Hello! Thank you for stopping by. The short story is I was born in Toronto, Canada. When I was 16, my family moved to Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., and that is where I met my wife, Bev. We've been married for 43 years and share our home in Southwest Missouri with 4 dogs, 3 cats, 8 chickens, a herd of goats. We have 3 sons and 12 grandchildren that keep us hopping. I've been known to ride my motorcycle in nice weather, play golf in nice weather, and tend my garden in nice weather. In bad weather, I prefer to stay inside. :) Thanks to the support of you, our readers, I've been able to devote full time to my writing. Bev does our cover designs. We hope you our books are enjoyable and you'll let us know. Please feel free to contact us at: jdalglish7@gmail.com or on Facebook God Bless, John & Bev
CROSSOVER(Christian Adventure) (THE CHASER CHRONICLES Book 1) Starts out with the PI and he's taped to his chair, big headache and something, a ghost shape is in front of him telling him he will have a choice to make. He learns a few days later he can either follow Jesus or go after the runners and make them crossover. There are chasers and this ghost wants him to become one... This book is out there as far as my beliefs but was a good read because the author describes things in such detail you feel as if you are there. Loved all the action, adventure and investigating as we got to go visit in several places. Received this book free on Amazon and this is my honest opinion.
At first glance I thought this would be a more factual Christian take on death but it was actually a religious fantasy book. I liked the premise of chasing people or spirits that run from judgement and the afterlife. Pretty interesting idea and a well written book. It's also a pretty quick read, under 200 pages. Definitely worth a read, especially if you read fast because you will be done before you know it.
So, recently I was in a meeting with someone who claimed to be a seer. I asked her what she meant by that and she said that she sees spirits. And has since she was a child. Some are good spirits some are not. As she was explaining this, I was looking around the room to see if any of the faces looked as incredulous as mine did. Apparently not.
The next day, this book falls in my lap, and it’s about someone who is surprisingly like the seer that this woman described. But in this book, the seers are actually called Chasers and they have missions throughout their life.. These chasers are after the souls who didn’t completely cross over. That as they went to the light, but their bodies died, they decided they didn’t want to continue that journey, and they took off. So they’ve decided to stay on earth for a particular reason, but that reason is irrelevant or dangerous.
The chasers are given ultra human talents. First, they can see the spirits, whereas no one else can except other chasers. They have superhuman speed and ability to fight. Their method of sending that spirit where they were originally supposed to go was to be touched by a wooden cross.
Okay, that’s all I will say about that. Except the so-called "seer" that I met doesn’t do any of that. She just sees them. I haven’t come to any conclusions about her since I’ve never run across anybody that sees spirits. And of course, people are skeptical of what they’ve never seen or heard. Just as I’m skeptical of any pill or exercise that claims to cure all. But this book is fiction, so I can suspend my belief.
As for the writing, it was very good, although I could easily see this being written for teens and young adults. It had language in it that that’s typical of teenagers, honestly more secular teenagers. But this is clearly a Christian book. The main character gives all glory to God, lives and is lead by God’s Spirit.
I have this author's first two books in this series. Both are short so I’ll go through them in a couple hours. It’s 3-4⭐️ worthy. Going to the next one and will review it today.
John has done it again! Loved the book! Loved the storyline too. Spiritual suspense. I fell in love with the characters. This could be a great Sci Fi series on TV. Can't wait to complete this series. John Dalglish has a fan for life!
This book grabbed my attention immediately, and it didn’t take any time at all before I was ready to crack open book 2. It’s refreshing to read material without worrying about what kind of content one might stumble into. Thanks John, looking forward to what happens in the next book.
This is a short, enjoyable read. Lots of action and a very different storyline. I was looking for a good Christian fantasy series and I think I've found it. I read this in an hour and it was a great experience.
Having read other books by this author was not surprised by what a great read it was. Actually didn't put it down until finished. As a believer, I found the story and characters refreshing. Just starting the " Journey " and sure I will enjoy it also.
Jack Carter is called to an unusual ministry. He's a Chaser.
This is unlike any book I've ever read. Interesting plot. Spiritual battles that go beyond imagination. I was drawn in, filled with suspense. I'm ready for the next book in the series.
