Prairie Brides #7

Christmas in Clear Creek

Rate this book
Bowen Drake had a gift. Unfortunately he didn't want it. He even went so far as to do 'bad' in order to thwart the 'good' that seemed to follow him everywhere! For when HE needed it the darn thing didn't do HIM any good at all! He tried drinking, he tried womanizing, he even tried outlawing, but nothing worked. Finally he stumbles into the little town of Clear Creek and there discovers why we've been given the gifts we have...

Elsie Waller came to Clear Creek after the death of her grandfather. She had high hopes for her life in the little town including looking for a husband. Imagine her elation when she happens upon the man of her dreams the very day after she arrives! Of course, the fact he was half frozen did put a damper on things, but once the townsfolk of Clear Creek thawed him out she endeavored to make sure Bowen Drake stayed around long enough to see she'd make him a mighty fine wife! The only question was, how?

Enjoy Bowen and Elsie's fanciful tale of mishaps, miracles, and love!

Kit Morgan, aka Geralyn Beauchamp, has been writing for fun all of her life. When writing as Geralyn Beauchamp, her books are epic, adventurous, romantic fantasy at its best. When writing as Kit Morgan they are whimsical, fun, inspirational sweet and clean stories that depict a strong sense of family and community. 'His Prairie Princess' is the first of the Prairie Brides books and the first in the series of a long line of stories about Clear Creek, Oregon. One of the wackiest little towns in the old west! Get to know the townsfolk in Clear Creek and come sit a spell!

NOTE: Hi folks, it has come to my attention there is an erotica book floating around out there written under the name Kit Morgan. IT IS NOT MY BOOK! I do not, and never will, write in that genre.

Christmas in Clear Creek wraps up the Prairie Brides series, and leads us into the Prairie Grooms with most couples finding their true loves… but still some things to either continue on over to the next series or be considered to have come to their natural conclusion off page. I know that the books have been out for a few years now, but some of us are just now reading them… so we’ll see what happens in Prairie Grooms. I’m looking forward to starting that sometime this week. And… I’m a lover of Christmas Romance any time of the year, but it simply seems just right to send off these characters with a lovely Christmas story that just about everyone gets, at least, a bit involved with.

Now with such a lead up you’d think I’d have a lot to say about Christmas in Clear Creek… and truthfully, I do, but I can’t talk about it here in this review. Why? Because there are aspects of this story that if you knew about them beforehand it would spoil the discovery. And even saying that might be too much for some folks. Elsie and Bowen are a delightful couple, yet Bowen has a past that he’s been trying to run away from… and it’s not working. Stuck in Clear Creek through the winter months, he never realized that stumbling into this small town might just have been the best mistake of his life. If he can let go of the past that is, and embrace the future that is right there in Elsie’s eyes and heart.

You’ll have fun with this story. Lots of laughter, some sweet romancing, a touch of wonder and a past that is far from buried. I loved this series from start to finish, and I’d highly recommend the entire series to any Western Historical Romance reader. Now, for me, it’s on to the Prairie Grooms.

Bowen made many attempts at being bad, but always came out looking like the hero. He was running away from his true calling and trying to spite his father and professors. How fortunate he was when he was assigned to watch over the new beauty in town, Elsie Waller. Grandma Waller knew there was more to him than met the eye. Elsie just enjoyed being around him. But you can't hide from your past forever. And more pie jokes!

Bowen Drake is feeling bitter about many things in his life. He's tried and failed at the life of an outlaw in the West and now he finds himself half frozen to death in Clear Creek near the holidays. Elsie Waller comes to Clear Creek to live with family after the death of her Grandfather and finds Bowen frozen laying in the snow. This is such a sweet historical holiday read I couldn't put down. Enjoyable characters and well written romance.

While I haven't read any of the other books in this series, it did not make any difference in understanding the characters or the story.
It is well written with strong characters and descriptions that bring the story to life.
I definitely recommend this book, and I'm going to read the rest of the series!

Such a great author!

