be looking forward to reading more from Summer. Erica~ The Book Nuts
you will definately get a laugh out of this book. Jill tries hard to find someone to live her but has problems bc she keeps running into the wrong kind of guys. when she does find him she doesn't realize it until it's almost to late. I really enjoy Summers writing, I read her Cartel series and was blown away with her writing. I must say she has not disappointed me with this book either. I will definitely be telling my friends about this one.
This is not a good read from Summer Ellis. I found myself skimming through this book hoping it would pick up the pace. In the end it I would not recommend this to my friends.
Fun, easy read. Loved the story but seems like the last year of the book went by too fast. Could have added a few more chapters to fill in some important gaps. Otherwise, a cute story.
