Note to Self: Diary of a Divorcee

Rate this book
The most tumultuous period of my life was from November 2008-October 2009. Within a year’s time, I went from being a happily married woman to a disillusioned wife, watching my marriage’s slow hemorrhage, which led to its eventual death. By the end of fall 2009, I was no longer a wife. I was a divorcee and single parent. More importantly, I was a woman brave and crazy enough to step back into the dating arena after a 12-year hiatus in the hope of finding a love that’s everlasting. Thus began the journey of 1,000 dates and just as many lessons about love and life, all documented in my personal journals that make up this book. Written with humor and often brutal honesty, Note to Self is realistic first-hand account of challenges professional women over age 30 face when re-entering the dating market, proving that even for authors, real life is often stranger than fiction!

My name is Shana Johnson Burton, and I am married with two boys. I was born and raised in Macon, GA, and I am an English teacher at the high school I graduated from. I love to cook, dance, read, and, of course, write. I have two other books in the pipeline. Suddenly Single is my first novel. My second one, First Comes Love, will be released in November 2008, and the third will probably come out some time in 2009-- God willing!

I thoroughly enjoyed this read. Shana delivered a fun, transparent and thoughtful read as she re-entered the dating world after marriage. She shared the good, bad and the ridiculous, which had me chuckling or shaking my head! Yet there were poignant moments and I rooted for our heroine to find true love. I enjoyed the journey and the conclusion. Her usual magic with words captured me from the first word to the last.

Finding Real Love

Shana Burton exposed herself to all. This book had to be an eye opener for anyone who has gone through a divorce and needed to begin again. For Burton, she didn't leave anything out, no matter how embarrassing it must have been at the time. I can't say I would be brave enough to put all my business out there, but someone will benefit from this. She was looking for love in all the wrong places. However, in the end she found it in the person she's known all her life...herself.
