Taylor never expected her reluctant homecoming to include a murder, a ghost…and a hunk of a ranch foreman.
Photographer Taylor Young fled to L.A. following her sister’s betrayal six years ago. Now Jamie’s dead, Mama has broken a hip in a drunken fall, and Taylor’s stepfather begs her to return to her family’s Montana ranch to make amends.
After a bitter divorce, Brett Austin, foreman of the Slash Y Ranch, believes horses are more of a sure thing than women. But the boss's daughter changes all that when she sets his heart bucking like a wild bronc.
When Taylor’s mother insists Jamie’s death was not suicide—a theory confirmed by Jamie’s ghost—Taylor wonders who could have wanted her sister dead. With a list of suspects as long as her camera strap, Taylor needs an ally. Could that person be a tall drink of water in a cowboy hat?

A fun, suspenseful romantic read with a light paranormal touch!
Taylor goes home after 6 long years of staying away. She has been through so much in her life. Betrayed by those she loves and has yet to let go of her hurt. She finds out by her mother that her sisters death is not as it seems. But a murder. Taylor agrees with her mother to look into it the best she can to prove her sister did not commit suicide. As she listens to her mother and others she finds it just does not fit and tries to fit the pieces into place.
Brett is a foreman at Slash Y Ranch and has had the best of company with his cat, the cows and horses of the ranch. He has been without human companionship for a long time by choice and chooses to continue to do so. That is until he meets Taylor.
There is an undeniable chemistry between Taylor and Brett. Both have deeply wounded hearts and are closely guarded. But it's hard to stop something that there is no way to control. Both Taylor and Brett learn there is on one better out there for the other but each other.
This was a fun, enjoyable romance with some mystery thrown in. I love it, until a ghost started appearing. Then it went downhill. The characters were enjoyable, and well written, but I felt there were too many genres packed into the book. Paranormal, Romance, Mystery, I mean, pick one! Without the ghost in the book, It would have been a 5. Found myself skimming past any part that had to do with it. Definitely would have enjoyed it more, if it was just a Western Romance.
A good cowboy story with all the required components - feisty hero, sexy brooding hero, big country. This also had a who dunnit mystery too, which kept going til the end. An enjoyable read delivering all it should
