This is good or brand new players that have really never built a deck' or maybe only one or two. I've been playing for a few years now, and I was hoping for tips to go further, but I didn't get anything new, and the examples are dated, but good. I will recommend this to new players though. Plus, Sliver corrected to Silver and there were a few other spelling errors that could be fixed if updated.
A Good Magic: the Gathering Deck Building and Strategy Guide with a Lot of Errors
This is an outdated book because it uses old cards as examples. (It was written years ago so I'm not deducting a star for that.) It does have a lot of grammatical and game-related errors and for that I'm deducting a star. Otherwise, this is a good book to improve your game through strategy and deck building tips.
I am nearly 40 years old, and am starting to play MTG, and am completely lost where to start, how to start and how to have even minimal effect in a game.
This helped me understand the importance of deck building with a plan in place. Knowing the wording of your cards, the value of card, the manipulation of cards and the probability of deck cards was super helpful.
As of this writing, I've only been playing magic for about 7-8 months. I've become obsessed and love the game. Deck building fundamentals is something I'm trying to figure out and this has given me a set structure and outline to follow. I've already began using these outlines for me Magic Arena decks and will do so with my paper magic as well.
If you have basic knowledge of the game this book would be helpful but for an absolute beginner or at least not for this absolute beginner it was not helpful. I sort of understand how to build a deck but still have no idea how to play the game. Maybe once I learn how to play this book will be of benefit.
Awesome!!!! This book is well written and detailed. It makes my learning experience so much easier. Includes pictures from original cards as examples. Thanks a lot guys!!
Algo un poco superficial de lo que es el juego en realidad. Tiene varios fallos ortográficos y areas de oportunidad que se pudieran mejorar, como agregar la imagen de las cartas a las que hace referencia en ocaciones para ilustrar al lector.
This is a good book for someone to read after they finished understanding the mere basics of the game. But it doesn't have any great insights that make this better than some article for beginners on a MTG site.
I liked your book. I myself am a long time magic player. I have been playing for over 8 years, and even with my experience I learned a few things. Thank you for writing this book.
