I must confess I haven't read the whole thing of Patrimonies. I read about half for some literature class and I've been trying to find the actual book (we were condemned to the classic book-club fate of printed internet copies) ever since. I don't remember too much about them, other than I distinctly remember the short story The Prize. I remember I was distinctly reminded of J.D. Salinger as far as writing but for some reason kept thinking that it was written by F. Scott Fitzgerald. Go figure.
I didn't care much for the protagonist (one of those whiny nine-year-old types that reminds everyone of someone's younger brother) but I don't think we were supposed to. Bit of a disappointing ending, but for some reason I find often short stories have them, especially in those modern dystopian shorties, where there's something nuclear and everyone dies.

Ta-ta, folks.
