Fun story about two friends having a birthday party for stuffed animal Bruce. Recalls basic components that many children associate with a fun birthday party -- cake, games, balloons, decorations, friends, etc.
Cute book for my 4-year-old. He really loved the part when Echidna the Hedgehog and Platypus are playing with the balloons but they all pop on Echidna's quills. He also loved that Echidna made a birthday cake that looked just like her.
Today is Bruce's birthday (Platypus' stuffed friend), and Platypus wants to make it special. So with help from Echidna, he gets the decorations, cake, and balloons ready. Will Bruce, Platypus, and Echidna have a fun celebration?
I purchased this book in Australia when I was much younger. The front cover caught my eye, and I began to flick through it in the shop while my parents tried to move me along. Well, I ended up buying Platypus and the Birthday Party, and enjoyed it very much.
The only thing cuter than Platypus is his friend Echidna! And I love that they “bake” a cake by just mixing everything together and throwing it on a cake. A very cute story and fun new friendship.