A great start to the Chaser Chronicles. I loved getting to know the characters and what a Chaser actually was. Very interesting storyline. It had mystery, suspense and hopefully a start to a romantic relationship. Bring on book number two!!
Thank goodness this is a series because I want to read more about the chasers. It is definitely Christian, but without the cloying "preachiness". Sometimes following God's plan is dangerous and messy.
So, I wasn’t sure at first, but I love this author so I kept going. I’m glad I did. It’s a concept I’ve never heard of before and became a very enjoyable story.
I did not like the narrator for this project. He probably is fine in other projects and his acting skills were there, but the voice sounded so infomercial and not light hearted clean fantasy. The story is interesting though. It's a fun idea that someone who dies jumps out of the path to the light and "runs" and so a "Chaser" is required to go find them and get them to cross over. The characters are interesting and developed well even if the story is fairly short for an adult book. I would recommend it, but maybe read and not listened to.
I only picked up this book because I enjoy the author's Jason Strong detective stories. This book is a Christian fantasy. I have read many more mysteries than fantasies and only read about ten Christian books in my entire life (all Christian love stories) so I wasn't sure what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised. If like me you are looking for something different than vampires and werewolves in a fantasy, then you will enjoy the intriguing premise of this book. I would, however, caution those who believe in the literal Word of the Bible that this book may not be a good choice. As other reviewers have noted, this book's plot isn't mentioned in the Bible and is perhaps actually denied within it. Since I've read all of the Sookie (True Blood) and Twilight books, I know that fantasy fiction is just for fun.
Once you accept the premise of runners and chasers, this book is a real page-turner. I actually read the entire book in one sitting. I love all the characters and liked the relationships between them. Each runner also has distinct and facinating back stories. I enjoyed the two romances within the book: one just beginning and one long-standing relationship.
I only have one complaint: the story is not complete by itself. The main plot continues in the second book in the series. Luckily I was reading a Kindle edition so it was easy to get the next book.
While the story is interesting and the world-building strong enough to want to know more, this book has a couple of problems. First, the cliches. Cliches about coffee, jobs, relationships. Cliched mom, cliched girlfriend, cliched villain. Not much story here, very linear. We read about one client whose husband is (insert spoiler-free stuff). Protag's first case involves discovering the identity of a "runner". Why, imagine that, it's the client's husband! What a coincidence! (eyeroll)
Upon reflection, maybe I'm assuming this is a YA/Adult book, but it's really for 6-8th grade? Maybe. It's about right for middle school.
A warning about the audiobook version: the "reader" is just that - a reader, not a voice actor. Worse, he reads as if he's reading a to-do list, crossing off each sentence as he goes. I've heard Senate bills read aloud with more performance art than this.
I liked the strong Christian elements. Kind of refreshing, actually.
CROSSOVER is the first book in the Chaser Chronicles series. It's a relatively short (<150 pages) Christian story with a twist: Runners and Chasers. Apparently some people are able, when they die, to avoid "going toward the light" and thus become Runners. Some Runners want to interact with those left behind, while others just want to avoid their expected fate. Chasers are able to see Runners and are tasked with bringing them to final judgment, voluntarily if possible, forcefully if necessary. Jack Carter has been chosen by God to become a Chaser. He learns what that means and then gets some training before going out on his first couple of Chases.
Interesting concept and (mostly) interesting book. 4 stars.
While Ghost Hunters and ghost hunting in general is a huge boon for reality television today, this book looks at those souls in a different light. Runners, trying to escape final judgment in order to interact with those left behind on the terrestrial plane, must be stopped. Thus, God calls Chasers to assist in crossing over those rebellious souls. An interesting idea makes for an interesting book. The characters are likable and as always, the writing is well done. Suspenseful, thrilling, with a bit of romance on the side. I really enjoyed this one.
This is a story about a man who is chosen by God to become a Chaser. A Chaser will find and crossover spirits of people who run before they enter heaven or hell. For some reason is just struck me wrong. The whole idea was off for me. I kept reading because I wanted to see if it would be more agreeable to me but that didn't happen.
Enjoyed the book and though fiction, the book kept you wrapped up and wanting to keep reading to see what was happening next. Good example a book can be written without profanity and sex as the main theme. Thank you for this.
I was looking for a christian author who writes suspense novels. I found this author by accident. absolutely it is amazing. I could hardly put it down. can't wait to read the next book.