She always pulls you into the story and keeps you wanting to turn the page! Love the added suspense as well as the gentleman way the men are, and heroic! But the women are heroine's also, they match with the men that come into their lives, and aren't treated as simple minded woman! Never a dull moment when reading Kit Morgan's books!

A lovely Christmas story

I enjoyed this and loved the new characters in our little town of Clear Creek, but was disappointed because I thought more loose ends would be addressed. Not so, thus only 4 stars. But it is worth all five!

Good Story

This story is about Elsie granddaughter (sort of) the town Dr. And of Bowen, a doctor by training who is angry at the world and denying his gifts from God. It's compelling, funny, and involves PIE.!

I hesitated to read this one, because it didn't seem to fit with the rest of the series (the models on the cover of this one, and My Prairie Viking seemed modern, not 1850s western). It was actually good that I hesitated, since this ended up being the last book in the Prairie Brides series, and now I've read them all in order!
Bowen Drake has a gift of healing, combined with his education he would make a mighty fine doctor. The only problem with that is that he blames his doctor father for not saving his mother when she was sick. He was too busy tending to everyone else. After her death, his father took to drinking, even as he still told others not to.
So Bowen headed out west with his anger and a plan to snap his father out of his drinking. He would become an outlaw and do everything to disgrace his father. But things don't work out the way he plans. Despite joining several gangs, Bowen has never been able to commit an illegal act. When he tries womanizing, he ends up matching them and getting them married to someone else instead of loving and leaving them himself.
Now Bowen has ended up half frozen in Clear Creek Oregon. He's found by an angel, a Miss Elsie Waller, and taken in by the town. Can he get his revenge and be a successful outlaw, or has he finally made it to a place where he belongs, and met the woman he belongs with?
Christmas in clever Creek was a great conclusion to the Prairie Brides Series, luckily, it's not really the end. The story will continue with The Duke of Stratham's six cousins as mail order brides in Clear Creek in The Prairie Grooms Series, of which the first book should be released soon. Anyway, I enjoyed Christmas in Clear Creek. I enjoy seeing the characters we've met throughout the rest of the series, and I loved getting to know Bowen and Elsie. Despite his attempts not to be, Bowen is a good man. Elsie is quirky, impulsive, and sweet. I loved watching them fall in love. Overall, it was simply a sweet western romance with a funny cast of side characters. I would recommend reading the series in order, starting with His Prairie Princess, but you could read this independently.

Final book in this Seven book series - The Prairie Brides

I love Western Romance!! This is a series of 7 books that I just read over the last two days...they are easy reading and full of fun and romance, intrigue and mystery, danger and bravery.

Bowen Drake should have had it all...he is educated, handsome, and gifted. He is, however, consumed with hate and anger - toward his father, Harvard and his professors, anyone and everyone. So he sets himself up to be an outlaw...

Being orphaned and raised by her grandfather, Elsie is now living in Clear Creek with her late grandfathers' cousin and his wife. He is the town doctor, and she is happy to be with them...although sad at losing yet another person she has loved. When she finds a young man nearly frozen in the snow on her way home, her life takes on a life of it's own!

Loved the 7th installment of Clear Creek. Elise and Duncan were great, this is a book where 2 people had to look deep within themselves, one angry at the world and one one understanding why all her loved ones are taken from her!!! Loved the story!!

Cute, Heartwarming Short Story

Another good story from Kit Morgan in the Prairie Bride series. I gave this story a 4 star rating because of a lack of editing for errors and this one story wasn't as strong as her previous works. Still a decent read though.

I realize that this story is book 7, but I had not read it before. Still awesome and still a lovely, sweet romance. I always wondered how Bowen and Elsie got together. A love story that truly makes your heart warm with gladness.

PIES, again! Yep, pies are a cure-all for what ails a man, especially Mrs. Dunnigan's pies. Eat up y'all! Enjoy the lovely Christmas play with ranchers instead of shepherds and a giant talking tree. Be prepared to laugh until your sides hurt!
